    Finally someone who understands most people can't buy the big set of prismacolor pencils in the click of a finger and actually has the sense to show us you can do amazing things for a smaller price and a smaller amount of pencils

      +Jack Edgar What I suggest to you, and anyone else who is unable to afford a large set of prismacolors (I was in that boat until I got a job and was given birthday money and such and was able to gather up money) is get a 60 set of Crayola, as well as a 12 set of prismacolors. :) Or just the ones you'd need like light peach and black and white and a colourless blender. I used just crayola and the colours i listed for the longest time, and I did portraits that I did sell. Prismacolor are just super easy to blend, but it is manageable with crayola and a colourless blender :)

      blick's has super cheap prismacolor sets. I got 48 for $20

      Shortninja66 but was that the scholar set? There's different types.

    • @Shortninja66
      @Shortninja66 8 лет назад

      Tiffany Lane Not sure exactly what the Scholar set is, is it just verithin colored pencils? I ordered the $20 48 set on Blick's and received the 48 pack in a tin box with a Strathmore sketchbook for free. These are definitely soft core.

      Shortninja66 Ah, I looked it up, it must be a currency difference. I'm in Canada, our prices aren't the same. But that's also the 48 pack. I got the 132 pack and it cost me over $100.

    We see all these top artists like Heather Rooney, Marcelo Berenghi and so on who like you have a gift from God for what you do, but not many do a thorough tutorial like this! Thank you so much for your hard work and I also like the fact that you added subtitles for the deaf people watching.. (I guess it is for them as you speak perfect English)....nice touch! I'm sure I speak for all your mortal fans when I beg you to do more videos like this. Just found you and subrcribed ☺

      This is amazing! You're super talented! I'm also living in Leiden, but couldn't find prismacolor pencils here. My colleague just brought me the portrait set with 24 colors from US. But it is super difficult to start making colored portrait, don't even know how to start……

    • @LuisinaJuliete
      @LuisinaJuliete  9 лет назад +2

      Thank you! Hope this video helps you, all the colors I used in this video is in your 24 set. I order the prismacolors online by the way because it's not in stores here in NL..

    • @XuemingLin
      @XuemingLin 9 лет назад

      Actually, not every color is in my 24 set, such as black, green... And I think I have no sense of colors. I don't know how to mix colors to create a new one. How did you do that? Did you just try it out? This is really difficult compared to graphite pencil drawing.

    • @LuisinaJuliete
      @LuisinaJuliete  9 лет назад +1

      Xueming Lin They should be in the 24 set.. I checked on the prismacolor website: www.prismacolor.com/products/colored-pencils/softcore-lead. The 12 set makes the basic, that is in every bigger set after that. Just check the video, I explained everything on how to mix colors and find a match with the reference picture. You just have to try it out and keep practising

    This is such a fantastic video! I learned so much from your video because you go step by step. What I love most about your video is that you include the colors you used to achieve the colors used in the drawing. Majority of artist don't do that which leaves newbies like me bewildered and confused lol. Hope to learn more from your videos.

They don't communicate what is actually being done by the artist. please reconsider this new tutorial style for all your future tutorials so that we can really learn from you. A million thank-yous for taking the time to teach this tutorial. It is so worth it for us. All your hard work is really worth it. Amazing! I just started drawing Portland was using watercolour to colour them after I spent hours sketching. As a result I felt I lost some detail and could not get the realistic look I wanted. I really like your way of telling what you are doing at the same time you do it. The way you name the colors while you use them both on your palette and on your drawing. I also love your voice. I could listen to you all day. Who knows? I might do just that. You have more vids to watch and to listen to. Thank you. Oh...You are a very pretty lady too. Fantasic eyes!

    Amazing video, your so talented, I have difficulty with skin tones, so your video was mega helpful,recently bought the 120 set of Faber Castell, but after watching your video, I have just bought the 12 set of prismacolour soft , so I can attempt to follow you and learn from you, thank you for taking time out to help learners like myself hopefully improve.
    Once again a massive thank you Luisina .

    Excellent - one of the best skin tone tutorials I've seen!
    (I never use a colorless blender pencil - I always use white, as you show... it's even good for blending dark colors, believe it or not...)
    Thank you!

    Echt super gedaan!

    I can't say thank you enough for sharing this! I watched it as I was drawing a portrait, and have to say__I like how your techniques enhanced my project. I wish I would have known how to get the background to look so smooth and vibrant, because mine didn't turn out good at all, and now I'm considering either starting over or cutting out my portrait and adhering it to a new piece of paper.
    Thank you for your guidance and keep up the great work!!
    Sincerely,
    Patty Oliva
