If I could give this tutorial a million thumbs up I would!!! I love how you took the time to make a detailed color chart and gave very detailed written descriptions. I also love that you use prismacolor pencils and not overly priced polychromos or luminance pencils! I LOVE this tutorial bunches!!!
wow thanks for doing this.. It's so detailed and one of the most helpful skin tutorials I have ever seen. This is such a beautiful piece it doesn't even look like color pencil it looks like a actual photograph. Keep up the good work you are a true inspiration. This makes me want to keep going into I get to where I want to be with my art work.
Thank you so much for showing us everything we need to start drawing ourselves. It is very rare to find a video where they actually show the colors used along with detail and direction to draw. THANK YOU. It's artists like you that allow me to actually improve my work.
You kept your word and uploaded the video again! What a lovely Christmas present. Thank you, you're a star. Now I'm going to get out my notebook and watch it through a few times to learn every lesson I can from it. Ray Cheshire England
You are the only artist that truly inspires and teaches me to draw better I hope I can continue doing portraits so I can improve more though my family aren't a fan of me...
May you please make more drawing tutorials like this. You are amazing and I loved watching this. As an artist I love it. It is very helpful, your tips are brilliant Please upload more videos... (You are incredibly talented. I love this link a lot.)
Bruce Makhura Thank you for your lovely message, it gives me more motivation to work on it .. I will try to make more videos soon (i really enjoy making them, it's just a lot of work which makes it a slow process 🐢 or I am just very slow 🐢 )
This is great, I've just bought the Prismacolor skin pack and this will congee in really useful as I'm just starting out with colour pencils for portraits. I'm a graphite user usually but wanted to start using coloured pencils. Thank you so much for your help. You've gained another subscriber!
Amazing! It really jumps off the page, so vibrant and true to life! You said you use mostly Bristol paper, but I would like to know for this particular video if you’re using smooth or vellum. Thanks for making this great video :)
Have you tried doing a portrait with an underpainting? Like a verdaccio, imprimatura or grisaille technique? It isn't easy to do with medium like colored pencil, but it can be done.
really like the piece especially the hair, the skin however could be improved a lot. personally i use a mineral spirit to blend out the colours then u get the desired smooth texture. anyway great piece
The original drawing I freehand the image, for this tutorial I had to redo it so I traced the original drawing. I have some video's coming up on how to sketch an image with different techniques.
hey! i need help. im totaaly in love with your work and im planning to buy myself prismacolours. which set should i buy and have you used 72 or the 130 one :) i'd love you for answering :)
Hi, I used the 150 set for this one. But I'm not sure if the colors I used are also available in a smaller set... If you can buy a bigger set, you'll already be happy with the 72 set! But I've also showed in a previous video you can use the 12 set to create a portrait ( ruclips.net/video/KQrMDFFcX0Q/видео.html ) hope it helps!
Oooh you are absolutely right ! It’s been years since I made this video and it’s first time Someone noticed this 😂 I guess I focused the main palette on the skin 😄
@@LuisinaJuliete Would it be okay to add the same? This will be my first attempt ever but I'm waiting for some paper to arrive. Talking of paper could you tell me what type of paper did you use for your palette? It doesn't go well to use a piece of Bristol paper.
Ok. Thats also what i use. I had a tablet that i thought said extra smooth. But i cant find it anywhere. The Bristol i have now is just eating up my pencils so fast. Do you know where i can find something that wont do that as much?
@@sharonsaylors2912 Yes I use the Bristol extra smooth most of the time also. I tried a lot of different paper but the Prismacolor pencils eat up fast in general, no matter what paper you use.

That's really helpful when you display the colours you are using onscreen.
Also, I'm going to use that palette idea next time.

Love your videos. Very instructional. Do you free hand the beginning image, trace or use grid lines?
The original drawing I freehand the image, for this tutorial I had to redo it so I traced the original drawing. I have some video's coming up on how to sketch an image with different techniques.
That's soooooo much better than I can do, love it!

Very good , I am a brazilian fan !! 😀
Hello i hope you can notice my comment.. Whats the name of that standy that you're using when recording a video?
Rhyan pencilarts it's called a tripod :)
are you burnishing the paper as you color to get them so pigmented or are you using something to blend them in between colors? so great!!
Thank you! I just use the pencils, it is easy to blend different colors. no other material or techniques used.
I love to watch your art videos for the art instruction but the sound of your voice, is so cool that I could listen to you talk all day. long...

You bamboozled me completely. You gave us your color palette then you start the tutorial with "eyes, nose" of which wasn't on your list of colors.
