I lived in Amherstburg Ontario when this happened and remember it very clearly. My sister kept a log of the ships that went by in front of our house opposite BobLo Island, so we knew the Morrell very well. It would have passed our house in the beginning of this story as it travelled from Lake Erie to Windsor. The disaster was in all the papers and I remember the photos of Mr. Hale in his hospital bed in the Detroit Free Press. It was the first time I’d ever heard of Survivors Guilt, and Mr. Hale suffered from it for many years afterwards. The Edmund Fitzgerald went past our door as well. Quite a few guys from Amherstburg worked the freighters, and we followed the news and always worried when November came around. We always felt the shipping companies ran the lakes too late in the season. Dangerous.
What a sight that would have been seeing these ships sail past your house. I’ve seen the photos of the ships online but seeing them in person must have been special. It’s unfortunate that these ships sank and probably never expected. But the news of the disasters must have been hard hitting
I was aboard one of the Coast Guard vessels involved in the search for the Morrell. We had been removing crew members from the stranded “MV NORDMEER” in Thunder Bay when we were ordered to search.
This is like a mix in of The Perfect Storm and In The Heart Of The Sea. Also you know that The Lusitania was hite by Rouge wave on a voyage it took from London to New York before it sank in 1915 maybe you can make a video about that.
This was a very good telling of what happned that terrible night. Dan Hall actually made a pretty good song about Dennis. I also watched your Lusitania video earlier. Have you maybe concidered making a video about the MTS Oceanos, the MV Estonia or the Sewol ferry disaster? These are all relativly "new" Shipwrecks although I really love the old steamers.
It's on my to-do list. I want to improve my animation skills before I do the titanic. Keep an eye out for my next one, the sinking of the Mont-Blanc. The halifax explosion. I'm pretty excited about how it is turning out!

What’s the song called about him?
@@jamesmccarthy5086 there is:" The wreck of the Daniel J morrell" by Dan Hall and "Going Down"
@@plokoon1912 on Amazon music I can’t find the former but did find the latter. I also love Hall’s album It’s Quiet Where They Sleep. Thank you.
Mother Nature always wins
Nice 🎉
I would love to see you cover either the Titanic disaster or the sinking of her sister ship the HMHS Britannic
Never stop learning. Did you know that Daniel j morrell's stern travelled some 5 miles before sinking below the waves.
That's pretty wild!
Why does the ship (daniel J morrell) look like the Edmund fritzgerald
Because they were both freighters on the great lakes. They all have a similar look
Can you do, the Edmund Fitzgerald, ?
Already done my friend. The fitz was my first ship video. ruclips.net/video/F1C1LTLjIX4/видео.html
