I was also getting a little tired of seeing people say that immortal is "A good game but the microtransactions are bad"
Its not even that good. Its okay for a mobile in its best moments but even then if you tab out to answer a message you disconnect from servers. So its a game that wants to be seen amongst mobile games but it also demands your full attention like a pc game.

Diablo II was a masterpiece of computer programming at the time . All the different items that could be generated - the ability to save places in the progress of the game - and many more features that were pioneering at the time . Problem is - nothing was produced anywhere near the level which D2 offered . Completely amazes me even to this day ...

Diablo 2 is a super well designed game and not just at a software level. Everything just sort of works together really well.

@@SiChuanChilli Action RPGs don't play well on mobile (small screen, lack of sufficient inputs, interacting with the game requires you to cover what little screen space you have). If it had turned out that Diablo Immortal had proved us all wrong, I'd be playing on a PC, even with a mediocre port.

I thought about playing Diablo Immortal, but I recently found out that I’m dying.
I couldn’t see myself playing this game when I only have 50+ years left in this life.

All jokes aside, here’s the issue. Gamers who consume gaming content AND play games, are such a small fragment of the community. So they will never see video like this that gives them insight into the incredibly predatory content they are putting money into.
Think about this, if you’ve ever watched a tutorial video on how to defeat a raid boss, you would fall into the 10% of gamers who consume gaming media for the games you play.
Essentially what I’m saying is that no matter what, games like this are here to stay. Because the vast majority of people, unfortunately, don’t care about the products they get. They just consume and consume and consume.
Just take a look at metacritic user reviews for this game (0.2/100 with 2k+ total user reviews), and then compare that low rating with the incredibly high ratings in the Apple store (4.5/5 with 87k reviews) and the Google Play store (3.7/5 with 550k reviews). You tell me which one the Executives care about.
I commend everyone for fighting the good fight. But we lost this war a very long time ago.

Rule of thumb: If the sum of all the microtransactions at launch (say 3 month window after launch) is greater than $60 USD in a free to play game, you are being ripped off. The reason is that all that content would have been packaged for a single price in the past. Furthermore, this should also mean that there are no unlimited microtransaction sales (e.g. timesaver packs, XP packs etc) and this also means that the developers intentionally made their game boring and tedious to sell you packs.
If they don't respect you as a customer, they shouldn't have you as a customer. These morons are so far up their own ass they think normal people will pay these ridiculous prices. They are just depending on other morons like them to swipe their credit cards.
Uh, no, they don't think normal people will pay these ridiculous prices at all; they don't CARE about the normal people; as long as there enough idiots online, whether greater idiots who keep playing, or less ones who came in new and are soon to be gone, for the whales to destroy so the whales feel good about their ridiculous spending, Blizzard is happy; because it brings in the cold hard cash. There's a good argument that some games should be $100 off the shelf but people are stuck on this $60 price point that is only $10 more than what people paid for NHL 97 on SNES 25 years ago. Otherwise I agree with you.

