I've had this question multiple times, when at the main menu you need to press the M2 and B to enter the game. You can always change the profile however you want but those are the buttons that made sense to me.

Definitely I want to see more of these I haven't dived into it but I think there was another one. My favourite Riivolution mod so far is the Newer Super Mario Bros mod that is a whole new game basically!

I will love to win an Ayn Odin 2. I use my S23 Ultra for Android emulation. Android is so easy and amazing to use for Dophin, AetherSX2 and Yuzu emulator. Steam Deck and Rog Ally is good as well.

Hey I wish I knew what goat meant 😜 in regards to your question though, the only way I've found to get the pointer working is to set your right joystick as a pointer in the motion simulation section. Wii is a hard one to configure because of motion controls so patches like this need to be more appreciated so more gamers will make them for Wii!

This is super cool for Wii, It's a system that seems hampered emulation-wise due to its weird controllers. Nintendo kinda does that on all its systems, but Nintendo only succeeds due to it's well made in-house games. Switch was a gamechanger, but they also mostly got rid of the gimmicky controls and made it easier for third-party to succeed on the device.
It definitely is the problem with devices like the Odin is we're looking directly at the screen meaning the Wiimote would be facing the ceiling technically. The Gyro in the device is based on a flat surface and with many hours lost trying to figure out a different way I found this mod which has worked amazing.
I had the hardest time setting this up on my PC a few years ago. Would have been nice to have had a good guide back then.
Gimmicky controls, like games that rely solely on whatever the current graphic fidelity happens to be, age really badly. When they throw so much into a fad that will eventually change, it makes it harder to preserve and seem worse experientially in the retrospective.
Having heroes that work this all out, like this mod, just out of their own passion is very impressive.

Very interesting. I think last week or 2 weeks back you had a video showing how to setup the O2 for wii and specifically showed how to make a profile for mario galaxy 1 and 2. That works fine. So why even do this with the riivolution when I followed your older video for wii setup? All I had to do was add the shake which you missed on that video. Just curious.
Yes those controls will work fine until you get to specific worlds that require you to fly. I didn't know this at the time so now all I use to play is this mod because it works perfectly for everything.
Ok so can you launch this from a launcher such as Daijisho or launch box? Can you clarify to start these 2 games to use this mod you have to long press on the game, and the start with riivolution patches? If so that is cool if it can't be done from a launcher because the benefits are worth it. @@DNAMobileGaming

On my Odin I just used the default file manager to extract the zip but usually I use an app called Rar by rarlabs on the Play Store. It can extract large files where as the default file manager cannot.

Thanks for this sweet method, but how about launching this through Dajisho with the riivolution patches? Would I need to patch the .ISO files?
Right now as I haven't messed with the activity that is launched yes that is the case I just patched Galaxy 2 and confirmed that Daijisho does load it properly I'm going to see if I can use this program with termux as well for those that don't have a PC.
Hey man, just wanted to say great video, although I’ve been having an issue with the top left screen, as when I play through a boss fight in super Mario galaxy 2 the frames flash on the top left of my screen as the fight goes on and it gets very distracting, if you know of any solution could you please let me know, thank you!
Are you playing on the Odin 2? Did you setup the emulator with my guide? You can install a better graphics driver as well alongside my main guide to setup Dolphin.
@@DNAMobileGaming UPDATE: after reviewing more of your guide I have found that enabling “Skip EFB Access from CPU” in the Hacks settings in the graphics menu solves the problem, however it also created a new problem where I can no longer pick up starbits nor shoot them straight with my cursor, if you know of any other reason as to why this problem may be occurring and how I may resolve it could you please let me know? Thank you!

