He was a completely different player before the injury his rookie year. I don’t think the injury effected his play but confidence hasn’t been the same since. Have to return to that player.
There’s something there and I’m so ready every single time to get believe in him, have my expectations not be met, lose hope, see 1 good play, and start to believe in him again. It’s an abusive cycle but I really think he could be something
Yeah I'm actually with you. I think he's over hated. Jetts have no o line, and that hammers him because one of his weaknesses is pocket awareness. With a good or great D line, and the right OC I honestly think he could be an NFL level QB. He has great athleticism, arm talent, and honestly I don't think his decision making is bad. He just spends sooooo long running for his life. Finally the Jetts won far more games than people expected after rodgers, and he clearly progressed this year.
Watching this here after week 3… they gotta let him be him man… this version of Zach Wilson that refused to throw the ball downfield or throw the ball in general is not the Wilson that got him to the pro level. Let him play
@@huddy1493 I’ve watched every game he’s played, and listened to everything these coaches have said about him through highs and lows. There are clear differences in his game over the course of his career. They are 100% playing scared and like a team that wants to hide behind its defense in an era that rewards aggressive offense. Zach is not absolved, but the coaching staff has not done favors to help this player
A+ mobility and A+ arm talent, two things you can't coach. Zach if you're reading don't listen to anyone you are a freaking stud and you will get your chance.
i truly think if he got drafted to a franchise with a good offensive coach he would have strived. could you imagine rookie zach wilson with like a shane steichen or a sean mcvay to help him out? could have been super lethal... poor kid got sent to qb hell
He can be decent I think all the hate he receives totally destroys he’s confidence which will result in bad playing on he’s part. Good luck Zach! My team has the same issue with Bryce young at the moment
He is a sneaky good runner. The Jets need to play to his strengths and get him rolling out of the pocket, especially if that pass protection was as bad as it was against the Bills. There's something there with him, he can be good enough to get them a wildcard spot I believe.
The Saints really need to trade up for this kid. Zach Wilson may not have had a great season with the Jets, but his great talent is unquestionable. The Saints can damn sure win and possibly take it all the way with him under the right guidance. His playing abilities reminds me a like Mahomes'
Getting traded to a team with a better O-Line and that allows him to play instead of playing scared could help. He's had good moments, and even had good games, but the coaching staff does him no favors on the Jets.
crazy how many opportunities there were to win the new england/detriot games... really wonder how different the narrative wouldve been if those go the other way and the jets made the playoffs
New Jets fan here via Aaron Rodgers arrival. I refuse to stop rooting for the team just because A-Rod is done for the year. I'm traveling from Arkansas in December to watch the Houston game at MetLife - I'm still all in on the program, just a little green behind the ears. After watching this video and operating under the assumption that Wilson is truly *the guy* moving forward, can someone please explain to me why he has struggled so much with consistency over the past two years? He clearly seems to be have has the physical tools to be a successful mid-tier QB1 in the league. What specifically is holding him back? He seems ro be running for his life on every play😅 and I've heard he struggles with decision making. I want to make sure that I'm not missing anything else. Last night he was just OK. I'm curious what he needs to do to get over the hump. Newbie signing out✈️🤙🏼
Biggest thing for me is getting the ball out quicker. Dump it down to your playmakers and allow them to do the rest. The reason why great Quarterbacks aren't running 40 yards out of the pocket is because the ball is out before they are forced to scramble. you will never see rodgers as far out of the pocket as often as zach. Obviously offensive line needs to step up as well and give him time without pressure in his face so the clock doesn't go off in his head as fast. Nfl quarterbacks must do the majority of their work from inside the pocket. But bigger than all this CONFIDENCE CONFIDENCE CONFIDENCE. getting easy completions, not taking sacks, running the ball will help him move the ball down field and allow confidence to grow so that when he does need to take a shot he will have the confidence to do so. In summary, get ball out quick for easy completions, get the ball in playmakers hands whether that means running the ball or throwing screens or short routes. This will allow for increased confidence and help the Jets win football games, he has the tools to get it done and excel.
From what I have watched of him his biggest issue is his nerves. In the Cowboys game he completely shut down and he needed to score but just completely shut down and threw stupid interceptions. If he can calm down and be confident when he needs to be then he can excel.
It looks like the game is moving too fast for him and makes it extremely difficult for him to read the defense, see the field clearly, make the right decisions, and get rid of the ball quickly. Yes, the offensive line has problems, but it is nowhere near as bad as some people make it out to be. A lot of the pressures or sacks he takes are due to him not seeing the field clearly, panicking, and then either running backwards like a chicken with its head cut off, or stepping right into where the pressure is coming from. The best thing for him would have been to sit behind a veteran QB his first season to learn and get acclimated to the NFL, rather than starting right away, especially considering that he comes from a small school and had very weak competition in college. He also would have benefitted from having a coaching staff that designed an offense that plays to his strengths (rolling out, RPOs, etc.). He's at his best when he is allowed to just let it rip and play his game. Yes, it will result in some turnovers, but that comes with the territory. The problem is that the coaching staff seems to be so afraid of him making any mistakes at all that they call the most conservative plays possible until the game has reached the point of desperation, thereby completely negating the entire reason why you would draft a QB like him in the first place. The Jets, being the Jets, completely ruined his development (as they did with Mark Sanchez, Geno Smith, and Sam Darnold). Honestly, I've been a Jets fan for over 35 years, and can only question your sanity for willingly deciding to become of fan of this team.
@@User0934-x6k he’s WAY down my bench I have Josh Allen, Deshaun Watson and Sam Howell. In dynasty you keep your entire roster so I have him stashed in the event he learns from Rodgers and lives up to his potential in 2-3 years.

Funny how the Jets always seem to absolutely ruin the development of young QBs. I'm a life-long Jets fan, but cannot deny that it is a clown show of an organization. Where young QBs go to die.
Biggest tease of a QB I have ever seen. The kid can make any throw and has great athleticism, but for every great play he makes there are 20-25 that make you wonder how the hell he was ever even drafted in the first place. The sad thing is that I think he could have turned out to be a top tier QB if the Jets had done the smart thing and let him sit behind a veteran his first year to watch and learn, rather than just throwing him out to the wolves right away. This organization, as it ALWAYS does, completely ruined his development and wasted his talent. Honestly, given the history of how the Jets consistently screw this up, if I'm a young, promising QB and get drafted by the Jets, then I would refuse to sign and sit out a year in order to have the chance to go someplace else. And I say this as a Jets fan of over 35 years.