But at the same time, if we can justify watching a movie at the theater for $15, we can justify spending more than $100 for a game we spend hundreds and hundreds of hours playing.
i think the best thing about peoples defense to the game of "oh but i only buy BP and Im 1924 and on the same difficulty as players who've input more it aint that bad).
do they not reliese, Resonance. the p2w Power buy is a % based system. This means every new Difficulty with a higher Increase in Stat Options per piece that With every increase the Difference also widens 20% Added onto 1900, and 20% Added onto 19,000 are drastically wider. this isnt a Flat buff I.E +300 Damage. its a % based buff which is added on after your base scores awarded from gear.
getting 190 Int. and having a Modifer of 20% Added through resonance is only adding 18 additional Int. however, if in Hell 11 ur sitting on 19,000 Intelligence. Suddenly thats, 3800 increase. so the Minor 18 Difference as Suddenly astronomically widen. the game is physically built. to Grip you in under the justification of "oh its playable..." to then Later on Slowly Widen the Gap to a extent where it becomes a serious problem and Onsets Sunk cost fallacy, where u suddenly wills start p2wing to Justify the anormous quantity of hours inputted in the game keeping up orginally.
even if u dont have a Gambling addiction and its Predatoral nature doesnt grip you at first, its Effectively got a passive Sunk cost fallacy implemented you to grip you later down the line. the game is ironcially Extremely smartly put together, because it ha aAnswer to drag a Player down in every circumstance. Weather ur a dude inputting £20 a Month in the 30 day sub options (boon and BP) a gambling addict. or someone Who wants a Mobile game to play. this games going to drag More money out of you then it deserves. 110%
these maybe exaggerated numbers. however they need to be shown that way to show a problem, no matter how slow the creep is its present. with this built in, the game has no way to attract new players. because every week after launch u join, its effectively that much more impossible to remain compettiive in a f2p market. to stack class change is coming to the game. 0 reason for a player to play a alt, so theres nop new players who'll hop onm for long. with the group reqirements on hell its going to become impossible to push through as people will stop doing the content. the current players are also falling off, because either people see how much they've spent on the game and force themselves away. hit a paywall and immediately quit. which means its u + 500 Gambling addicts on a Server, even in the best of games..in a MMO, this isnt going to offer u good gameplay.
I gave it a shot. I downloaded it, played it for about 10 minutes and asked myself “why did it take them 4 years to port Diablo 3???” Then I heard about the depths of the cash shop so it made sense. Also, the absurdity of the pc port of a mobile port of a pc game being worse than the original pc game is baffling.

I mean if people actually spend 1000 hours on actually life skill it's equivalent to getting to speak 2-3 easy to medium dif languages at daily functional level 🙃 or getting able to learn a functional making money skill, hell, even if you are an introvert and social outcast you can learn art and 3d modeling to try your own home career nowadays. I know quite a few people earn enough for a living just like that. Not the best jobs jn the world but it's viable. Especially in third world countries, if you earn 1k in those countries you are living a fine life, not gonna be rich but fine.
Time is money, teen can play mmorpg as f2p because they can waste it. Unless you want to face mid life crisis it sucks to sink time like that. It's just like taking drugs, you feel good when you take it and feel shjt when you don't, it just that things will come back to bite you much later in life.

I stopped having faith in Blizzard years ago. As a kid, I sincerely believed that this would be the company that will lead the industry in the years to come. I grew up with W3 and TBC. My excitement after successfully installing all WoW CD'S, and being finally able to create my first character was immeasurable. But as years went by, I witnessed them slowly milking and destroying WoW's lore, adding weird stuff to the in-game shop, adding a real-money shop in D3, and carelessly destroying their HOTS community throwing under the bus so many promising players. Then reports of abusive behaviors and sexual harassment to their own employees. Lies with W3 Reforged, Overwatch 2, Diablo Immortal like ENOUGH already. I woke up years ago and discovered that there are plenty of better alternatives to their games. I still do not understand why streamers throw so much money into their Immoral games, they just keep fueling them. I loveddd Blizz with all my heart but inventing a time machine and reverting everything is the only way I can forgive them.
I agree. I remember playing the first Diablo over and over again. Then when WoW came out I was blown away. They used to be my favourite gaming company. Not anymore.

But... I remember being on a school trip and seeing the original CD cases for the classic World of Warcraft as a kid, and man, I dreamt of working for Blizzard for when I grew up.

Diablo 2, so sadistic, evil and cool when I was young, watching my brother playing it, and for me? I played WoW, WOTLK, Cataclysm and then in Legion. I became one of the top 200 world's best priests at one point in that game. I loved Legion. Growing up and playing HOTS and SC2 for the first time, Overwatch on Beta, like my god, I loved the games, I played D3 as well so so much, but then they changed all the difficulty modes in the game and brought in cash on the market, and then HOTS died and the SC2 community got lower because of the lack of new content, Diablo 3 never got new things into the game except shitty things for terrible rifts, Overwatch released 1-2 nice skins every 4 months but no new or good maps, no new heroes for 2+ years, then the sexual harassment happened, and the lies, and Diablo Immortal having the worst reputation of any game this entire year so far within just a few fucking days. This company will go to hell itself soon and I strongly believe that Diablo 4 is their LAST chance at redemption before their new survival game comes out some time in 2024/2025, and they better not fuck that game up. Do NOT FUCK UP MY DIABLO 4 BLIZZARD! And fuck your microtransactions!

