Yes, Glenn is without question one of the great screamers in rock history. His nickname is “The Voice of Rock”. He has about 15 solo albums also and has done three albums with Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi. The next song in this concert has very good vocals also and very good organ. I think you would enjoy it: “Might Just Take Your Life” ruclips.net/video/-DE9WUxyyAs/видео.html

I have seen them live. This was a band that could play anything and make it sound good. They are rightly considered one of the greatest hardrock/metal bands ever yet I don't thing they fulfilled their true potential. Only god knows what they were able to if they had gotten their internal struggles sorted out. They could have been even better. One of the drawbacks is that they played insanely loud in live settings .. I felt like I was being mauled into submission. They wanted it to be a physical experience as much as a musical one.
They took these fairly complicated songs (some of them anyway) and just blew everyone away. Everything was so easy for them.
One of the greatest live bands of all time. They were better live than on records. I remember them fondly. The drummer is one for the ages.
    Cheers!

All that is said is true.
You can watch the full Concert video and the best part of the show ocurrs at the last song that is called SPACE TRUCKIN'.
Ritchie was very angry with the organizers of the California Jam Festival, and decided to take revenge.
First went on to the camera man and smash his guitar several times until they broke (both the guitar and the camera)
He torn two more guitars into pieces and threw one to the audience.
Then with the help of his roadie put the stage in fire with two big explosions, while the rest of the band continued playing.
That was amazing, you have to watch it.
I'm a Deep Purple fan since I was 13, and I'm so glad you like this music and be so passionate in your reaction.
    Thank you for sharing.

Ian Paice was one of the main reasons that I took up drumming. No, I'm nowhere near his level, even after all these years. The man is a phenomenal player. Jon Lord was the best rock keyboardist ever. Blackmore has a mercurial personality...but is still one of the greatest guitarists ever. Coverdale was good, but Gillan was the 'golden throat' of rock. Hughes was a great bassist with a hell of a voice. His screams were almost on par with Gillan's.
I actually got to see the Mark II (Gillan, Glover, Blackmore, Lord, Paice) version of Deep Purple back in the early 70's. Great show.

Elok, True about Ritchie Smash his Fender into the camera then straight into the camera lens. Then Ritchie told his Roadie to poor petrol on empty cabinets which exploded intensely than expected. it knocked off Ian Paice glasses off and pushed Ritchie towards the front of stage..
This was during the elongated Space Truckin tune towards the end.. Then they had to make a way of escape immediately into a helicopter before the Fuzz we're to Arrest Ritchie.. Cheers

I did not see this lineup of Deep Purple. I saw Mark II. I thought I saw them in 1975 but it must have been in 1972 or 1973. I know it was before I saw Grand Funk Railroad but after so many years I forget. lol. Great background of the group also that you did. I still get like you do when I hear this so your expressions and smile may never go away ;-) We want you to go through all these groups of the 60s and 70s in a month or so lol. The very first appearence of David Coverdale in US, and singing to a massive audience, up to 250.000 people, in the Ontario Motor Speedway in Ontario, California, April 1974. California Jam Festival. Some claimed that the sound was enough loud even 1.6 miles away from the stage. Amazing!!!.

Omg, you are so adorable sweetie, totally love your awesomeness as a headbanger. An interesting fact about the singer that replaced Ian Gillan, Dave Coverdale later formed another awesome band called Whitesnake which had some of the best guitarists in the band. Keep that amazing smile going it really helps make my day go great. I love to see this younger generation looking into the classics and not getting into the mainstream garbage that is out there. There are so many bands to check out that were phenomenal but were very underrated. UFO is one of my all time favorites because of the german guitarist Micheal Schenker who brought to the stage of rock some of the most amazing riffs that many of today's bands use. Thin Lizzy was also another band you gotta check out as well.

Now listen to the studio version and particulary to keyboard and guitar solos.
Than listen It another time closely to the drums.

You are picking great bands and great songs, Elok. I'm enjoying watching you watching and listening to them. By the way, bass is pronounced like base when referring to music. It's pronounced as you said it when referring to a fish 🙂

I thought you would enjoy this song! Ritchie Blackmore’s guitar tone through the Mark 3 era was killer. The entire set was released on VHS in the 1980s and later released on DVD, and it is well worth watching. You can see Ritchie’s animosity for that cameraman building during the performance, as he kept giving the guy baleful looks. David Coverdale went on to form the band Whitesnake, which had John Lord and Ian Paice in the group for a while. The band went hair metal in the late 1980s, and you might like listening to the hit “Still of the Night”. It sounds a lot like Led Zeppelin’s “Black Dog”, and has been described as the best song Led Zeppelin never wrote. Rock on! 🤘🏻

the helicopter, blew up the stage, smashing the camera, all true. You don't want to piss off Blackmore, it's said that he have a bad temper

This is a very heavy song. After Richie Blackmore left the band in the early 70's , Tommy Bolin took his place as lead guitarist.

Hi Elok! Check out Jon Lord`s BOUREE from his soloalbum Sarabande. A unique piece. It`s a little jazzy, rocky and orchestral artwork with an oriental touch. I am sure, you will love it.
    Greets from Bavaria/Southgermany.
    Stay cool!

Need to watch “Space Truckin’” from the same concert (California Jam). Blackmore went particularly bonkers on that one, blowing up his amp, busting a camera, and trashing at least three Strats. A very costly performance for Purple, but a wild ride to watch for sure
