    If I could give this tutorial a million thumbs up I would!!! I love how you took the time to make a detailed color chart and gave very detailed written descriptions. I also love that you use prismacolor pencils and not overly priced polychromos or luminance pencils! I LOVE this tutorial bunches!!!

    wow thanks for doing this.. It's so detailed and one of the most helpful skin tutorials I have ever seen. This is such a beautiful piece it doesn't even look like color pencil it looks like a actual photograph. Keep up the good work you are a true inspiration. This makes me want to keep going into I get to where I want to be with my art work.

    Thank you so much for showing us everything we need to start drawing ourselves. It is very rare to find a video where they actually show the colors used along with detail and direction to draw. THANK YOU. It's artists like you that allow me to actually improve my work.

    That's really helpful when you display the colours you are using onscreen.

    This is great, I've just bought the Prismacolor skin pack and this will congee in really useful as I'm just starting out with colour pencils for portraits. I'm a graphite user usually but wanted to start using coloured pencils. Thank you so much for your help. You've gained another subscriber!

    Have you tried doing a portrait with an underpainting? Like a verdaccio, imprimatura or grisaille technique? It isn't easy to do with medium like colored pencil, but it can be done.

    really like the piece especially the hair, the skin however could be improved a lot. personally i use a mineral spirit to blend out the colours then u get the desired smooth texture. anyway great piece

    hoi, k hoor aan je accent dat je uit nederland komt dus dat is mooi. Ik wil heel graag wat vragen. Ik teken alleen maar portretten en wil heel graag beginnnen met kleur. maar ik weet niet wat ik moet kopen. er bestaat wel een portrait set maar om mee te beginnen is die best duur. wat denk jij?

    Love your videos. Very instructional. Do you free hand the beginning image, trace or use grid lines?

      The original drawing I freehand the image, for this tutorial I had to redo it so I traced the original drawing. I have some video's coming up on how to sketch an image with different techniques.

    are you burnishing the paper as you color to get them so pigmented or are you using something to blend them in between colors? so great!!

      Thank you! I just use the pencils, it is easy to blend different colors. no other material or techniques used.

    hey! i need help. im totaaly in love with your work and im planning to buy myself prismacolours. which set should i buy and have you used 72 or the 130 one :) i'd love you for answering :)

      Hi, I used the 150 set for this one. But I'm not sure if the colors I used are also available in a smaller set... If you can buy a bigger set, you'll already be happy with the 72 set! But I've also showed in a previous video you can use the 12 set to create a portrait ( ruclips.net/video/KQrMDFFcX0Q/видео.html ) hope it helps!

    Skin tone is so hard to match. i just brought some Faber Castlle color pencils and Copic markers for skin tone

    You bamboozled me completely. You gave us your color palette then you start the tutorial with "eyes, nose" of which wasn't on your list of colors.

      Ok. Thats also what i use. I had a tablet that i thought said extra smooth. But i cant find it anywhere. The Bristol i have now is just eating up my pencils so fast. Do you know where i can find something that wont do that as much?

      @@sharonsaylors2912 Yes I use the Bristol extra smooth most of the time also. I tried a lot of different paper but the Prismacolor pencils eat up fast in general, no matter what paper you use.
