Dude, not gonna lie... I was an art and graphic design major for 4 years in high school, and this is the best education I've received in the art of sketching and drawing. It makes me feel confused and almost sad lol but very grateful. When I become unpoor next Friday, I will donate to your Patreon. Thank you man
I don’t know if you will see this comment. But I’m taking something from each video and making a picture for my best friend. She’s gonna love it. And because I’m not good at art I can make it look good. Thanks for your help
In the first video of this series, I was thinking "wtf? this guy said everybody else just says, 'watch me draw,' and here I am just watching him draw." But by now, I can see the value in that early stuff. Especially now, when you're first showing a "realistic" nose, and then simplifying it. As a TOTAL beginner, I'm really enjoying this series. Thank you for doing these. Already surprising myself. Although my characters don't have mouths or hair yet. ;)
These series are AMAZING!! You make it so much fun and easy to understand. Can't thank you enough for re-igniting my passion for comics/cartoons that began in childhood. I'm 30 now so figured it was time! :)
Thank you! I think you are so correct. The tutorials out there have not given technique on creating noses. This helps in creating new characters. Appreciate it.
This is amazing. I have tried so many times to draw decent cartoon characters but always had trouble and stopped however because of your videos I have learnt new skills and feel more confident in my drawings.
Went through five of your cartooning 101 videos this evening.. they have been so fun and I already feel so much more capable at drawing cartoons. Thank you so much for making this content!
I know I'm like three years late to the party but wow! The nose was always the part I would never be happy with how it looked in my art! This is amazing!
Takes me back to my Carowinds days as a caricaturist although we didn’t use the construction lines but had to get the lines to flow quickly like your swoop to show the septum/nostrils area. Just found your channel recently and I am not only impressed by how well you teach but am also finding inspiration as well. Thank you.
Amazing tutorial! I couldn’t draw noses before today and now I can draw almost perfectly every time! Will be watching the rest of this series of tutorials. Thank you so much!
Hey BJ, I've just started art classes for my first semester of college. Your videos have been of major help to my success, and will continue to be. I've very much enjoyed each of the videos I've watched and used to practice with so far. Please, keep them coming! Thanks again!
This was super helpful. I'm drawing on paper and I kept getting irritated with too much pencil so once I had drawn the triangle and set up a good 6 or 7 times, I got a soft green pencil and used that to draw the outline so my pencil with the features would stick out more and not blend in. Love this series!
I did all your Halloween drawings, and now I'm working my way through all your other tutorials and I have learned so much. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this and help aspiring artists. You should SERIOUSLY consider publishing a book of all the Cartooning 101 lessons as a reference book. That would be awesome!!!
I know my comment is late.. but THANK YOU SO MUCH for this video. I've searched through youtube for different tutorials because I've always wanted to pursue digital arts for so many years, these series of yours is really perfect for starters like. It feels like im too old now to start, but I'm glad I did. I'm so thankful I stumbled upon this gem. Thanks again and I'm really looking forward to creating my own arts and discover my own style later on in this digital arts journey of mine :)
Your videos are great! You don’t over complicate things and get right to the point in a logical manner that’s easy to follow and produces consistent results. Thank you!
I think the biggest thing I learned with this lesson is how shapes really work! One question, the bridge lines, do they go on the shadow side? This was extremely helpful. Thanks
These videos are amazing, I really mean that, not like the amazing that everyone uses to express how good their special ground coffee tastes , but actually amazing in that I'm drawing things I never thought I could.....since watching I've bought an iPad Pro, I've got your pencils, its reinvigorated a love for sketching that I didn't know I was missing in life.......loving this. Thank you for posting. OH and occasionally you go a lil fast, especially on pencil selection etc....takes many rewinds but I get there in the end haha!
Damn this one of the best vid of how to draw nose tutorials very detailed and informative thank you i learned something new today. Pls make diff nose shapes next time and how to draw old person in cartoon style
thank you for making these I am learning so much! I just wish my high school teacher would have taken the time! I think my art would have taken off so much earlier in life!
Hey man, i absolutely love this little cartooning series of yours. It's so helpful! Also, im pretty impressed at how you didn't blink for almost an entire minute at the end.
I'm loving these..I have your pencil and ink sets. But can't figure out which you are using in this one? It's sketching and shading like a pencil, then it looks like it's inking like a pen.
Thanks so much! This brush was something I made-that sketches/inks/and shades really well. Will probably release this as a pack with some other brushes I have made. Still tweaking stuff!
Hi BJ, I'm really learning a lot from your channel and I don't know how to thank you for your great content. I wonder if you can make a series about using real life references to make cartoon designs, I think that would be very useful for a lot of beginner and intermediate artists.
Thanks for watching and I appreciate the feedback! Will definitely consider touching on this after the initial series runs its course- a good way to pull everything together from all of the lessons!!!
I am a newbie and I'm appreciating your videos so much! Do you use such schemes/sketches every time you draw, or are you used to this and draw without them most times? I have always loved to draw and I'm waiting for the 10" iPad I ordered to start drawing on such a device :)
What brush are you using? Frustrated following along and not getting the same results with line weights and shading without switching brushes. Thank you.
Don’t miss out on the rest of the Cartooning 101 series! ruclips.net/p/PLnAI9peyZRkEwMES5DDl9-44M0S5vXXH1
Have you ever heard of Focal Dystonia? Or the Alexander Technique? If you know anything about those, maybe it would be a good topic for a video.
Hi i was wondering what kind of device you use to draw?

I got A new stylus pen!

That means a lot, man! Glad to be providing content that resonates that much!!!
I honestly love how you start by doing it "right" THEN show how to make it cartoony and exaggerated. Good work!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Everytime when I have problems with drawing any part of the face, I go back to this How To Draw series. What a great help!
BJ - I can’t thank you enough for the joy of drawing I get from your channel, as a newbie. Keep it up!
Thanks so much Eyal! Keep it up-you won't be a newbie for long!!!
I can relate to this comment A LOT
