Sal Cruz Bro quit hating. Nobody in the 80s or 90s could even come close to Steph’s shooting ability and nobody could guard the 3 like they do now. Not just that but Curry is an excellent passer. Yes he would get beat up but he would still be an elite player
You make a good argument. Steph did take the game to another plane. I agree that Jordan should be number one and probably always will be, but I've got no problem with you having Steph at number 2.
hater that's b/c its Lebron, nobody across the world saying Iverson unless its Post Malone song. everyone on earth knows who Lebron is, buys his shoes, say they the king chase down blocks, say lebron james when they dunk
Xanninja wow, if I think Allen Iverson had a giant influence on the culture that makes me a LeBron hater? Does that mean your an Iverson hater? Anyway, LeBron is a great player, but when it comes to influence, AI broke the fashion mold, the hair styles, the tattoos, and wide cross overs. So he's that guy for me
Curry was one of the reasons why the traditional bigs like Aldridge, Howard, etc. became redundant because if your a traditional big your useless in the league your slow and can’t defend the tree and since people see the value of shooting threes instead of twos the post has been used less and less. Curry in my opinion is one of the reasons why people like Jokic and Karl Anthony towns are becoming the new big men because they can hit threes and they still have some post moves.
1. Michael Jordan 2. Kobe Bryant / Stephen Curry 3. Kobe Bryant / Stephen Curry 4. LeBron James 5. Allen Iverson 6. Magic Johnson 7. Shaq O'Neal 8. Dirk Nowtziki 9. Bill Russell 10. Russell Westbrook
Agreed! By the way, and for the record, there's no such thing as 5-star restaurants. At least in the Michelin Guide, which would be the ultimate reference worldwide for rating restaurants. It's 3 stars/macarons max, and it's the highest distinction a chef could get (even though, technically, the restaurant owns the stars, not the chef).
Thank you--this is absolute true. Curry's range, shooting ability, and constant movement (off the ball) have altered not just how many threes are taken per game these days but also how defenses play. Steph is not only one of the greatest of all time, he has also single-handedly changed the way the game is played and coached. People just don't get what he has done and is doing to the game.
Cali760 warriors play very slow without curry Durant is all time but that warriors flow is created by curry . Best shooter ever decent defender great handle great finish at the rim . And makes his teammates better and very little ego . I never thought I'd see better than John Stockton but curry is close
He influenced me to get good at basketball and I became a fan of basketball after watching him play. I used to think basketball was boring but when i watched him play it was amazing. 3 pointers is why I love basketball sm, to get the perfect shot off from deep and listening to the splash of the net😍🤤 it's the best feeling especially for a small guy like me
sds606 what is influential about shooting from 30 feet when you are the only one doing it. The play ground three pointer is 20 feet, college at 21 ft, NBA at 24.
AsylumSaint you don’t know what you’re talking he changed the game for big men lol the stretch four is because of him. Big men shoot now because of dirks game
1. MJ- bcos he made basketball the most popular sports in the universe 2. SC- bcos of what collin explained 3. LJ- bcos he made” teaming up with prime stars/stars leaving teams in their prime” a non issue.
6 years ago: "you cant win a championship by shooting 3's" The league after steph getting 2 MVP's and 2 championships: "If your team cant shoot 3's you're worthless"
JaySw34 because you are a Stan, the graph says otherwise. NBA three pointer attempts have risen ever year since 1979, from 2.5 to 22 attempts for each team.
MJ, Steph, AI, KOBE, now can some one tell me how LeBron influence the game this is not a knock on LeBron but all the guys I just named I can tell u how they influenced the game..I'm still just trying to think what his influence was
1. Jordan-he influenced many players such as lebron, kobe, ai and became great looking up to him. He even has his own brand of shoe and logo of him dunking 2. Curry-he revolutionized the game due to his 3 point shooting. Everyone works on their shooting because of curry, everyone wants to shoot way beyond the 3 point line because of him. 3. Iverson- he influenced many players that dribbling is essential to the game, crossovers, flashy handles everything he has done influenced many 4. Kobe-He influenced everyone to be great, have that mamba mentality and play the game 100%
He was def spitting facts here. And he even brought up iverson which is the same thing i was thinking lol. No lies detected here. He slick came for Oscar Robertson but he kinda had to be real about it lmao.
