      You're welcome! I'm glad it helped you. Sometimes things happen and the beans don't get soaked.

    Thank you for this video. Im prepping my ingredients while watching you. Thank you for speaking so clearly. You would be great on a talk/ cooking show. I ain't never made chili before, so i asked to old ladies at the grocery store about which beans to get. Well lo and behold they followed me around the store to get all the ingredients because they decided on making a big old pot of chili also. Im giving 1/2 to the neighbors and ive always hated onions so when its done, i will take 1/2 out then add onions for them. Thank you for going slowly, speaking clearly, and being detailed oriented. I hope you and yours have a Blessed day and great holidays coming up soon.

    I never soak the beans I put everything in a crock pot. Adding the browned ground meat after the beans are tender

      They tend to cook faster and have less gas creating effects if you give them a good soak first.

    Wow 🤩 mine is amazingly similar! The biggest difference is the variety of beans, beef broth and grilled cheese! I think I’m going to have to try it! I often make a side of rice, or serve with a dollop of skyr, or cream freshe (they’re very similar to sower cream) I like to sprinkle cheddar on it, and for a second meal, (left overs) I use the chilli to top hot dogs 🌭 I’ll also freeze and portion a couple of meals , thanks for sharing

    You did a great job explaining about the quick soak/overnight soak and why to do it. Great job! Very clear and to the point. I mainly do the quick soak because I always forget or it is a spur of the moment haha. I need to know where you get that beef broth from? I have used the better than bouillon before but would like a better, healthier option which this looks like it. I am like you, if you have it on hand, homemade is best but we don't always have that. That turned out really good-looking. I think I might get in on this too.

      I usually try to do a long soak, but I don't always remember. 🤦‍♀️ a quick soak works just as well though! I actually get the beef stock powder from Walmart. It should be near the better than bouillon. I used to use that, but I find it very salty in large amounts.

    Towards the end I was going to say "where's the tomatoes?" Then Bam, you beat me to it!!

    What kind of chili powder do you use?

    • @LivingtheHightLife
      @LivingtheHightLife  6 месяцев назад

      You mean what brand? I use different brands of chili powder, normally just the store brand. I haven't found there to be much difference in chili powder across brands.

      Absolutely! Just pre brown your beef to prevent it all sticking together

      @@LivingtheHightLife I have saved your meatless chili recipe for the instant pot. Do I use 4 cups of beef broth in the stove top chili or do I use 8 cups of water for the instant pot?

      @LivingtheHightLife  5 месяцев назад

      @@barbaracluse5874 you can do either, but the broth will make it more flavorful.

    How many servings is this yield?

    • @LivingtheHightLife
      @LivingtheHightLife  7 месяцев назад

      About 6-8, depending on your serving size. We eat large meals once or twice a day, instead of 3 smaller meals. But I can serve this for dinner and still have leftovers for the next night.
