- The Memphis Grizzlies suspended Ja Morant from all team activities yesterday after a video surfaced of Morant flashing a gun on a friend’s Instagram Live account. This comes two months after Morant served an 8-game suspension for flashing a gun on his own Instagram Live account. An NBA spokesperson said “We are aware of the social media post involving Ja Morant and are in the process of gathering more information.” Nick Wright, Chris Broussard and Kevin Wildes react.

Gangsta is having a 231 million dollar contract! THAT is Gangsta! Put the guns away Ja! You don’t need guns. Real Gangsta’s have bodyguards like Lebron James.
I believe in a 2nd amendment repeal BUT rich white conservatives find it a joke when they have they kids in Christmas photos with semis. Let the young brotha live
Ja has taken shooting guard to a whole new level
He a point guard that stay on point😂😂
That would be funnier if he wasn’t a point guard though 😭😂

There is a difference between exercising your constitutional rights and dancing with a gun like it’s a toy. If Ja was at a range with glasses and ear protection do you think he’d face punishment?
Yes. 100%
To preface this I think he's an idiot. But whether your at a range, hunting, or dancing around with it like a toy. It's 3 of those are you using a gun for some sort of enjoyment/entertainment.
@@thewintersoldier383 no he would not. Maybe if they saw him dancing with it ,but not just firing at a range
@@theripper631 yes he would. The NBA contracts state there should be NO brandishing of a gun under any circumstances
I'm not sure what the bylaws of the NBA's code of conduct exactly for contractual players but I'm assuming yes. Alot of professional sports have bylaws in the contracts that don't allow certain things they can do, represent in optics or have under a binding contract. Patrick Mahomes, I believe, in his contract prohibits Skiing so you can imagine a GUN and flashing one would be part of NBA contract lol
I feel like everyone is forgetting WHY this gun issue with Ja is a problem. Buddy allegedly hit a teenager with one AND had that Indiana Packers incident. To be seen with a gun twice afterwards is a bad look of guilt on his behalf.
You forgot that he's a role model and a face for the NBA. They don't want to be associated with a dude who's waiving guns around like they're toys.
He’s trying his best to be a bad stereotype.
U missing the point
He wasn’t charged, he just hurt his relationship with his employer. If I flashed a gun on IG live and my employer saw, they’d take action.
Yeah we’d be fired instantly. Man has done it twice now.

Wrong doesn’t have to be illegal. No one is saying he did anything illegal. The issue is you don’t just wave a gun no matter who you are. That’s a safety issue
It is illegal to brandish a firearm in public. I’m every state. Unless you have it out for defensive reasons
@@stephenkalmar1653 brandishing means displaying the firearm in order to intimidate or threaten another person. That isn't the case here. He was using it as a prop/toy. Stupid and irresponsible for sure, but not illegal (depending on what state he was in).

Not for nothing but he did break the law. Waiving a gun around is illegal. Not the most egregious crime granted but worth mentioning

Here’s the thing Brou, you won’t see Bryce Harper or Josh Allen doing that because they aren’t influenced by a sub culture of gangsters and crime. Context matters. Even if he didn't break the law, this is not some random dude we're talking about. We're talking about NBA superstar, multimillionaire, role-model to little kids, Ja Morant. This totally changes things. He is influencing kids who are highly impressionable and want to be like him. "If Ja's flashing a gun and people think it's okay, then maybe I can flash one, too." Not okay.
he's a role model just in the same way NBA YoungBoy and rappers who cap rap rock about.
So what did he do wrong ? Are there not rights to guns here?
@@justinmathis7707Bro but why risk it. He has lost 40 million already, if he gets suspended for a year that’s another 48.5 million that he was supposed to be paid next year. Exercising your right to carry is one thing, if you keep it private. It’s a totally different issue when you put it on social media. Paul Pierce got fired for having a good time on IG Live.
If you make your employer look bad, it’s grounds to be fired, even if what you did wasn’t illegal.
Excellent point.
That's it. The team and league doesn't want the association with gun ownership. That's what the punishment is for. Ja did nothing illegal or even unsafe. As long as your finder is on the trigger guard and not the trigger, and you aren't pointing the firearm at people, dancing with one is perfectly safe. Its occurs in the military all the time.
@@conchobar Pointing a gun at or near your own head is very unsafe, doesn’t matter if it happens everyday or not. Plus him brandishing another firearm for no good reason is more than a team issue, it’s a league issue. These players are governed by the bylaws in the CBA, which is agreed to by the players association, who represents every NBA player. Without a CBA, we get what’s called a lock out.
And both of them posting on ig is just stupid. The heard something about Paul trying to get out of his contract or something. Maybe Ja is trying to quit his job too. Can’t really explain such stupid behavior otherwise.