What do you guys think of the NBA adding an award named the Stephen Curry Trophy which is given to the player with the most 3 pointers during the regular season?
Colin. In videos like this, you really get it. In other videos where you rank a bunch of the stars today above Curry, I wonder about you. Make up your mind. Is Curry an all-time, generational talent or not? If he is, stop downplaying how good he is RIGHT NOW. Stop talking about nonsense such as "KD is better than Curry but Curry is more important". It's absolute nonsense. KD can't sniff Curry in value, and that's that.
Top 5 NBA Players who actually changed the game 1. Micheal Jordan - Jumpshot 2. Stephen Curry - Three-point 3. Allen Iverson - Crossover 4. Bill Russell - Blocks 5. Magic Johnson and Larry Bird - Passing
I been telling folks Steph Curry will completely change the NBA. I'm glad you said this! Back me Colin! Lol. I totally agree on everything you say about Curry. I have many players I like but I can't dispute the facts on this guy Steph.
Steph Curry revived my interest in basketball. I rarely miss a Warriors game and subscribe to the NBA League Pass because of Steph Curry, Colin you are correct.
Dirk and AI should be on this list, I started playing because AI gave me confidence being a smaller guard dominating the NBA - Dirk made possible that Stretch Big that we see in video games and in the NBA nowadays. Completely agree with Colin in his list. Until the All Star break of 2014/15 I believe teams WERENT shooting as many threes, or playing small, after that- they were ALL adjusting because GSW was being unstoppable with Curry at the head. So yeah, he is TOP5 most influential players of all time for SURE.
dislusional huh? i would agree with you if he didnt have like twice as many attempts and makes per season as anybody else in nba history. and if he was just a clone of someone else. like kobe to mj. see how i put out facts to back up my statement not just throw my opinion on the internet like im god.
The art of competition so, he shoots and makes more than anyone else. That is an individual achievement. The only thing that shooting from 35 feet away from the basket is going to influence is other players getting benched because they won't make them from that distance. Colin got people believing that Steph Curry is small, slow, and weak. That is far from the truth, the guy is 6-3 and dead lifts 400lbs. I took a look at the graph which showed a gradual increase in 3 point attempts from 1979 to 2018, there is a slight spike during the Larry Bird years but from there there is just a gradual increase.
just because you dont like YOUR perceived result of his influence. doesnt mean he doesnt have a big influence. any star obviously has a big influence. so to say im delusional to say a star player has a big influence hurts your credibility and your argument. so i cant really talk hoops with you if your going to go to such extreme ridiculous opinions.
The art of competition I like the guy, he is a great shooter, but, he is an anomaly. I also think that the ESPN and FOX has an agenda. I remember when Colin said that Kevin Durant is going to be a bust because he could not bench press 185. He also said that Steph Curry is making 7 footers obsolete but 5 out of the ten guys picked in the draft were at least 6-10. The guy is entertaining but his research is incompetent.
the only sport I like less than basketball is soccer, but watching the warriors hit 3 pointers seems almost like a magic trick, like some kind of slight of hand that doesn't seem like it should be possible. it's so much more impressive than a 300lb 7 footer dunking the ball into a basket he can reach flat footed.