EVEN if I pay £40-£50 for the game and it's fucking amazing for just a week without any of their sneaky/lazy company bullshit, I will be so happy.
But, seeing the company go down this way and what's happening, damn this stuff hurts. And I don't think I will ever see SC3 too because of the new game Stormgate that's coming out in the future being a replacement for their previous RTS titles, and that shit hurts as well. Fuck man.
i could write down my own experience, but it would be mostly the same. Only that i started earlier in 1998 with Starcraft. i played competitive and i was really good . i watched the rise of leagues and upcoming tournament, i saw the rise of esports. but after a while it was about mony and the word sport just went missing.
what a lot of people who state that this is free to play , just as hearthstone is, seem to be forgetting is, that you need the F2P people. In hearthstone they are necessary so the whales have people to play against. Otherwise they would have no one to show off their card decks of a few 100 or 1000$ or €. Only if there are a lot of F2players the whales will be happy. Because if there is no one you can belittle, there is no fun in whaling. So whenever someone says:" hey it is free to play, i tend to remind people that it is not really that, but that those people keep the game itself alive and looking alive. There is nothing like a free dinner , never forget that.
Thank fucking goodness someone came out with an honest review! This is a first of me watching this channel but, I really like how this guy pulls no punches. I hope Activision sees this and so does Blizzard. When you said there is absolutely no innovation, another game that came to my mind was Call of Duty. as a f2p there is a boss around 46 that cannot be beaten by free to play barbarians. every other class i tried was fine but the boss throws down fire circles and stands in them so you have to slowly die as you attack, no choice. The circles also don't disappear until entire screen is covered, gunna side with they didn't test it at all before releasing........
I'm not the biggest Asmongold fan, but this dude is the king of doing a video with zero cuts. 25 min video not a single one, vs other content creators with a cut every 10 seconds.

the real reason they put that shit up for mobile. was the already huge money grab they put in place... NOT everyone has a Computer or a Gaming computer. which aint nessesary . but what does everyone do have? a PHONE. more Phones = More Players, more players= more people to possible blow money on their game.. supposedly they had 5 million users or dwonloads the first week or whatever bs they came up with.. but the concurrent players prob aint even a million.. and the only players that are "concurrent" are the ones that have blown 1000s of dollars they feel like oh i cant quit i spent my money on it vs the person who didnt spend a penny would just uninstall the Bs.

Fucking nailed it, and as a huge 20+ year diablo fan, this hurts my soul. So much wasted potential.
I tried to see how far I could get as a free to play player. I got to paragon level 30. Item level 1152, and Hell II mode. For Hell II (which goes up to 6), you need an item level of 1220. My gear was all super bis and couldnt get much better for my ilvl, so just for getting to the second difficulty of 6, you need to pay. I could after some hardcore grinding maybe get to 1220 ilvl, but I would have to get super lucky with gear drops and geta few rank ups with legendary gems the free way. I quit playing 2 days ago.

You can pretty easily farm hell 2 at 1100 item level. Not saying that makes it better but you could move up if you wanted.
As a man with ADHD, which makes me very prone to impulse and addiction, I am running FAR away from this title, which is actually really sad because Diablo is one of my favorite franchises in entertainment. Anyway, people like me fall prey to these awful predatory tactics so easily. I pray that this awful model will be outlawed in the near future, cuz jesus christ, it’s so scummy.

Path of exile, the true successer to Diablo 2 title as best JRPG. Not pay to win and simply fun. Can be hard for a new player at first and that's probably the only down side to it
I also have ADHD, but ended up taking the nostalgia bait and played the game. Granted i did have a lot of fun because of the satisfying monster killing, but I ended up buying literally all of the 1 time purchase things, because why not, I'm having fun!
After that i went on vacation for a week and when i came back really couldnt bring up the energy to play anymore because honestly the only thing that's fun about it is that the monsters die in a flashy way and i spent like 150 euros on that. Go me!
I don't think Diablo 3 is that bad. Sometimes if I feel like just playing something without needing to think about a build or boss encounters and I just want to click some stuff to death I will play Diablo 3, but you're right Last Epoch, Grim Dawn, Path of Exile are all much more deep and fulfilling experiences as far as ARPG's go. I certainly am not excited to get a simplified version of Diablo 3 after all this time.

