The King's colours flap solemnly in the wind; STRAKEN hobbling to his feet, surrounded by blood and dripping gore, hardly resembling his past comrades Exposed wiretry buzzing and zapping, his bionic arm torn off The monotonous beeping of a teleport homer "At what cost" *beep* *beep* *beep*
You talking about the unit leaders at the start reminded me of trying to fit the most models in one unit of guardsmen. It was 1 command squad with an ogryn bodyguard and attaches, a tech priest with servitors, and a 20 man infantry squad having a total of 34 models in one single unit.
Potential changing one of the Inquisition units to a Rogue Trader Entourage and full Voidsmen unit would give you an infiltrating option and a useful redeploy to throw of the opponent’s deployment… I think some big Ogryn units would be cool in this sort of list, providing firepower and well as punch to keep the pressure on and perhaps draw fire for the infantry moving through the open… Love maxing out the Ogryn Bodyguards, one of my favourite thematic units! Perhaps I’m just thinking of an Ogryn Rifles army! 😅
Mordian, would you ever consider adding a few more melee focused elements from this list into your more standard Guard army? Maybe throw in a blob of combat Cadians into a standard Guard list so you can bring them up not in the first wave, but maybe in the second wave to make contact in combat relatively intact? Or is it better to just have Straken as your one-man melee squad in a more typical Guard army list?
Okay serious question as a knights player who needs auxiliaries: how do you actually BUILD tournament legal henchmen? Everything I find is about kitbashing daemonhosts or "just use any guy in a robe as the mystic" and so on but I cannot figure out what would or wouldnt pass muster at an actual tournament
Have you tried one of the more aggressive IG combat lists that use rough riders and bullgryn? Something like Gaunts ghosts Lord solar Straken 2 command squads 3 full rough rider squads 3 full bullgryn squads Some catachans A firepower base like some basilisks or a superheavy. Ive heard of it doing well and am gonna try something along those lines myself this saturday
I tried it with 30 rough riders, lord solar, 3x3 bullgryn and 3x3 ogyrn and then filled with 20 catachan, straken, infantry 25 man blocks (command squads included) and had a really good time, actually, got to watch roughriders and abhumans swarm and destroy a monolith in close combat - be recklessly aggressive and play to the objective. I usually play fixed (cleanse/engage) and I typically bank CP for Reinforcements.
If he's in the middle of a legal situation over this, he _can't_ talk about it without risking his case, so it's not a big deal _for now_ that he's not going over all the details. Also, if he just complains like crazy, that could make it harder to get a new job because potential employers may see that and worry he'll do the same to them if they have to let him go.
^this. There's a pretty big tradeoff especially in pure infantry guard where you wanna use Reinforcements religiously. Smaller squads are worth it in Guard if you want throw away OC (like the scout-mera), but don't support them with officers, etc.. Minimum Sized Units (MSU) is very viable on a few armies, but more so something like Eldar, which have rules that synergize with this (Aeldari get a hit/wound reroll per unit for example. 2 5mans have 2 times the rerolls when compared to 1 10man).
Mordian stop I seriously can't afford more horde armies... After this one. At least this time I already have everything except the Inquisitors/Henchmen. Don't need to buy a million bugs.
People should start using chess clocks. Keep the turns fair, and prevents slow play. People will be encouraged to learn short cuts to playing their army, and helps keep order.
kinda gimps hoard armies and buffs elite armies though, no shortcut to rolling 60 dice from one 20 blob of hormogaunts, wheere a knight player has much more time to consider his moves with his/her 5 entire models.
@@SPNKr02 you need chess clocks for tournaments tbh, lets say you have a 3 hour game, you can easily cheese this by playing an army that scores big the first 3 turns. slow play it so the game doesnt finish and just win. and horde armies dont take THAT much longer to play. you just cant micromanage moving each guy super precisely. just measure fron guy and back guy and cram the rest inbetween in a reasonable manner.