1) Michael Jordan 2) Magic Johnson 3) Steph Curry (he will be number 1 or 2 when his career is done) 4) Allen Iverson (Braids, tatts, hip-hop influence...) 5) LeBron James (He is a hybrid between Magic Johnson and Scottie Pippen) 6) Kareem 7) Shaq 8) Charles Barkley (PF that can run the floor, also undersized PF's) 9) Hakeem Olajuwon (if you dont know him RUclips him lol) 10) Denis Rodman (He took the huslte and grunt work players and made it glamours, reason why 6' 7'' guys that hustles and play defense can have long careers in the NBA)
Steph Curry is the 2nd best player behind lebron. Why? Because when measuring players it's all about IMPACT. Curry and Lebron are in a class of their own in terms of impact on a game. I get KD is more skilled than curry, but if we are purely talking skill, KD is top 5 all time. We measure players by impact not purely by skill and people need to get that. Also, the most important skill in basketball is shooting, curry is the greatest shooter ever, and if you're the best ever at the most important skill, you're not just an all timer, but one of the elite all timers.
Anyone that says Kobe influenced the NBA is lying to themselves, Kobe stole all of MJ’s moves and was basically MJ 2.0. He didn’t “change” the game by any means even though he is one the 10 greatest players to ever play
Fahim Abrar lol you're implying that stealing other players moves is bad. and that copying MJ is something anyone can do. Kobe influenced so many players in the NBA. Heck I bet u more people know Kobe who don't even watch basketball. that's influential to me.
Jason Nguyen no he was a great player and many players picked him as their favorite because of his style of play but he didn’t “change” the nba by any stretch. Leagues don’t adjust to his style of play the way they do Steph
1) Michael Jordan 2) Shaquille O'Neal 3) Stephen Curry 4) Magic Johnson 5) Allen Iverson AND HERE'S WHY -- Michael is the goat. Not much needed to say.. Shaquille O'Neal was the reason everyone wanted the next 'once in a generation' center. Shaquille O'Neal is the reason big men were so sought after, Shaq is the reason GREG ODEN was drafted ahead of Kevin Durant. Curry is pulling a 'Shaq' here... but Shaq finished his career and Curry's effect is still young. Watch Curry skip Shaq if this trend goes another decade. *MAGIC* is next. Now, we would have LEBRON here because he's the most recent big guy with passing skills and ridiculous basketball IQ and awareness, but Magic Did it 1st. LeBron carried the legacy into today's game, we also have big bodies out here trying to control the offense the way Ben Simmons, Giannis, and many more have tried. LeBron's a big reason, but it all began with MAGIC. Next is A.I. look at everyone out here trying to look like him, carry that swagger like A.I. Basketball is evolving.
I was thinking of two things after posting, 1) Shaquille O'Neal wasnt the first, but he was the most dominant in a modern era. And did it his way, another influential man is Kobe Bryant. When your friend at the office shoots paper and says 'KOBE' it only shows how world wide Bryant has been.
Nailed it, Iverson most definitely needs to be in this list, would also put Ginobili over in the list. Eurostep became a "thing" because of him. May not have invented it, but it became popular because of him.
Does Steph Curry deserve more credit for his influence in the NBA?
Absolutely
100 percent. He made the 3pt shot the most valuable shot in the league. He also made teams change their entire offensive and defensive systems. Curry has done more to change the actual NBA and college more then Lebron.

Curry may even be more influential than MJ in terms of changing the face of the game.
He would have been good in any generation. He would have made any team so much better.
Thomas Vang foh
Nah. He Colin is way overeating his influence...the revolution was already happening.
He wouldn’t be this good in the 80s and 90s. Hand checking changes a lot of things
Thomas Vang disagree lmao " good in any generation " now u needed reevaluate ur life rn after saying that lmao not many people could play back in the day basketball and curry is definitely one of those who couldn't play
Sal Cruz Bro quit hating. Nobody in the 80s or 90s could even come close to Steph’s shooting ability and nobody could guard the 3 like they do now. Not just that but Curry is an excellent passer. Yes he would get beat up but he would still be an elite player
He is absolutely right for once.
