I asked my LCS owner if he tests his coins to make sure they are not fake. He said that he doesn't because he can tell if they are fake. Hmmm. That makes me really want to buy some gold from him.

How about if they counterfeit a rare coin WITH silver. The machine is great purity finesse. But not for authenticating very rare coins made of silver.
I’m sure that’s been done. I guess you’d just have to make sure the weight is correct and check for flawed or odd looking details on the coin.

I got tricked swap my old classic metal detector Fisher for 4 Morgan dollars, immediately had red flags looked like mented, nurles looked new, figure at least get $20 each I'd get price detector, checked pawn store to appraisal, said it's fake after put on scale, said it 1gm. To 3 plus gms. 1880, (2)1883 and 1889.
If 1880 was real should be $80 worth.
