  • Today we go into the deep-end with this exploration from our friend JVT.
    What's happening here?
Onward is a true stereo effect, so the left and right channels are entirely independent. This means that by hard-panning your input audio, each ear will be capturing and playing back different samples - like a dynamic two-track sampler, spread across the stereo field.
Pretty cool, pretty fun, and it has some deep creative potential.
Big thanks to JVT and Dream Date Studio for diving in.

I now have both. They're pretty different once you start messing with them. If the tensor had a dedicated freeze channel and eq filter like this does, I wouldn't have bought this. I find the tensor more user-friendly, but has fewer options for tweaking. I find it easier to just plug and play then Onward. The different harmonies are cool on it too. Each has its place. I wanna see them collaborate on something that's the best of both worlds!

How do you midi-synced to tempo in logic or Ableton?

You need to make sure that the DAW sends out a midi clock signal and that you have a way to output midi from your computer. Your audio interface might have midi ports. If not, you need a separate midi interface. Then it’s just a matter of connecting the interface to the Outward with the right cable.
