I met Louie in 1992 at Wigan Jazz Festival here in the Uk. He talked to me for about 15 minutes before calling his wife Francine over to take some photographs of me with him. When he returned to the USA he sent the photographs to me with a hand written letter which I still have today. A great, great musician and a great man

A great drummer & a gentleman, I've been drumming for almost 50 years and watched Louie many times & to listen to him speak about his take on what he does makes me think that I don't know much about the art of drumming after all...he really was something special

Not long after I started playing drums in high school, I caught Louie playing on the Tonight Show and it motivated me to keep playing and learning for as long as I could. That was nearly 40 years ago. What an utter legend. Thank you Louie, we all miss you terribly.

It was great to Louie smiling…..I was introduced to Louie in 1980 by my teacher Tommy Thomas. Louie studied with Tommy when he was a teenager in Chicago.

in my eyes Louie started the perfected the double bass style. he explained playing a double bass was like tap dancing. something about that phrase gave me a new way of looking at double bass

This is absolute treasure, thank you for this. I hope every drummer, young or old, will take this in and take it to heart. Just wonderful, deep, yet simple spirit of playing drums. Its foundational.

I love that Terry said he listens to Patsy Kline. She was amazingly soulful and tender in her expression.
