LENG Jun, one of the top oil painting artists in China. Thank the poster and internet that make it possible for us to watch a master like him to paint. It's amazing to finish such a beautiful portrait painting within time as short as one hour.
As a portrait artist for many years, I can say this is one of the most exquisite oil portraits I have ever seen in my life. The balance achieved by capturing realism while still maintaining brush work is masterful. Trust me, this is much harder than any ordinary hyperrealism.
I agree with you on that, hyperrealism or photorealism, while great skill but in my view is more like painting by numbers, as in 99% it's a copy of the photograph transferred on surface in one way or the other then copy of the colours from photograph to the painting as close as possible, a great skill, a lot of effort but usually still a copy rather than a vision of the artist
Oh, c'mon. He is very good . As a portrait painter , what is more important , technique or likeness. In his painting I see this girl in ten years from now. Technique is very good and I'm sure given more time ....but the best you have ever seen?
Yes, I didn't want to say because I probably couldn't do any better but, where is the luminescence? Her skin looks rough. Like it's dropped... Too much sag under the eyes, makes her look like a jaded knocking shop seller. Either way, although he's good, he didn't quite capture her youth or beauty. (I was digital artist, but i just directly notice it from the begining) And also that applied to lightning, if you notice.. there is a different visual in lightning strength and ambient, between camera and what the artist seen. so the artist look the light more softer that camera, thats why he make the `shrink` above the eye (and that make people think looks old), because those shrink above the eye were visible in artist eye. All of that just because artist paint it in different angle, and that effected into lights strengts in visual. Thats all. And everything from the technique he`s demonstrate is stuning !!
Also, I don't know anything about oil paints, so correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks thick. You can see most every brush stroke he makes, so there are lines across her face that make her appear older than she is from the brushes. It doesn't seem to be about his technique. I think it's just the medium he's using.

I think she went into 'suspended animation'. She didn't move or blink. It amazed me how he did it without doing a sketch first to get the proportions. Just 'slapped' on the paint and brought her to life on the canvas. Amazing.
I have made hundreds of pencil sketches on portraits first and just had the paint smear it all up LOL. I don't like graphite in my paint so I just block it all in like he did with sepia tones. I do admire his artistic skills. I would love to see him in a workshop.

In my community I was lucky to have and art league that held life drawing sessions. Also the local community colleges had non credit life studies classes and a university had drawing sessions open to the public. Taking some life study classes is the best rout. Nothing beats studio time with other artists and real models.
Anybody saying anything negative about this painting doesn't understand that this man has so much talent coming out of his ears that he can't hear you...
Amazing talent...he started with rough strokes and turned the white board into a real human! Not many can do portraits with such reality...And the model could sit an hour without moving at all...Most artists would paint from a photo, this model is really stiff like a photo...
I think the painting is more realistic (alive), than the photo, there seems to be more movement in the painting, wonderful, magical work 🙏🏽🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🎶🎶🎶🎶❤️🎶🎶🎶🎶 the painting is also softer 😊
@@SilverTG i am being sarcastic. The painting is beautiful by all means. However with oil paintings it can be hard to replicate real world visual colors and contrasts. Also, the footage may make the model seem brighter in footage than in real life. Hence I am joking about the makeup.
He's in the zone! The journey The time when you simply paint in harmony what your eyes see getting so involved in the enjoyment and focus what your doing losing all sense of surroundings and time. Just you and the subject. Beautiful work. Its far beyond the point that only he can see what is imperfect to him. Its perfect to everyone else. I bet he feels its never quite finished and has to stop himself in the end and let it go.
Cuántos años o décadas de experiencia debe tener para poder hacer un retrato, con ese nivel de detalle, con pintura de óleo, y en solo una hora con 20 minutos!? Es impresionante
I love this so much and watching other artists and their techniques.. there is always the ugly phase of every painting but if you just keep going then you have something beautiful🌹
Congratulations to the artist, he has done an excellent job. All criticize the portrait girl looks older. But the artist has the girl less than two meters away, he can easily see her "imperfections" There is a special make-up so you dont notice it in camera lens, but it does not work the same with the human eye. I dunno if it is the case of the girl, but in Asia they have the most innovative makeup. Dont underestimate the artist's work, fools.
The eyes, yes I feel perhaps he missed out on her tight skin around her youthful eyes...the model looks to be a teenager but he captured her in her 30's... having said that this is such an outstanding painting done in an hour in front of a crowd of video recorders. My work would look like Marg Simpson in comparison... well done Maestro!!!!!