How do I edit the buttons? My M buttons are already mapped for android functions
You can configure the buttons for your M1/M2 by navigating into the controller profiles I have a guide that explains controllers as well. You could do anything you want after watching that guide technically with your button layout, I just did a favor by creating 2 profiles (Xbox/Odin) do avoid that step. I linked the video in the description just now!
Hi, great video! Tried to get this working but the right stick struggles to move the courser down, it only moves in short
intervals and require a full pull. Other then that everything works great. The right stick works in all other situations so it does not seem to be a hardware problem. Do you have any ideas for how I can fix this? Thanks!
I'm not really sure I've never had this issue, did you check your controller profile by chance and make sure you didn't set something different?
@@DNAMobileGaming Did a bit of troubleshooting and it seems like it's a problem that happens somewhere between Odin's xbox layout setting and this specific patch. Tried same setup on my pc with and xbox-controller, no problem. tried the xbox profile with my odin 2 on golden eye 007 and no problem. Changed controller layout to Odin and used your Odin profile and that worked.
SOLVED IT! Make sure the game has no gamecube controller connected under the gamecube input settings. That was the problem. Does not matter if you use the odin or xbox layout. Cheers!

Well this is a patch for these two games. The controller profiles are also raw I didn't setup every button you'd have to go in and set those up. I do have a Wii setup guide however you could check out to get a better understanding.

I'm going to tell you now, any games that require motion controls with handhelds like this will cause headaches. You simply can't stare down at a controller that is meant to be pointed at a TV.
So you can’t fix it to on the analog
Any games that require any motion are a pain on Android you need to think about how Wii works that's why this patch for example exists. The game was high demand and someone created a cool patch to convert motion controls to full controller controls.

Did you copy the correct controller ini file for your selected controller? Xbox or Odin? Did you start the game with the riivolution method not through Daijisho for example? Did you set the default profile for the game to your specific controller for the Xbox or Odin?
Tried to get this to work with my RP4 . Im most likely messed up somewhere. So far no luck in getting it to work. Is it different compared to setting it up on the odin?
Yes you need to setup the controller profile manual I haven't released a profile for the RP4 but all you need to do is change the extension to classic controller and configure your buttons. Setup your main WiiMote like normal and then in your edit game settings set the controller profile of Galaxy 1 and 2 to the Classic Controller. Otherwise the other part of copying the riivolution patch isn't any different I did a generic guide for Android with an external controller attached as well maybe that video will help more.
I was wondering how do you get the riuvolution folder into your files?
If you're using the Odin 2 you need to open Dolphin then navigate to your file manager. The Dolphin directory path will appear at this point so you can navigate into the Riivolution folder to create the lowercased riivolution folder within it.
Ok and one more question is this only for the Odin?
Well no, but the configuration file for the controller profile is for the Odin. You can access the data folder another way to gain access to it if you're not using the Odin.

If you follow the guide it shouldn't be unavailable, an alternative method if you're not using the Odin 2 is to navigate to settings/Config/User Data/Open User Data Folder then copy the folder.
Hoping someone can help me….I’ve been trying to get the IR on galaxy 2 to work with yoshis tongue for 2 years.
I can get the sensor to move but it doesn’t detect anything on screen so can’t collect star bits or use yoshis tongue. I have watched tutorials from Taki etc but no luck. What am I missing?
This is a mod that will help you with everything to do with Galaxy 1/2 the reason you can't do it natively is because you need to think about how the Wiimote for the physical Wii works. I spent hours on this myself then found this modification which allows for native controls. Watch the video and try it, it'll work and make your dreams come true!
I can't find that classic controller profile..it seems that they remove it
It's in the zip file that is linked in the description below. I just double checked to make sure the Wiimote profile was still there and it is.
In my case I can't get past the " press a+b buttons " on Super Mario Galaxy using the all-stars configuration, like it recognizes inputs put not a and b at the same time 🤔
You need to press the back M2 and A or B the configuration is weird I haven't tested with the Dolphin Bar yet but that is a plan to see if it's the same with the real Classic Controller.

