Deadmau5 said in an interview that he probably would've let them use it or even collabed with them if they would have asked first.
You handled it better than most would. I do think however it's a bit far to say they "took credit" or phrase it in such a way that makes it appear they intentionally tried to steal the beat. Gotta keep in mind most of their music is widely shared amongst the community for free to download with the exception of Bandcamp charging only $7 for the entire album; $1 for the song. Bandcamp is a melting pot of independent artists sampling, sharing and reusing components of all kinds, and very VERY rarely credit the OG artists and producers for better or worse. Just look at the massive Vaporwave community over there. But nice beat bro. Obviously it influenced the Boys as well as the fans so your doing something right man!
Thank you for not using this chance to completely bash the $B lol, many people would chase the clout and even take this to court, ima huge suicideboys fan and I totally respect you for being upset, fuck the $B fans who are bashing you, they aren't even real suicideboys fans
I apologize on behalf of the $uicideboy$ fans that didn’t even try to watch the video or read your pinned comment, as what you’re saying really does make a lot of sense.
Okay so to all you saying Curtis shouldn't complain because he sold the trackouts/stems, there are two major options for "selling beats": exclusive or lease. Lease means you don't have exclusive rights to record over the beat and therefore it can be used by other people. Exclusive is pretty self explanatory, you have exclusive rights to record over the beat. Notice the "record over the beat" and not the general term "use the beat". That's because when a producer is selling a beat he's selling the right for an artist to do a single vocal recording over a beat, not for an artist to alter the beat and call it his own. Mixing and mastering is one thing completely different from what was done here and can be done by a producer other than the beat maker. In that case the publisher would have to include Curtis in the songwriter section of the credits.
What case? Lame. U sold that shit. Its gone. How do u think most music is made. Little no bodys sell it and better artists buy it and use it and succeed off it. Doesnt degrade the talant of who created it originally. They should be proud of the influence there music has obtained. If i was this guy complaining about this BEAT, id be motivated to get more collabs with other like minded artist. Use it as a positive oppertunity. Not some way of getting some views on a Video. Thats lame
The last part you said is so true. I stole my vst's and they stole my beat. It is a cycle that tends to happen. Glad you going, legit bro. It's not easy but its so worth it.
Im a huge SB fan. I think theyre some of the best in the game rn. When i startred watching this video i had mixed feelings because i love suicide so much and i dont even know who you are. But after watching amd thinking, i side with you. This beat is mad sick. And i love what suicide boys did with it. However you made it, and they took your entire song basically and just edited parts and added lyrics with no creds to you. I make music, and i would be hella upset, not honored to have my shit jacked. Still love suicide boys, but respect to you and wish you the best of luck. Think back to the 60s and 70s. Some of the best artists at the time would take each others songs with the same exact melodies and chords and everything and change a little to their own style. jimi hendrix and stevie ray and eric clapton, they all used each others stuff. Music isnt about whats what and whos who. Its about a variety of consciousnesses coming and adding to a artform to expand and make it awesome. People still argue 50 years later who did little wing better, stevie ray or jimi hendrix. Keep up the good work G. Music is about expanding and growing. I understand the principle of what youre feeling. Id be hella upset too. Just got to look at from as many different perspectives as possible.
So every time someone steals your beats and you find out X amount of time later, you gonna chalk it up to "I stole my VSTs and DAW before, this just karma biting my ass, go legit."? Might as well let everyone steal your shit then
It’s good to see that you care more about your community than chasing “$20k”. That’s always a plus and shows your true intentions with this channel. To help us as rappers and producers and keep us education. Another good video and teaching moment. Keep up the good work!
This was in my recommended videos because I watch a lot of production tutorials. I have never seen one of your videos before, but after hearing your outlook and how you can let this roll off your back without sweating it further, I subscribed. That is the healthiest way you can look at something like this. Most people on YT are a younger crowd and they probably don't have the life experience you do. Don't even pay attention to them.
That sucks man. Could have been worse though. Great beat and great finished track. Glad you enjoyed it and didnt go the "metallica" route. Keep up the good vibes.
I’ve been listening to $b for 3y and to see this is actually disappointing, hopefully that’s the only song otherwise they’re going to get exposed or some shit just as their getting big.