You know it's an outstanding and talented artist when they can make something extremely difficult look as if it were as easy as blinking 👏
first it was 144p then 240p then 360p ......... finally he made it 4k
And I watch it at 2x the speed.
Faltou chegar no 720 p , mas ficou bom
If you google his paintings you'll see he can make it 16k
😂
Sentuhan2 jemari tangan Leng Jun.... Menakjub kan..... Pelukis kaliber dunia..... nyaris sama dgn Aslie nya....
شگفت انگیز❤😍😍
The way he hold the brush it’s so unstable yet the result is so perfectly detailed
That depends...the more experience you gain, then you realise at which position of the brush you are most comfortable with......
He need to touch the canvas lightly. To much power and it become different.
Я думала, в наше время таких мастеров-художников уже нет! ПОТРЯСАЮЩЕ!
Точная копия
Yes, not commonly seen nowadays .
simplesmente incrível!!!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
소름끼치게 더 사실 같이...마치 카메라로 찍은듯 너무 정교하게 잘 그리신듯 하네요!
아름답습니다!
I think she went into 'suspended animation'. She didn't move or blink. It amazed me how he did it without doing a sketch first to get the proportions. Just 'slapped' on the paint and brought her to life on the canvas. Amazing.
He do adjustment on the spot,
Hypnosis perhaps.
He is brilliant, he made the hole patterns first, but not too detail, and then finished by detailing all part.
So beautifully painted! Amazing skill
Kudos to the girl model! She was not moving in this entire video. What an amazing talent.
Maybe it is just a picture, she doesn't even blink
15:50 to 15:51 - you cut out the part that would have actually be helpful: painting the eyes.
Thats a secret technique

Uh
Love how he was able to age her by 20 years in his painting. Amazing!
Это потрясающе! Такой тонкий разбор в тоне, фантастика!
If this can be uploaded again with just the raw sound and no music = ASMR heaven.
He is amazing! How could he paint her without pencil sketch! I respect him! 👍😍
I have made hundreds of pencil sketches on portraits first and just had the paint smear it all up LOL. I don't like graphite in my paint so I just block it all in like he did with sepia tones. I do admire his artistic skills. I would love to see him in a workshop.
@@napalmparty yes, that's true! So you're an artist too.🎨 😍 That's awesome! I've always been eager to draw a good picture. I'm a retired graphic designer. 😁
Thank you for your reply. 💕
In my community I was lucky to have and art league that held life drawing sessions. Also the local community colleges had non credit life studies classes and a university had drawing sessions open to the public. Taking some life study classes is the best rout. Nothing beats studio time with other artists and real models.
I'm impressed if I could look at something and paint it an amazing artist he is
Did not expect it to turn out so nice when I saw the brown scribbles in the beginning true artist ! ❤️🤩
Bahut sundar very nice sir
와 기가 막히게 좋은 솜씨다. 나도 저런 재능을 가지고 싶다.
Anybody saying anything negative about this painting doesn't understand that this man has so much talent coming out of his ears that he can't hear you...
Did you go to the gym today ?
Amazing talent...he started with rough strokes and turned the white board into a real human! Not many can do portraits with such reality...And the model could sit an hour without moving at all...Most artists would paint from a photo, this model is really stiff like a photo...
because it is a photo
I think the painting is more realistic (alive), than the photo, there seems to be more movement in the painting, wonderful, magical work 🙏🏽🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🎶🎶🎶🎶❤️🎶🎶🎶🎶 the painting is also softer 😊
Oh awesome painting!!.😮
painted the girl without her makeup, what a legend
hahahahaha
HalalaChout Oof 😂😂😂😂😍
Dam that hard bro😂😂😂
@@SilverTG i am being sarcastic. The painting is beautiful by all means. However with oil paintings it can be hard to replicate real world visual colors and contrasts. Also, the footage may make the model seem brighter in footage than in real life. Hence I am joking about the makeup.
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂😂😂🤣😂🤣😂😂🤣😂🤣🤣🤣🤣😂
He's in the zone!
The journey
The time when you simply paint in harmony what your eyes see getting so involved in the enjoyment and focus what your doing losing all sense of surroundings and time.
Just you and the subject.
Beautiful work.
Its far beyond the point that only he can see what is imperfect to him. Its perfect to everyone else.
I bet he feels its never quite finished and has to stop himself in the end and let it go.
omg and the fact that this is leng jun the most realistic portrait artist
Wow, excellent 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I don't have words to appreciate your superb work 👌🏻👌🏻
💕💕💕💕
She blinked when you did.
🤣
no wonder
Lol
Hahahahahhahahahahahaha
I winked to test to see if she really was blinking when I did
Hrp2 dpt hasilkan lukisan mcmni dlm waktu terdekat, InsyaaAllah.. You're my inspiration
Cuántos años o décadas de experiencia debe tener para poder hacer un retrato, con ese nivel de detalle, con pintura de óleo, y en solo una hora con 20 minutos!? Es impresionante
This is pure Velásquez, what a talent! 👏🏾👏🏾
Como é que pode, um talento incrível. Excelente! Parabéns.