Nick Wright is right, and Brou missed the bigger picture. It's not about legality, it's about protecting the shield.
With the NBA supporting certain stances, including anti-2A legislation, they would be hypocritical for them to let this fly.
Ain't no shield, wrong sport.....Brou's point wasn't the legality it was the appearance of seeing a black man with a gun vs other race with a gun.
It's sad that we keep giving excuses for stupid behavior. It's dangerous and if someone doesn't do something hes gonna get himself hurt or maybe worse. Chris said something about the driver which I think is something to look at. He's been given so many chances and chooses to go the mental health route, which I think personally is a coward. His father has failed him on how to conduct himself as a man. They kid got an opportunity to do something many dream of and its about to over because of lack of accountability.
I don't agree with Bru. NBA is a private organization that has its own by-laws that all staff needs to abide by... and that includes Ja. The punishment will come down not because Ja's actions were "dangerous" to himself - it will be because he has broken NBA laws.
Exactly. I was surprised by his take.
His take was trash because he has a long history at this point. The nba isn’t mad at that video only, it’s just something ELSE on top of a mountain of foolishness. If Josh Allen as example had a year like Ja has w foolishness he would be getting raked under the coals, has nothing to do w skin tone.

All those players he named wouldn't be stupid enough to do that!
Ja treats a gun like a toy. As a gun owner THAT is what bothers me.
Nick speaks volume with this bro. Y’all need to listen to him forrral cause he’s speaking from his heart
He really out here trying to get more shots up.
If it were those guys doing it?! They aren’t! If my aunt had nuts she’d be my uncle. Get real. It’s legal, but it’s idiotic and completely ridiculous
I don't think anyone is saying it's illegal.(unless he was in a state with real gun laws.) It's just against NBA league rules.
I think it starts at 20 games and only goes up from there. Nick is right, any evidence that points towards there actually being a gun at the Pacers event is damning. If there was proof there was a gun there, I think a permanent suspension would be a completely fair and reasonable punishment…
If they could have proved there was a laser attached to the gun he would have been banned. But the nba couldn’t prove that
brandishing or waving a gun in a threatening or reckless manner, especially in a public place or from a vehicle, is illegal. Also there is a morality clause in his contract.
WRONG...YOU CAN NOT BRANDISH A WEAPON, IN ANY STATE, FOR ANY NON-IMMENANT THREAT CIRCUMSTANCE. HE DID BREAK THE LAW.
Is Josh Allen did this the NFL would come down on him quicker than anything and Brou knows it
Yes they would, IDK why he said that
I agree with you BUT, Wentz got all his linemen shotguns for Christmas and i didn't hear a peep from anyone. Idk what the NFL would do if the position was reversed but let's not pretend that gun ownership isnt viewed very differently based on what color the gun owner is.
NEVER LET ANYONE KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE BECAUSE DOING SO GIVES THEM INSIGHT ON HOW TO HANDLE YOU
Lorenzen is dead, Dolph is dead. Wake up.
Nick was spot on here bruh
The race card was completely uncalled for but whatever
nah man, he should get a pass for beating up underage children and pointing guns at NBA players. HES BLACK, HES A VICTIM MAKIGN 40 MILLION. CLOWNWORLD.
IF HE WAS WHITE HE WOULD BE OUT THE LEAGUE
I kind of agree and I mess with brou but naw Ja st.Patrick is an idiot👎🤷🏿♂️
fr
You are soo right. Beyond stupid for him to bring that up
You guys offer, by far and with no doubt, the absolute best NBA analysis on TV. By a mile. I love the dynamic and chemistry, you guys actually seem to enjoy talking to each other and it shows through. I've been watching everything sports analysis on ESPN, fox, TNT, etc for decades now...but you guys with First Things First are the absolute go-to show over all others by a mile. Keep it up!
Facts!
I agree 💯
lost a lot of respect for brou in this segment
Facts !!!
Brandishing a gun is illegal.
At this point it's either he has a genuine change of heart or move on from him.
If a hockey player was flexing a gun on ig live I can guarantee you he would never play another minute in the nhl
What’s worse is now when someone else does this the NBA has to go soft on them because they went soft on Ja to look “not racist.”
If Josh Allen had the record of Ja Morant and done this he would be suspended a whole season…
Yea the NFL don't play 😂 you can't even use hand gestures of a gun or bow during a on field celebration without facing at least a hefty fine
Ja is one incident away from ending his career and ruining his life. Playing with guns can lead to disaster. Former NBA star Jason Williams accidentally killed a man playing with a gun and ended his career and went to prison. What happens if a real street hood gangster decides to test Ja by pulling up on him? Ja needs to think about all the possible consequences of his showboating with guns.
This is not a case of rights. Ur PRIVATE employer says this is not allowed!!
Nba “gunboy” 😅
Kid obviously doesn't wanna be helped and doesn't understand responsibility. If that's the case then so be it, we didn't fall for his insincere apology anyway. He should've taken this as a lesson of humility and apply it to himself but instead decided to act like a fool. I wouldn't mind him out of the league tho 🤷I just hope someone would play gangsta around him when he least expected it 🤷🤷🤷
1 year suspension without pay, idk what else would wake him up.
Cmon man. Clarence lived at home with both parents. And Clarence’s parents had a real good marriage.
this situation on its own i think Broussard is right. But if you include all of the past incidents, doesn’t really matter what you look like the punishment would be similar. The brother lost 39 million and said it was a mistake he learned from. Now the employer is looking at you as insubordinate.
Ja has to understand that being reckless is not good. Hanging with his boys is cool. Waving the gun around is reckless because of what he just went through. Have to think 😅
