    I am grateful for this video. My mother grew up in Berlin during WWII and even though I have been there several times in my life, the last time was about 35 years ago (I was 15 years old.) As you can imagine, it was a very different place back then. It is good to see that city (and country) united again and healing. And I am also grateful that you and others were able to experience the in-person event, and that you were able to document the experience meaningfully. But, with that being said...it doesn't change the fact the vast majority of the people that play this game cannot and probably will not ever be able to afford and travel to an in-person event like this one. It also doesn't change the fact that the global event was a complete disaster for the majority of people who paid for it. It's hard to be grateful for a game that saves the best for the people who have the most resources and money, and for a company that won't even say that they are sorry to the majority of the people that play this game for the one event that most of us could play being such a disaster.

    Niantic stated that the low shiny rate during global Go Fest was because too many shiny pokemon degrade the game and they talk about keeping a level playing field then I watch a dozen videos from Berlin where people playing casually get more shiny snorlax that I was able to get total shiny pokemon from two days of hard grinding. I am not knocking Berlin or the people attending, I wish I could have been there with you, it looked amazing, but only a small % of the player base are able to attend these things and I don't understand why we couldn't all have had such an amazing experience on a global scale followed by these extra special events for the people able to get there.

Also it didn't have to be exactly the same, just like each in person event has different things going on at it, Global could have been different but of the same quality.

      way to alienate the resto of us making these events so expensive and to make it worse make the shiny rates way better than they ever intended to for global events
      im done with niantic they are money grabbing at the best and ruining this game in the long run, no wonder so many people are quiting,

    I feel more and more lately Niantic becoming more selfish as a company, focusing on mainly content creators and city based player where as more and more now rural players getting left behind. I understand that in gofest would have better spawns, but again more then 60% of players most likely can’t just leave everything behind for a game. I live in Sydney, Australia where my regional Pokémon has been featured around the world multiple times and yet we’ll most likely never get a in person gofest ever.
    Lately Niantic have upped the price of remote raid passes, decreased the incense ability, decreased the items in the 1 pokecoin bundle, increased most rare Pokémon behind a paywall that without the free remote raid now, most of us rural players will never be able to get. I understand content creators vs city players vs rural was never going to be even, but it feels like more and more lately Niantic are forcing the rest of the player base to look at what the more privileged are able to obtain and are like ‘deal with it’.

      @@lopoa126 Lmao entitlement, right... Here's the deal, no one is "entitled" to anything in this game. But Niantic has set a precedent with past ticketed events, including the global GoFest from the past couple years. Once you set the standard for what to expect from a paid event, and that event falls WAY short of expectations (as stated by a vast majority of the people who played it), you have a problem. That's why Fyre Fest never happened a second time lol.
      Entitlement would be people suggesting that only those with the means to go to these remote GoFests deserve the coolest sh**. And for the record, at least one prominent RUclipsr (not Nick) has essentially hinted at that.

    I don't understand why the shiny rate is bad in global go fests 😂 why can't we have community day odds which the in person go fests like this one has apparently this is my main issue here you get me?

    • @MrZorx75
      @MrZorx75 2 года назад +7

      community day odds would be terrible, I don't know why the in person fests are like that. The whole point of shinies is being rare, making them 1/25 completely gets rid of that. 1/64 is much better

      This would be awful. You must not understand how the “wow” factor works. The shiny rate in global go fest is not bad. It’s actually boosted to around 1/75. I still got over 40 shinies that weekend. How many did you get?

    Hey Nick, Chris from Germany here. Follower since your first video. Love your content. You know the sad thing in Germany is, even after 30 years without the Wall, lots of people are still divided in their heads. Still a lot of differences in east and west. But anyway, we live now, love to see the go fest, as i had Not participated myself.

    I lived in Berlin from 1976 to 1980, I traveled through Checkpoint Charlie and Bravo numerous times into Eastern Berlin. I stood on many observation decks and towers along that wall looking over at 'the other side' for hours. To see the color, growth, change of that place filled me with a lot of emotion and memories. I can appreciate the quiet respect needed to visit and observe what once stood as a barrier between those two worlds. To see that it look 'bright' and 'normal' fills me with joy for the German people...whom I always found were a wonderful people. Ich bien ein Berliner!

    It was nice meeting you and end up in your video (the one with the London Pikachu blue t-shirt). I visited the same location Checkpoint Charlie, the Wall and the Brandenburg Gate at night straight after Saturday go fest. After learning it at school and actually seeing the locations, it made going to Berlin worth the trip. If it wasnt for Pokemon Go Festive, i probably wouldnt have gone. Go out and explore.

    My mother was born in Berlin in 1936, so she went through all the atrocities of war. At one point she was visiting a little friend in her apartment building who was Jewish when Hitler’s goon squad came for that little girl’s family. Only my grandmother’s screaming and providing papers stopped them from taking my mom along with the family. It still haunts her wondering about her friend. (Mom has been a US citizen since 1973.) We went to Berlin in 2011 to celebrate her 75th birthday and meet cousins she hadn’t seen since that wall went up. We stood at that same piece of wall where you were, Nick. I remember completely breaking down at that moment. Watching your video evoked those same intense emotions. I’m glad you took the time to experience the city, and gave it the respect it deserves. ❤️ Thank you for all you do!
