We have 3 of these iPads for our family members ruclips.net/user/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA . Great apple product and provides the necessary performance needed for a basic tablet. No one in our family requires an iPad Pro, so this iPad fits our needs well. I’ve never had complaints on my Apple purchases and this iPad follows suit. Def worth the money.
The 12.9 is perfect for sketching and drawing rough ideas without the need of an actual pen and paper (which is only the advantage of owning an ipadpro over a laptop), not sure why would you recommend the smaller size. Drop the magic keyboard and spend the extra money on the 12.9 and the pencil.
I can't buy a ipad when some laptops on market come w/ a good pen and a flexible format. Surface pro as a example, and they have a very good point, they can run CAD, 3D and BIM softwares, not very good obviously, but is a heavy plus for work. This can be a interesting tech comparassion
I currently have a MacBook Air and I’ve been using it for a year for architecture. Personally I’m more of a digital architect and I’m considering getting an iPad Pro. I don’t know if I should or not. My MacBook is kinda slow when running programs like photoshop and auto cad or google sketch up.
You'll need a computer regardless of your preference to succeed in architecture. Ipad still can't run any high end programs like archicad or revit. The ipad is a fantastic tool and I highly recommend it if you can afford it. Priority should always be the computer though.
My son is a 2nd-year architectural student. Would like to purchase the iPad product that he can use once he graduates. Thoughts on the iPad Air 11" 256 GB vs the iPad Pro 11" 128GB. Seriously want to make the best purchase upfront. He has an amazing laptop, so this is not an issue. Really do not want to make a purchase that will be obsolete in 2 - 5 years. Loved your video - and would appreciate your thoughts.
Hey man, I’m thinking of getting either an Asus ProArt PX13 - super capable 2 in 1 laptop. I have an 11.9 inch iPad Pro, but bring that AND my laptop along and its assorted required tech is inconvenient. So is there any chance you might review the px13? It has a dedicated gpu and the SAME powerful processor as it’s 16 inch counter part, and i want to use it for architectural work and my masters next year. So please let us all know. Your thoughts and opinions. I want to make my workflow more seamless and i need to know if that px13 is worth investing in, or simply using what i have, or even upgrading to an m3 iPad Pro max (and deal with a disjointed workflow 😅)
Unlikely I’ll review it. For masters I always suggest a desktop set up and work from home as much as you can. The time you’ll save waiting for renders is invaluable when comparing to laptops. If you need a laptop/ipad go budget just to make things work for 10mins at uni, invest in the desktop. You’ll get more power for less money. I did the whole 2-in-1 thing with the microsoft surface back in the day, hated my life, sold it all and went full desktop, never looked back. Didn’t even have a laptop towards the end.
Many thanks for this video. I have had the M1 iPad Pro 11” since it came out, complete with Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard . I have been trying to find a good app for me to draw up to scale diagrams for various projects made from wood. I don’t own any laptop or pc as i hate windows and can’t afford a mac and iPad. So iPad only for me as it does everything i need. Sometimes i have to find other ways round it. Any way i figured architects would be the best to get app advice from as it is kind of abviously a more in-depth version of what i want to do. I have downloaded morpholio. Now just got to figure it all out Many thanks again
Good vid bro It is a phenomal piece of tech. Love the 11” after using the 12.9” for 5 years . Also been bothered with the face time camera. Just swipe up again and lift your palm ie no need to enter your password.
Do you recommend only using an Ipad Pro for architecture ? Bc I’m going to study architecture and idk if I need a PC or a laptop plus the Ipad or just the Ipad
Please suggest some good laptops for architecture students who’s gonna join uni this year. And how is M1 MacBook Pro 13” to use as an architecture student?
I don't think M1 is going to help because of the compatibility with programs, personally I would chose the 16' with intel i9, or just something above i5
Hello, Im an architecture student and I’m in my second year and we are going to use the computer with our projects and ect.. What do u suggest to me that buying MacBook pro m1 or iPad pro m1?
It’d be better to have a laptop so you can use the proper software like autocad, sketch up etc. Those softwares are really powerful and need to be on a computer or laptop
did you tried install windows on virtual machine on ipad pro and run full version of auto cad offline from desktop version on windows... maybe its good idea for you.. is enough calculation power to run and windows games works on emulator windows machine on imac.. and may be also bersion not cloud decktop on ipad pro,,, Maybe is worth to check it and install :) cheers
Let’s say that if I mostly do my work in school computer lab , and have a laptop powerful enough to run architectural software at home. Would you recommend a iPad Pro for an architecture student? For class notes, document schoolwork, sketching and professor comments?
Does anyone still use archaic AutoDesk software? I haven't used any as an architect with my own practice for 20 years. The fact that it won't run off an iPad is not an issue. Even if ArchiCAD and Vectorworks won't run either is not a problem as BIMx and Vectorworks Remote (the VR and visualisation software) do. The other huge plus is the LiDAR to avoid having to use topographical and measured building surveyors who often cannot handle point clouds or IFC files.
Im architect. Since you had mentioned pdfs, what program do you use to open your pdfs? Do you use bluebeam at all for mark ups, i.e. it offers more options to mark up drawings then a regular pdf program
I’m not sure about you but architects, at least in my experience as one, do a lot more than just draw on archicad/autocad. In fact this is more so the sole definition of a Draftsperson not an architect.