You make a good argument. Steph did take the game to another plane. I agree that Jordan should be number one and probably always will be, but I've got no problem with you having Steph at number 2.
I'd put iverson over LeBron
hater that's b/c its Lebron, nobody across the world saying Iverson unless its Post Malone song. everyone on earth knows who Lebron is, buys his shoes, say they the king chase down blocks, say lebron james when they dunk
So he's that guy for me
Calvin Strothers right AI has to be on there, LeBron is a great player but I don't see the influence.
This give me chills.... His explanation is the realest thing ever spoken in sports. Amen
Big Facts
1. Michael Jordan
2. Kobe Bryant / Stephen Curry
3. Kobe Bryant / Stephen Curry
4. LeBron James
5. Allen Iverson
6. Magic Johnson
7. Shaq O'Neal
8. Dirk Nowtziki
9. Bill Russell
10. Russell Westbrook
2 and 3 are the same
Black Panther they're supposed to be interchangeable depending on preference
Kobe wasn't on the top 10 because his game was basically Jordan's.
I don't really see how Kobe & Westbrook are influential
Black Panther 2/3 are because I don't know how to put those 2 player at where , so put same thing sorry about that
Don't compare curry to McDonald's.
He's 5 star, 1 of a kind
Every restaurant wants to be 5 star... But can they?
But none influenced the industry of fast food like McDo
Sometimes Colin has some crazy statements, but this one is just straight facts
THANK YOU COLIN. I dont think he's right about the other players like Big O. But Steph deserves more credit. He is revolutionizing the game.
Steph change the game...give him his pro...
Dirk Nowitzki revolutionised the 4 position, the og stretch 4. Reason big men shoot nowadays.
Completely agree w Colin finally he got this right!
Thanks for speaking the truth Colin
Curry best player in league and nobody ever says it
Carl Kelly facts 💯
Carl Kelly facts
hey no i dont agree with you
Cali760 warriors have been to finals the sense 2015 and curry is the reason plus he is in the western conference which he way harder than the east
Cali760 warriors play very slow without curry Durant is all time but that warriors flow is created by curry . Best shooter ever decent defender great handle great finish at the rim . And makes his teammates better and very little ego . I never thought I'd see better than John Stockton but curry is close
LeBrons kids favorite player is Curry lmfao.
Completely agree
My boy Steph Curry is the truth 🏀🌊👌
He influenced me to get good at basketball and I became a fan of basketball after watching him play. I used to think basketball was boring but when i watched him play it was amazing. 3 pointers is why I love basketball sm, to get the perfect shot off from deep and listening to the splash of the net😍🤤 it's the best feeling especially for a small guy like me
They changed the RULES for Kareem!!!!!! They literally said you’re too dominant. Stop it!!!!!!
He’s right about this one, wtf did oscar Robertson do for the nba?
sds606 average a triple double without stat padding
l l
What’s influential about that
sds606 im saying he was influential, im just saying oscar robinson acomplished something that probably no one ever will
sds606 what is influential about shooting from 30 feet when you are the only one doing it. The play ground three pointer is 20 feet, college at 21 ft, NBA at 24.
Trey Jones quit hating everyone in the NBA Today has shot more 3's than in the past did u not hear Colin spittin facts
I'm not even american, but this is obviously correct: Nobody else have ever changed the game this much in such a short time.
Terje Mathisen Fact.
Terje Mathisen Shaq
Trey Jones Wilt
easily the 2nd most influential player since mike. changed the understanding game play.
No scalabrine ? Smh
Keep shaking
Dont stop shaking your head man! we're talking MOST INFLUENTIAL
Ram Aries Francisco and I'm still shaking my head
Who?? 😂
None of them have seen his 360 fadeaway 3 point dunk. How Disappointing!
I stopped watching basketball when Jordan and Robinson retired, it was Curry and Bryant that brought me back.
Dirk isn't on the list?! 7'0 shooting threes.