Legend with a Malcador there
I guess "fix Bayonets!" it is...
Why, are they broken?
I thought it was more of a meme, but after this Battle report...
Eat.
Sleep.
BAYONETS!
Repeat.

i love the fuzzy leman russ with the floppy barrel.
"...and lost another blob to Bobby G... and a redemptor, stormraven and predator" so half the list then, not just bobby G. lol :D
Yeah, but Bobby gets credit because he's Roboute Guilliman, author of the Codex Astartes.

God, what a couple of Forgefiends would do to those blobs...
The two words that send shivers down the spines of even the most battle hardened iron warriors.
*"Fix Bayonets!"*
Very cool list. Well done on the wins.
Great After Action. Straken's reputation does precede him lol
Can’t believe we forgot to put even a Cyclopes in this list lmao! 😂😂 - we really all stayed up too late that night 😂😂
(To die and make the techpriests go cray cray..)
Mordian could you link your lists as text form so it is easier to follow along and recreate
It's done :)
Congratulations man! For the Emperor!
I quite like Straken in a single infantry squad, with command squad and Ogryn bodyguard with the brute shield. Lots more staying power
We have won, but the cost was high. Hundreds dead. Thousands wounded. I have the numbers here if you wish.
Now that's soldiering.
They don’t like it up em!

I would love to see how well this list fights the 120 boyz green tide list that was on Tabletop Tactics recently
I would love that too!
Way to spoil it Mordian, telling us in the title it was undefeated 😂 congrats mate 👏🎉
I was trying to get people Hyped haha😅

What are the base stands you have them in I can’t find those anywhere I really want to get some for my kreig
Reporting for Duty , Sir o7
I like the list , but I would want to add Rapiers to give another cheap target .
Ignore them add your own peril
"Our unit had two sticks and a rock"
*racks bolter*
"And we had to share the rock"
-Johnson didn't end up sharing the rock
Morpheus told me that you were the traitor. I’m very confused
thats because he is the traitor, he just got to the vox caster first
Sounds like something a traitor would say

I just had a thought, technically it is better to take smaller but more squads, just because it reduces blast weapon attacks
It depends. A smaller unit is less efficient to give orders, leaders, or stratagems to, including reinforcements.

THE EMPEROR’S TRUE FINEST!
Hi mordian, great list, have u not thought of some exterminator, so that the infantry can have ap1 or ap2 ?
So did this make you rethink arming your Termagants with Special Weapons?
Are you able to cleanse and charge at the same turn?
What's the mini in the thumb nail? Also thanks Mordian
Catachan Colonel special edition
Thank you
He’s based on the “Catachan Devil” book
AKA Dillon
This is a Warhammer fantasy list
I also want to fight this list with my slaanesh deamons list
Next meme list: 64 horse rush cavalry horde???
Your guardsmen remind me of Luigi
Where are these RTTs? Do they have a Facebook page? 😊
Google just play Liverpool events and you should find them :)
No world eaters? It's so sad.
Is guard infantry spam dead now that you can only use reinforcements once per game?
Mordian stop I seriously can't afford more horde armies... After this one.
At least this time I already have everything except the Inquisitors/Henchmen. Don't need to buy a million bugs.
The emperor protects!
I think both players misplay on the Ritual. The objectives need to be set up in no man's land. Not in your own deployment zone.
They were setup JUST outside the deployment zone
@@MordianGlory Ah fair enough!
What's the model from the thumbnails
It's a limited edition Catachan captain

I thought a close combat infantry guard army was called Orks? 😂
Cherry Coke.. add bourbon .. heaven
Is it a Guardsmen thing to have 2 leaders in one unit?
Guard battline units :)
@@MordianGlory pretty awesome I’d like that for my deamons
The GW fuckery has really taken the wind out of my sails Mordian. How do you feel about it?
Don't read the online drama, it's all bullshit. Just play the game and it becomes clear that it's still really fun :)
@@MordianGlory I get that. I just can't bring myself to give money to GW while they're doing their utmost to inject woke crap into the franchise.
😅
Any of your opponents die of old age waiting for the Guard to finish shooting??
Nope, this list played very fast. Not much shooting at all :)