Show
Who else can't work when someone is watching them, like I literally forget how to do the thing I've been doing for years😂😂😂
Same😭
Same
me, and i’m an art major. i cant do anything if the teacher comes to stand behind me⚰️
And me too! Hahaha
Principally when they are supporting me ;-;
Soo relatable
I love this so much and watching other artists and their techniques.. there is always the ugly phase of every painting but if you just keep going then you have something beautiful🌹
You colored my mind and how you play the piano with your toes while painting 🎨 is sublime. 💥🙏
Congratulations to the artist, he has done an excellent job.
All criticize the portrait girl looks older. But the artist has the girl less than two meters away, he can easily see her "imperfections"
There is a special make-up so you dont notice it in camera lens, but it does not work the same with the human eye.
I dunno if it is the case of the girl, but in Asia they have the most innovative makeup.
Dont underestimate the artist's work, fools.
momo niikura bravo
momo niikura
And he did this in 1 hour, so it’s pretty good when you consider the time he did this in
don't mimd me I'm just a fool passing by
Isn't it a picture since you never see the model in front of him and she never even blinks once....what artists can't be imperfect?
For an hour this is amazing,it takes me like 4 hours and more to complete a realistic face and im still nowhere near his skills.
Good morning family. Woooooow, Woooooow and Woooooow. What a TALENT 😊1,000 % LOVEEEEEEEEEEE IT ❤️🙏
UNBELIEVEBLE... SUPER 👍👍👍❤❤❤.... LUAR BIASA ...SUNGGUH LUKISAN YG SANGAT HIDUP 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Legend has it that she’s still sitting still without blinking 😂
Edit: thank you so much for the likes! ❤️
@Sitarlife Surely you know that he's just joking 😕
He drew a photo, not a real life person 😑

Edit: I know right?
@@sarisgamer4451 Surely you people know that he's just joking right?
@@noimsquidward7327 u dont know if hes joking then...
I cant believe they edited away the beguining of the painting of the eyes, which is the most important feature in a painting! 😕
What about nose..?
It also important.
AND they completely cut off the painting of the mouth
Para los rockeros es como asistir a un gran concierto, y no todos podemos llegar a estos eventos, gracias maestro por este regalo
Ele é um excelente pintor. Adoro

So beautifully painted! Amazing skill and equally beautiful subject to recreate on canvas! Beautiful post thank you for posting this video😁
Beautifully. Maravilloso.
