I have had my Valiant FF399 for 2 years I think. I had an accident early this year where I high-sided and greeted the rocky/gravely road side with my head and shoulder. My helmet held up amazingly only copping some scars on the outer shell and no cracks appearing on the outer or inner shells. On top of that, I didnt even get a headache or red marks on my head/face from the impact. (I had a friend who high-sided with a belle, The helmet was destroyed and he was left with serious concussion and red marks on his forehead.) So I am so damn impressed with it, I now own a valiant FF900 and have been wearing it on the couch watching tv whilst I set the foam to my face XD. And boy, the 180 modular feature is awesome through summer.
I love my LS1, so I will almost certainly replace it with the MK2. I wear mine open unless it's raining so heavily that the raindrops are like needles 😁 I agree that it's noisy, but I wear ear plugs and can live with that. I don't find it heavy, and it feels much lighter than my old Neotec. There was plenty of space to mount my Sena on the outside. Finally, I got knocked off my bike while wearing this helmet and it stood up well to impact with the road.
This is the most comprehensive short review of the LS2 Valiant 2. You provide all relevant information, weight, noise, comfort, functions etc.. Thank you! The same but at 1500 g, that was it.
@@sportsbikeshop Many people do not believe what only a 160 g difference (Shark) can make to the comfort a helmet. However, most flip-ups are around the same weight as the LS2, so ...the next time I visit the helmet shop I would still give it a try, for the benefit of trying how it feels with the better weight distribution, a point mentioned by you.
I loved the concept of this helmet so bought one about 2 years ago. I really tried to love it, but the noise was excessive, it felt cheap it creaks a lot when you put it on and in use. It never felt really comfortable even after 1000mls of use. Gave it to my 35year old son for using on his Honda 110 wave (deliverooing) and he loves it!
I just got mine, everything is good (look, confort, ventilation) but the noise : WTF!!! Even my cheap 80€ helmet do better. I just lost 280€ (because no refund on security gear) & will end up selling it online for a fraction of the cost. I think I will jump to the high end helmet like the Shoei Neotec II or GT-AIR 2 or Schuberth C4 Basic. Do not waste your time with that Helmet if the noise is something you need to avoid (like me, I have Tinnitus), even with -27db earplug : it's noisy.
gr8 vid 👍🏻 sir, please do review video for LS2 Valiant 2 vs Valiant X. explain as well which one is better for the air ventilation during riding in traffic jam in the hot sunny days. thanks.
Looks like that's a new-for-2022 model. We'll certainly do a review of that helmet when it becomes available - and I'll try to find a traffic jam on a hot sunny day for you. Living in Britain, I think the traffic jam will be easier to find than the hot sunny day. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony
I've not had any personal experience of the Evo-One 2 so I couldn't compare them, sorry. I found the Valiant 1 a little heavy on a long trip so if the Evo-One 2 is lighter there may be a benefit there. Thanks for getting in touch and apologies that I couldn't be more useful. Cheers, Tony
Just to want to warn you that the pinlock and pinlock visors for Shark Evo GT are not available in the UK at this moment in time or possibly for the foreseeable future if ever again according to several dealers and main suppliers I've spoken to. Total crap IMO.
Tough question, Jérôme! You'd expect any helmet to be quiet behind a tall screen like that, but if you are a tall rider (or long in the body) then you might not be in the 'bubble' behind the screen and it's possible the air will hit the helmet in a way that generates noise. Personally, I would say if a quiet ride is a priority then going for a helmet like this is a gamble. Sorry I can't give a definitive answer, and thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony
I realize that this reply is late, but this might help others that stumble on this exact question. I have the Valiant 2, and rented a 1200RT while my bike was down for repairs this past fall. With the windscreen all the way up on the BMW it was both very quiet and free of turbulence. Amazing experience, really. But like others here have said - without this kind of wind protection the Valiant 2 is just too noisy for extended trips at highway speeds. IMHO. On my GSX-R1000 (zero wind protection) I have bespoke earplugs on a pouch permanently attached to my key. Shame, since the helmet is otherwise fantastic. Hope this helps!
We don't have the Revolver Evo here in the UK. I think the 5.5lb weight is the complete package including bags, books, box, labels etc. RevZilla list that helmet at 4.15lb (1882g) so the Valiant 2 would still be a little lighter than that one! Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony
I have it and now I'm looking for a new helmet. I don't have much experience with helmets but this one is way to noisy for me. Faster riding without ear plugs is unbearable.
Big question! When flipped back the helmet is an open-face and (hopefully obviously) that means less protection than when it's in full-face mode. The Valiant 2 has not been SHARP tested yet, but the original Valiant scored four stars, which is very respectable. SHARP testing is a UK Government scheme where helmets are subjected to impact tests and given a rating based on that. When flip helmets of all kinds are tested under SHARP, the testers also note whether the chinbar remains closed on impact. In 97% of impacts on the Valiant 1 the chinbar remained closed. The average percentage across the 108 flip helmets tested up to January 2021 was 80.2%. If we're talking flip-over helmets in general there are three helmets of this type with SHARP ratings - the Shark Evo-One and Evo-One 2 (both now discontinued models) scored four stars and a 100% rating for the chinbar remaining closed. I hope that all makes sense, and thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony
from my own crash experience with the LS2 FF399, it did remarkebly well in a head first high-side accident. no headache or read marking on my head meaning the inner cushion worked a charm, and the outer and inner shell did not crack. hell, the only damage was a couple light scars on the outer shell. i can only imagine the FF900 is going to be just as good, or better. but as mentioned, when its open, you only get the protection of an open faced helmet. i tent to only ride with mine open when at low speeds and cruising through town.
Thanks for getting in touch. I wouldn't suggest fitting one to a helmet like this as there's not really a suitable point that will work in both configurations and would let the chinbar be lifted or lowered. Cheers, Tony
tech screw it to the side. get a mate to use some 75mm screws and make sure you wear the helmet so he can get an accurate position... jokes of course, but you could probably mount it on the side below the hinge. id say right side as left is usually for 1. the sun shield and 2. an after market com unit.
The pressure mark isn't necessarily a problem in itself, and it will ease in time. If it is uncomfortable or distracting then that's an issue, but I know people who've ridden in helmets that leave significant pressure marks but they have been perfectly comfortable. Cheers, Tony
Any reviewer can only pass on their own experience and I try to make that as clear as possible without repeating the same 'small print' every time. As for weight, we've weighed 89 helmets over the last two years (always in size medium, for comparison purposes) and only three have weighed more than the LS2 Valiant 2. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony

Funny that, as a rookie and this being my first ever helmet, I too look to raise the visor from the bottom as you suggested.

I love my LS2 helmet. It's comfortable and provides the right protection I want out of a helmet. A little pricey but worth the money.
A really well thought out comprehensive and clear presentation. Well done 👍

Hi Buddy
Thanks for the nice review
Which one better for long trip LS2 or shark evo one 2 ?

Flip-up vs Flip-Over but Flip-OFF would be a whole new category 🤣🤣
Think I'll spend more and get a neotec 2.
My boss will never be upset by comments like that 😄 Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony
Of course you'll be buying a helmet that doesn't flip all the way back. I went the other way, Neotec to LS2
How would I mount a gopro on this helmet?