AsylumSaint you don’t know what you’re talking he changed the game for big men lol the stretch four is because of him. Big men shoot now because of dirks game
Also changed the perception of european players and paved the way for guys like Porzingis, Giannis, Jokic...
And let's not forget he popularized the One-Leg Fadaway
AsylumSaint What? KAT, Boogie Cousins, Joel Embiid, Porzingis, Markedden dont exist without Dirk.
He was listed as #20. Do think he should be higher tho.
1. MJ- bcos he made basketball the most popular sports in the universe
2. SC- bcos of what collin explained
3. LJ- bcos he made” teaming up with prime stars/stars leaving teams in their prime” a non issue.
Basketball was never the most popular sport
I agree with everything Colin said about Curry, but he said nobody wants to draft a center and the 1st pick in 2018 nba draft was... D Ayton 😂
The first time i agree with Colin Cowherd 👏
6 years ago: "you cant win a championship by shooting 3's"
The league after steph getting 2 MVP's and 2 championships:
"If your team cant shoot 3's you're worthless"
I agree with everything Colin just said
JaySw34 because you are a Stan, the graph says otherwise. NBA three pointer attempts have risen ever year since 1979, from 2.5 to 22 attempts for each team.
Trey Jones you lowkey love Steph
MJ, Steph, AI, KOBE, now can some one tell me how LeBron influence the game this is not a knock on LeBron but all the guys I just named I can tell u how they influenced the game..I'm still just trying to think what his influence was
1. Jordan-he influenced many players such as lebron, kobe, ai and became great looking up to him. He even has his own brand of shoe and logo of him dunking
2. Curry-he revolutionized the game due to his 3 point shooting. Everyone works on their shooting because of curry, everyone wants to shoot way beyond the 3 point line because of him.
3. Iverson- he influenced many players that dribbling is essential to the game, crossovers, flashy handles everything he has done influenced many
4. Kobe-He influenced everyone to be great, have that mamba mentality and play the game 100%
Please stop with putting Kobe on these lists! And LBJ for that matter...
Lbj revolutionized the game inFLOPPING category
He was def spitting facts here. And he even brought up iverson which is the same thing i was thinking lol. No lies detected here. He slick came for Oscar Robertson but he kinda had to be real about it lmao.
mcknight9127 It is easy to foolan audience when you tell stories and don't use any graphs, Curry is the effect and not the cause.
Trey Jones delete your account
Anthony Henage Just facts. Go and look at the graph.
Top 5 NBA Players who actually changed the game
1. Micheal Jordan - Jumpshot
2. Stephen Curry - Three-point
3. Allen Iverson - Crossover
4. Bill Russell - Blocks
5. Magic Johnson and Larry Bird - Passing
I think curry should be in second place
Rosa Fonseca he should AI should be third
I been telling folks Steph Curry will completely change the NBA. I'm glad you said this! Back me Colin! Lol. I totally agree on everything you say about Curry. I have many players I like but I can't dispute the facts on this guy Steph.
This has aged extremely well.
Colin is always a fan of Steph. and all his takes are spot on. :)
THANK YOU!!!! I'm not even a huge Curry fan, but he changed the game in college and pro!!!!
BIG CHACHI Yes Sir
wow on point
Finally, i have something to agree with you collin.
I totally agree 👌
Before he,s done he will be ahead of Jorden!
