UPDATE: Steam will be adding a branch to Stardew Valley, allowing you to swap back and forth between 1.5.6 and 1.6 at will! Also, another point for the Stardrop mod manager, it'll easily allow you to run the game without mods if you want to play 1.6 vanilla!
Any chance of you creating a video some time in the future about using Stardrop the way you created videos on how to use mods using Smapi? That video is the only reason I ever became comfortable enough to dive into mods and I love it!
Well, you'll be done much much quicker than my 1300 mods and about 200 of those I've editted files for to custom link them to other mods. Already decided that the 1.6 update will just have to start a fresh mod set and playthrough.
Over 200 and I have manually changed things in all of them so they work with and reference each other. I cried just a little when 1.6 got announced, but I am so pumped to update everything for this new update and see all the new stuff still.
Super glad to see the mention about not harrasing modders. I see this way too much in the modding community across all the games I play. Mods are a gift, not a requirement.
Some QoL mods, though, are such a huge game-changer that they can FEEL like requirements. Not that I am endorsing harassment, but I used to see this stuff over at WoW, where ridiculously important mods to have an enjoyable experience would take literal months to update after Blizz decided to yet again, break the mods with tiny little tweaks, some of them not even really necessary. Titan Panel was absolutely _lousy_ for this, as that guy would just let it go for months. A major patch would be on PTR for like 3 months, and then maybe if you were lucky, 5 months later the mod would get an update, but he wouldn't hand the mod off to someone else willing to keep it updated.. and sadly there weren't any alternatives, at least not good ones, being made. In SDV, for me, it's the Fishing Assistant and Freeze Time While Indoors mods I consider absolutely essential for actually enjoying the game. Really hoping those two "make it" to 1.6 and don't break.

I haven’t opened SDV in years and I heard it was getting an update. Part of the reason why I slowly stopped wanting to open the game was because of constantly being wary of needing to update all my mods every time I just wanted to relax and play on my farm. I really miss my farm and maybe 1.6 will give me a reason to come back
I'm personally going through a perfection run on the new farm without mods first. By the time I'm done with that, I'm sure most everything that is going to be updated will be updated. I'm so excited for Chicken Farm!

I definitely agree that there is no need to spam mod creators with demands to update. But I do think that if you are a mod creator and you decide to not support your mods anymore you should give them to someone else that will, or make them open source so anyone could update them,. I have lost amazing mods for games like Minecraft because they were made for like the bata version and then abandoned by the creators with no way to have them updated by anyone else. I know that some old mods might get remade by other mod creators but even in those cases it’s usually only the more popular mods and they tend to be supported by the original mod creators anyway. Basically, I understand and accept that some mod developers don’t want to work on their mods forever, but i don’t like how they don’t allow others to remake/update their mods when the original creators move on from them.
One small reminder: if you happen to have made any personal small changes to mods (dialogue edits, etc.), be sure to save those files specifically! One mod I play with a lot uses the male farmer as a gender neutral option, so I went and swapped some dialogue so my husband properly referred to my farmer as a man 🏳️🌈.
