It amazes me too! A good way to put these train into good use without scraping them. Also, you are like the Justin Y. of transit videos! You are everywhere lol!
Not sure why but looking at the R211s aesthetics makes me think they're basically the R40M of NTTs. They're the first NTT cars to actually change up the design by bringing back front/back-end destination signage and rollsigns, then there are the gangway some of them will have, and it's such that had they been designed with the same style of half-up ribbing as the R40, they literally would be NTT R40Ms. Also neat to see a full set of 42s running in some role. I'd love to see a full set of those preserved for movie shoots and fan trips but I get the impression that honor would likely go to the 32s if only for their place in TA history as the first production-run stainless steel cars in the system.

I like watching the subway trains pass through every station on your RUclips channel even though I don’t live in New York City but when I get home sick I’ll watch this and anything involving New York City 👍🏾👍🏾
Ah the R211 and R46 ngl when they are seen in a meet up operating in both directions it really tells the difference between OTT's (Old Tech Trains) and NTT's.
I hope they have a fantrip with those R42s on the "J" maybe in the summer I'm celebration of the end of the pandemic or something. I hope they keep a full set of the R32s as well.
@@eternallyriley it’s essentially a fan trip they have where they take you through the system via each of the connections like the 6th ave/53rd street connection, rarest of instances that I’d want to see is the nassau montague street tunnel connection.
That's a wonderful idea. I honestly think Transit should build a train yard to selected amounts of retired subway cars (like three sets of tens) and use them on different excursion trips or anniversary runs. Not just scrap them all and forget about them and keep just two cars or four cars.
The purpose of the protection train is not to push the NTT out of the way in case it breaks down. Any train can be used to push a stalled train, there's no need for a dedicated train for that purpose. Whenever a new train type first works on the system, there's a small chance the new equipment will electrically interfere with the signal system. It may not appear on the tracks in area towers and the signals may clear even while the NTT is in the signal block. If this happened, a following train could pass a green signal with the NTT in front and a potential collision would ensue. The protection train prevents this since it is old stock which has been running on the property for years. The protection train guarantees signal protection behind the Test Train. We used to call it the "crash train".
The point of the R42 is to tow the R211 if it breaks down. They want to use a train that they know works in case the one that is still testing breaks down.
The fact that they decided to use the 50 R42s for work service instead of scrapping them is still amazing.

They sent some of them away, but not all.
Do they get reefed or scrapped now when trains retire?
@@42luke93 scrapped. The reefing program ended in 2010.

awesome catch that sound of the R211 is beautiful cant wait to take that train and railfan it
I just hate the fact that you can't look out the front window like you could on the R42s 😞 It takes away some of the excitement of railfanning.

R42’s were the best trains ever, I watched a video and it was the final run and also its 2022 and people are watching this beautiful memory :)
Remember when the R32s were used as work service trains for the R179s undergoing testing
The R211A looks freakin awesome 👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻👌🏻. Unfortunately after it enters service within the few days it will get dirty just like the R179s

Great test track!! And having t42s ss a back up is good😀
I still miss the R42 subway Trains 🚆
So do I. My brother and I never got to ride them again before they retired

Exactly how many of these 211s have shown up already? All I’ve seen so far is the one TEN car set

At the moment it’s only the 10 car test train set. More will be on the way.

How u see so many of this rare trains
When will those new guys come to service
Coming in 3 months the R211 will be in first day in service cant wait for it😁😀