Shout out to the og anime Big O
TheUndefeatedOfTheEast lmao 😂I cant believe he said animated Japanese Show... caught me off guard
Top 3 influential basketball players of all time
MJ
SC
LJ
Steph Curry revived my interest in basketball. I rarely miss a Warriors game and subscribe to the NBA League Pass because of Steph Curry, Colin you are correct.
kobe........there is not one person who hasn't said "KOBE!!!" out loud when they threw something or shot a basket
Kobe is a MJ's copy
Dirk and AI should be on this list, I started playing because AI gave me confidence being a smaller guard dominating the NBA - Dirk made possible that Stretch Big that we see in video games and in the NBA nowadays. Completely agree with Colin in his list. Until the All Star break of 2014/15 I believe teams WERENT shooting as many threes, or playing small, after that- they were ALL adjusting because GSW was being unstoppable with Curry at the head. So yeah, he is TOP5 most influential players of all time for SURE.
steph curry should be number one. you may not see it now but in a few years you will see an army of shooters coming into the nba
The art of competition you are dislusional, Steph is the effect and not the cause.
dislusional huh? i would agree with you if he didnt have like twice as many attempts and makes per season as anybody else in nba history. and if he was just a clone of someone else. like kobe to mj. see how i put out facts to back up my statement not just throw my opinion on the internet like im god.
"Def Leppard"
I was awaiting for the A.I shoutout and was about to comment but he mentioned it just at the end
Changed the literal style of individual players
1) Michael Jordan
2) Magic Johnson
3) Steph Curry (he will be number 1 or 2 when his career is done)
4) Allen Iverson (Braids, tatts, hip-hop influence...)
5) LeBron James (He is a hybrid between Magic Johnson and Scottie Pippen)
6) Kareem
7) Shaq
8) Charles Barkley (PF that can run the floor, also undersized PF's)
9) Hakeem Olajuwon (if you dont know him RUclips him lol)
10) Denis Rodman (He took the huslte and grunt work players and made it glamours, reason why 6' 7'' guys that hustles and play defense can have long careers in the NBA)
I love MJ - he is the undisputed GOAT. But why is he #1 on this list? What influence did he have on the game that put him #1?
Zakiya Warren what influence MJ had? go ask Lebum he’ll let you know and Kobe too jeez
Quis Buffett Steph will never be 1 lol he could thank social media wasn’t around when MJ played as much as it is now.
That's a great list man.
Curry does deserve more credit. Even with kd doesn't stop him from shining Curry's always gonna be curry.
🤣lol Colin is wildin with the rockbands comparisons
Leagues don’t adjust to his style of play the way they do Steph
lol yet everyone likes saying KOBE everytime they shoot a shot or throw away trash
Kobe took his brand to China. Huge influence. His work ethic. Kobe literally changed the culture of Team USA basketball.
BDAPink kobe just carried the mj torch... he didnt change the gane but just remind us of the old ways
God has truly blessed Steph Curry with some amazing talent !!! Favorite player ever , my life wouldn’t be the same without Stephs influences
kobe and iverson have to be top 5. What a disgrace.
Kobe is the copy of MJ
I said the same thing! Thank you Colin.
1) Michael Jordan
2) Shaquille O'Neal
3) Stephen Curry
4) Magic Johnson
5) Allen Iverson
AND HERE'S WHY --
Michael is the goat.
Facts
Wait so you're saying that won't Chamberlain, Bill Russell, Hakeem Olajuwan and all those dominant centers before weren't as influential as Shaq?
I was thinking of two things after posting, 1) Shaquille O'Neal wasnt the first, but he was the most dominant in a modern era. And did it his way, another influential man is Kobe Bryant. When your friend at the office shoots paper and says 'KOBE' it only shows how world wide Bryant has been.
Where tf is Kobe
Nailed it, Iverson most definitely needs to be in this list, would also put Ginobili over in the list. Eurostep became a "thing" because of him. May not have invented it, but it became popular because of him.
Steph's influence on the game is a lot like a broken marriage.
Lots of people can shoot three’s. Not many can shoot threes anywhere with 2-3 people trying to guard them
Kobe's definitely number two cause when you shoot a paper ball into the trash you yell his name
Kobe is MJ's copy
Most objective I've ever seen Colin. Need more of this!
Yes.....and Steph can still shoot the mid range jumpers....
Rafael De La Nuez that's why he's the GOAT Shooter