Did you copy the right profile for your controller type? Are you using the Odin 2 (some weren't using the Odin 2 that's why I ask) as I made two profiles one for Xbox and one for the Odin. You can customize the controller profile however you like btw I just did this to make it simple to just copy the classic controller profile instead of having to make it yourself
Will it work on an Ayn Odin pro version(the "Odin 1")?
You can do this on any Android device that will play SMG 1 and 2 you just need to setup the profile for the controller to your devices specifically. So yes it does work on the Odin 1 Pro which I do have as well.
Finally
It didn't work for me. Have the NTSC America version, but when I copy the SMG2-ClassicController-NTSCU inside the "riivolution" folder and star with riivolution, it doesn't show these riivolution menus.
Are you on Discord? I'm assuming you're trying for Super Mario Galaxy 2 SMG2 is for the second game SMG is the first. Sure you know that but just making sure. I'm grabbing the USA one now to double check and will get back to make sure that rhe U is for sure the USA version as it should be.
I just checked with Super Mario Galaxy 2 USA and SMG2-ClassicController-NTSCU is for USA as I thought. Try the others or copy them all doesn't matter really but you might want to find out which one you have specifically 🤔
I made everything exact like you told, but it do not work for me. In Mario Galaxy when I start the game it says press a and b buttons. I press and nothing happens. When I'm trying to map buttons something goes wrong. For A button I press B button on my odin 2 but it marks as A, Y marks as X, X as Y and A as B. Can't understand why. Maybe something wrong with my Odin 2. Help please! 🙏
The M2 and B button are set you can change the profile however you want but that's how it's set by default.

Yes this is possible on Windows you just need to set your riivolution patch path and configure the Classic Controller for your extension. I did this for my Rog Ally and Desktop with a wireless controller.

Is there a way to auto-hide the cursor when you're not using it? I have auto-hide selected in my Dolphin controller profile but it doesn't seem to work for some reason.
Also, I just noticed that when playing with these controls, the launch stars don't work properly (for me at least). Mario spins just fine normally but it doesn't work when he's in a launch star for some reason. Any idea what is wrong with that?
Hey there isn't a way that I've found to hide the star other than putting it in a corner of the screen to shoot Mario you just press Y or X when you jump into the star. This works with both Xbox or Odin mode. You can check the PNG file that has a picture for the controls as well for reference 😃

You can buy you still need to setup your controller profile manually. The riivolution patch is generic for Dolphin.

This is for the Odin 2 that is why it's not working for the Odin 1. All you need to do is manually setup your Wii Mote and Classic controller profile and select the Odin controller.

Well you wouldn't need a nunchuck you just need the profiles for the controller as shown in the guide.

Hey do you mean the button where Mario spins which is technically the shake of the device usually. If so you learn how to do that part way through the beginning of Galaxy 2.

Update: after overwriting my profile with odin classic controller it worked! Huge win getting to play galaxy 1 and 2 with hd textures now😍
Yeah you had to run it with the Riivolution hack plus you needed to setup the correct controller profile. I only did the controller profile thing to make it easier but I feel I should have maybe shown how to set it up per controller type (XBOX/ODIN MODE) as someone else had a sort of issue with this as well.

This is only for Galaxy 1&2 but it would be nice to see more of these. I tried to understand how it works too but that might be a thing I study more soon.
Hi, I've noticed theres an issue with the profile. When you don't touch the controller for few minutes and Mario goes to sleep, the controller disconnects and you can't wake it up, even with the A button.
Has anyone else experience the same problem?

Hey yes I noticed this last night quick fix, go into your Controller Profile that you copied at the beginning and edit the Wiimote set the A button to button A I'm updating the files now.

Frontends like daijishô won't work with riivolution as the game has to start with these patches and directly from the emulator.
I guess this is a limitation from the emulator itself.
If you know a way to start the game without having to press 'start' within riivolution, please let us know.

@Santee2013 there is a way that requires a computer currently I am going to see if it's possible via winlator or another method on the device. It would require patching the original game with the mod which works just the same without having to go through the riivolution selector.

I am on the fence with the odin 2 pro and the steam deck oled.
Do you have a huge steak library and if so are your games compatible with the Steam Deck? If not could you stream your games within your home instead? Sort of things to think of, I have yet to get a Deck despite being able to.

You'd need to change the controller in that case in the controller profile settings. The two profiles I shared are only for the Odin 2 which have 2 controller drivers.

Will these settings work for Razer Kishi V2? I'm trying to change device setting in Wii Remote 1 from Xbox controller to Razer Kishi V2, but it's not responding, i can't get past "press a and b" starting screen. But it looks like it recognizes my device, the "press a and b" text is moving and floating. I'm using your Xbox controller set up.
Hey I'm going to do a video about this now at this point lol but for now basically you need to navigate into the controller profile settings. Change the layout and button mapping to match your Kishi V2. I have a Kishi V2 as well so I'll have to share using it 😁.

