    Pro tip for cleaning in general: Glove up before tackling your cleaning! You can usually grab a box of nitrile gloves from a local store or Amazon for around 10 bucks. Saves you from having to scrape gunk from your fingernails later. Plus you get the added benefit of feeling like your're performing grill surgery :D

      Truth! Here's some more truth though... I'm too lazy for gloves haha

      Nitrile gloves have shot up in price in the COVID era! I use Venom Steel and they run $30-$40 per hundred, now!

    Hey Grill,
    I can finally leave you a tip. Nitrile gloves! They are good for cleaning the grill and if you get cotton liners they make good warm food mitts.

    Most of the other videos I've watched suggested not using metal on the grill at all. They all suggested using a plastic putty knife. I was surprised that in this video they use a metal one at all. just thinking...

    Awesome it’s nice to see a woman in the smoking scene enjoying your recipes and enjoying your tutorial on cleaning the smoker. thank you so much. Appreciate fact you’re fellow camp chef’er. My DLX 24 flash pan, does not have vents where smoke “filters through” it’s just flat. So I do foil that flat section with heavy duty wide foil which works perfectly. Thanks again.

    I clean this way after every smoke. Not the inside walls. It's a treager 3400. A year old and use it almost every weekend. Looks almost new. It's easy if you keep up with it. 😁

    I've never had grease fall through the vents. But it also doesn't make it to the grease bucket... seems to just cake on the pan.

    Awesome video! Just what I needed, easy to find tools to get the job done. Just went to home depot to buy everything. Came home cleaned the grill in about half an hour. I really liked the fact that I didn't have to buy chemicals to use on the inside so I could use my smoker right after cleaning!

      Sean or Susie, does smoke escape your Camp Chef at the seam where the lid meets the bottom barrel? There's a gap along most of my grill lid where it meets the bottom and idk if it's intentionally manufactured that way or a flaw, but it causes a lot of smoke loss.

    Great vid, I've got the same smoker and was looking for a video on a deeper clean. Could you use oven cleaner inside to get it perfectly clean?

    • @Heygrillhey
      @Heygrillhey  3 года назад

      I wouldn't use anything as harsh as oven cleaner. A decent degreaser will work fine.

  • @LukeRT
    @LukeRT 5 лет назад

    :p I use the dishwasher for my smoker racks as well, does the trick.
    Also speaking of tin foil, if you lay some flat sheets of foil over the grates then crank the cookers heat. It gets the grates super hot and makes it really easy to scrub or brush. Just be careful bc they get extremely hot.

    • @austinw8097

      Camp Chef’s booklet says after 200 hours you should remove the chimney and clean it. This is for the Woodwind 24, other models will likely be the same.

      @@austinw8097 Thank you for your reply. Since your CC is the same, I guess I won't seal the gap like I was considering, but lots of smoke rolls out from there during the smoke cycles.

    I have an electric smoker. I always clean the grills, drip pan, and basin, but what about the sides? Should I leave them alone or try to degrease them and clean them? I'm thinking they're flavor, but maybe not. What is your advice?