Talk to Scrim, he will understand all this shit
Thank you for not using this chance to completely bash the $B lol, many people would chase the clout and even take this to court, ima huge suicideboys fan and I totally respect you for being upset, fuck the $B fans who are bashing you, they aren't even real suicideboys fans
I apologize on behalf of the $uicideboy$ fans that didn’t even try to watch the video or read your pinned comment, as what you’re saying really does make a lot of sense.
your actually a legend, ive had my music jacked before i know the feeling.
Adrian Gomez they paid for the sample?
Right
Definitely not worth it, they'd probably prolong the court case anyway
What case? Thats lame
Damn , nice beat but why didn’t he just say that you did it
Kryp Kush imvu good question, the song is actually very dope.
Curtiss King TV yeah I was like he’s made by he like the song but he still mad do
Cuz then he would have to pay out royalties, & they’re greedy as fuck. Greed + laziness = always a mind numbing pitiful combination.
Much respect Curtis. Wish people would just give credit where credit it due. Thanks for the video!
@@CurtissKingTV Respect! but say you were just starting out, would you have still carried it the same way?
I love suicide boys but I also understand how a person would be upset. Ima keep listening but I hope you grow bigger.
The last part you said is so true. I stole my vst's and they stole my beat. It is a cycle that tends to happen. Glad you going, legit bro. It's not easy but its so worth it.
damn there’s a lot of assholes in this comment section. please know that not all $uicideboy$ fans are as immature as the ones in this comment section
Damn. This business can be really messy sometimes. Love how mature you are about it I’m not sure I’m there year at all.
"I'm assuming they payed for the track outs "
Subbed this is one of my fav songs so If your beats sound like this I know ur hella good
Im a huge SB fan.
Aye you basically 3 years late hommie
Emanuel Gonzalez he really is
Curtiss King is the realest. Love the example you are setting for us all man!
You earned a new subscriber mate. Big ups to you for handling this like a man!❤️
So every time someone steals your beats and you find out X amount of time later, you gonna chalk it up to "I stole my VSTs and DAW before, this just karma biting my ass, go legit."? Might as well let everyone steal your shit then
mislam13 😂
It literally took this video being on my recommended for so long for me to actually watch it
lmao same
It’s good to see that you care more about your community than chasing “$20k”. That’s always a plus and shows your true intentions with this channel. To help us as rappers and producers and keep us education. Another good video and teaching moment. Keep up the good work!
Thats cool dude. Thats my one of my favorite $b songs lmao
It literally lists Curtiss King as a producer on the song in the genius bio
Yea, they changed it, hmmm its as If the original producer came out and made a video about his beat being used and labeled as a different producer.
Sounded like minecraft at the start lmao
That's what I thought too lol
This was in my recommended videos because I watch a lot of production tutorials. I have never seen one of your videos before, but after hearing your outlook and how you can let this roll off your back without sweating it further, I subscribed. That is the healthiest way you can look at something like this. Most people on YT are a younger crowd and they probably don't have the life experience you do. Don't even pay attention to them.
"i stole vst´s they stole my beat" love it
That sucks man.
The others disagree because its said scrim makes the beats from scratch in garage band etc so they refuse to, but sadly it’s this mans beat.
xoAstroh they stole antarctica too but idgaf, i fuck with them either way.
Chances are someone else took you're beat, put it somewhere, and they thought they found a dope unlicensed sample.
Yea that's probably how it happened no need for the beef
@@mvdrap it happened to me once and the situation was this. One guy posted it, then another guy took that and posted it, then another guy sampled that, then I found that song that sampled it and was mad for absolutely no reason.
@@cloudpuffer224 you'd be still be entitled to credit and money though
@@6FtBeats I know that. I was saying it probably wasnt stolen by the artists in the video. It was stolen by someone else who basically posted it as unlicensed.
@@cloudpuffer224 If you know the music industry like I do, there is 0% chance that the Suicide Boys, didn't know where the beat came from. But I understand what you mean, what you describe can happen for less known artist and beatmaker.
Damn that ending though, what a way to handle the situation. Respect for being the bigger man, you know we love what you’re doing for us:)
“i stole my vsts they stole my best this in a viscous cycle” best summary of anything i’ve hear
Im a big fan of $B and i hate how annoying some of their fans can be.