you skipped the most important feature. LiDAR. maybe do a complete practice use scenario for the same. and great apps which can help us architects.
Food for thought - Actions speak better than Speech, Show us basic example how architects use iPad Pro
Exactly my thought hes just talking and not SHOWING

8:43 pro tip: ipados actually has a system wide replacement shortcut for esc key. You just have to press cmd + . (Full stop key)
Well well well! Great tip! Still disappointed it's not in the top corner.
if you dont hit Esc compulsively while using autocad-archicad, you are working too slow

You can just touch screen instead of power button and swipe up.
I was gonna say… who uses the power button to wake on these lmao

We finally have a workable version of autocad for ipads
What is it called?
Thanks for the review. Ordered the 12.9 inches. Can't to do some sketching off Pro-create.

Hi Susan. I would suggest the 256gb ipad air. Even though the pro is a better product he will need the storage space
They're so good looking. And so is the iPad ;)

wish i could have it 😊 thanks for information very useful
Im a geology student taking up my internship at the moment, which one should i buy 128gb or 256gb? Or should i go for a laptop? Please let me know!.
Geology is a very different subject to architecture, I wouldn’t even know where to start the recommendation haha
@@DavidTomic I got the info. Anyways thanks for replying 😍

Glad this video was helpful mate! I do have a more in-depth version review of morpholio on the channel if you'd like to go hunting haha
Brilliant review video mate! Makes me want to upgrade...AGAIN! :-)
Hahaha! The only problem with technology 😂

@Tweed Penguin the portability ie smaller soze and light weight and much better for reading big enough for pencil and sketches

You NEED a good computer. You don't need an ipad for architecture.

I am not an architect, but I got both. 🤣
Autocad can work on it ? Or maybe alternatif for edit dwg

Havent tried it yet but have been thinking about it for a while. Just don't see the need for it on the ipad if you have a desktop honestly.
Hey! What do you think of the new iPad Air in comparison to the pro?
Excellent purchase if you can't afford the pro. The high refresh rate is worth the upgrade though IMO.
Let’s say that if I mostly do my work in school computer lab , and have a laptop powerful enough to run architectural software at home. Would you recommend a iPad Pro for an architecture student? For class notes, document schoolwork, sketching and professor comments?
If you can afford it, yeah it's a great device to have in your kit.
@@DavidTomic Ok, thank you for the advice and great video!
@@wanyizhang453 watch Samuel Suresh videos.
Is there an app that you can design cabinets and kitchens on the iPad? I’ve tried a few but can’t find a good one.
I know a few but all average, sorry.
Hi David,
Whats the next best option if not an apple ipad for Architectural and Interior conceptual sketch work?
Anything will do. It's all about how good you know how to use the software
One thought: Limiting software! not going to buy one just for that reason!

Is sketch up available on the ipad pro
Can you give an idea which one is better for architect or designer between ipad pro 2021 256gb or 512gb ?
Depends how you use the device and how many files/apps you wish to have. 256gb is great if you have a cloud solution
@@DavidTomic which one is better between wifi and wifi+cellular in your experience ?
Drinking the cool aid. Needs Sketchup pro support minimum.
I have the ipadair 4 should I get the mac mini to pair with it?
Can I ask you what app do you use to open large PDF files?
Either acrobat pro or morpholio trace
can you review the iPad air m1 thinking to gift my sister?
Ipad air doesn't come with an m1 chip...
oh sorry the A14 chip
How much storage would you guys recommend?
I got the base model, cloud storage is the way to go.
That makes sense, thank you!.
What screen protector would you recommend?
Personally don't use one but maybe the paperlike protectors?
The whole video? ? All your doing is selling the iPad.
Is there any real software that can be used on this toy to create architecture.
Check out my top 5 apps video.
Could I get an iPad if I was to have a desktop in my room ? So have both
Not sure I understand the question but you can do whatever you like 🤣
@@DavidTomic ye that didn’t make sense 🤣 i meant like would it be a good idea to have an iPad and a desktop. I’m going to be a uni student

Hello
How about iopad pro m1 for rendering?

Ipad pro m1, don't know many app that you can render with on it.
@@DavidTomic Wowwww. Thanks

The only time I markup a pdf is on my ipad via morpholio trace. I do not require bluebeam I find it an overkill. Acrobat reader is perfect for me.
Why apple do not put mac os on ipad 😑 i like ipad be like ms surface
Why are a lot of architects are handsome