Yeah I also did a guide about how to edit your controller profiles for Dolphin for the Odin 2. It's pretty genetic, the only difference is the controller has a different keyloader profile built in so you'll have to set the buttons yourself per controller.
I don't know, i thought Xbox controller got same layout and button mapping as Razer Kishi V2, there's nothing i can change :/.

You can use this if Galaxy works on your 3+ you just need to change the controller.

You just need to copy the classic controller file like shown and press the combination buttons. You can check the image for reference as well.

Figured, you need to set the controller type to Odin style. If it’s Xbox style, won’t work.
Hey I updated the files do you can use either the Xbox or Odin layout plus I fixed an issue when your Wiimote goes into sleep mode it can be woken up by pressing A.

Well the motion is integrated into the device the downside to Wii motion is some games like Wii Sports for example are going to be extremely hard to play. That's why this custom method was developed for a game that everyone loved and wanted to work for mobile emulation!

I dont know why but my dolphin doesnt show any option when i click on "start with Riivolution patches"
That would mean you copied the wrong file for galaxy or didn't copy it correctly. Make sure you create a riivolution folder in lowercased inside the Riivolution folder. The easiest way to get it to work is just copy all the .xml files to that folder instead of specific ones if you don't know what region your game is. If you need more help jump to Discord I try to be more active there.
I have done all of that, the only way that I manage to solve it was installing the dolphin MMJR 2, from there the riivolution options appears normally
Are you using the Odin 2 or a different device? Also the riivolution folder has to be manually created inside the Riivolution folder like shown. If you're using just a phone you can use Zarchiver to view all files in the data directory. The Odin 2 default file manager is accessible however my default which is nice.
I am using an odin 2 as well and using the dolphin 5.0.20931 and no luck yet I have created the folder riivolution inside the Riivolution copied all the xml files but still no luck
The smg2 link is the same as the smg1 they have the same filed

@@DNAMobileGaming Yes, I play on ayn odin 2 max and also when I switch to all star I can't get past the start menu when I have to press A and B at the same time, whereas with Nvidia it works :/.

I chose the odyn controller profile
The A+B buttons don't work at the menu you have to press B and M2 to get past the menu. You can configure the classic controller however you want though I just supplied it for those that don't know how to configure it. The patch just helps with this.
@@DNAMobileGaming I've just tried with the M2 and B keys and it works, but for the ZL key I don't know why it doesn't work when I try to make it go with the virtual Pad, Mario stays crouched down and I have to press it a 2nd time for him to stand up.

Yes it sure does the best part about the device is the fact that you can use gyro functionality with Wii
I always us pal roms when I can.
Same except for PS2 lately when it comes to textures at least.

You most likely copied the wrong file than the easiest way to copy the files is just to copy all of the SMG-ClassicController xml files to the folder shown. I showed how to check if your game was a PAL or USA region etc but Dolphin will pick this for you if you just copy them all. I like to save space no matter if it's KB of data so I only copy the file I need. Hope that helps!@@fikricraft_

This sucks, I thought you had the touchscreen set so you could collect the star fragments. Making the right stick relative as a pointer is easy and all that's done here 🙄
This doesn't work at all when you get to the flying or swimming sections it messes with those areas of the game. I had configured my own controller settings then when I got to those areas the game was messed up I found this by deep diving the interwebs for PC so I converted it to Android.

Dolphin version doesn't matter the latest version of Dolphin still works for this off the Dolphin Emu website. This was an older version and to this day I still use it.
you think this works for retroid pocket 3+?
I haven't played a lot of Wii on the 3+ but if you can get Galaxy going it'll work with any Dolphin emulator as I first tested it on the PC version before Android 😁
@@DNAMobileGaming I did get the first one but the second I haven't tried. I did it on Dolphin MMJR and it works but a few bug here and there (slow down and the audio).

Mario Kart Wii: a black box on the conner left, some tracks have small slow down and the audio breaks
Mario Party 9: some slow down and audio break but not a lot
Mario Galaxy: some slow down and audio break but not a lot