This is the first time I've seen someone talk about the gameplay and endgame in a significant way.
I remember from about 8-10 years old playing Gauntlet 2 in the local arcade during the 80's was such a great experience! They kept that machine near the door so folks could hear the voice echoing as the arcade was right next to one of the entrances to the mall.

“It’s a good game, the monetization is just bad…” these two things can’t be divorced from one another. it’s not 2010, game developers don’t slap monetization models onto games they’ve already developed. Diablo immortal’s core gameplay loop is essentially one giant 20-dollar loot box. The ENTIRE DESIGN of the game is built from the foundation up around the monetization scheme.
I couldn’t even understand the contention it was really good. there are a dozen action games on phones that play more or less identically, and all of them have the gameplay depth of a shallow rain puddle. If you REALLY enjoy it that much, you can pick another one of these near-identical games and at least not reward blizzard.

The most fascinating thing is, there's a huge divide between those who recognize the predatory practices of these companies and those who either don't realize it or just don't care. It's become very apparent to me over the last few years that those of us who won't stand for this kind of BS are quickly becoming the minority. Younger folks who have grown up with microtransactions and other predatory practices have simply become acclimatized and normalized to it, not giving it a second thought. "Oh, this is just how it is. What does it matter? Just don't play", they say. Well it's cancerous practices like this that are going to completely infect and saturate the market in the near future, and it will become difficult to find games that don't do it. Fast-forward 10 years and it will be the younger folks of today shouting about whatever new thing they invent to vacuum cash out of customer's wallets, and the future youth claiming "Oh, this is how it is. What does it matter? Just don't play." Rinse-and-repeat to infinity.
Players have been trained to be 'Payers'. Look at this way; Black Desert Online and Lost Ark are looking pretty good compared DM. Think about that, Lost Ark is preferable to Diablo, and they are both F2P preying on Payers. The only games that do this and are not crap, are POE and Warframe, in my view.

Apart from the legendaries , where he said that they are just X%dmg increase or X% added slow ( maybe the ones that alterate abilities did not drop from him), I kind of agree with everything he said. And I played the game way more than he did and I played almost F2P. The endgame loop is too bland and repetitive. The game plays bad on PC. PVP lacks a lot at this moment but maybe they will add more stuff. There are systems that a F2P player will probably never really interact with. It was fun for a week but then it got very repetitive and boring. Now, everybody can have an opinion and each opinion has the same value. It can be a good game to you and a bad game to me.

As soon as a game developer goes from private to public their focus shifts from their players to their shareholders. This isn't just a theoretical thought exercise either. A publicly traded company's board of directors has a legally binding financial responsibility to people who own their stock, and can even be sued if they do not uphold that fiduciary responsibility. As soon as Blizzard was bought by Activision I knew that was the beginning of the end for them, and Diablo Immortal is the culmination of that business venture.

The quality of the games depends on the staff. The amount of money there game tries to snake out of your wallet and the number of staff and budget are determined by the company for shareholders sake. Being publicly traded isn't a death sentence for quality. That's on the staff.

V Rising is the best game I've played in years. Costs only $20 and it's early access. Normally I only wishlist early access games to play at release. It's already release quality, and less buggy than some AAA games.

I actually started playing Diablo III Reaper Of Souls pretty much last year on Xbox and I found it to be very fun. But the fun lies within seeing those numbers go up when your character becomes stronger. I would likely not enjoy Diablo Immortal because I want the numbers to go up because I played well, because I deserved those upgrades with my decisions in game and not because I have spent money on it.
D2R has been the best thing for the diablo franchise since the original versions release way back in 2000

There are no lootboxes in diablo immortal. Calling crests a form of lootbox is the death of ARPGs. Playable content that has a chance to drop an item.... That's the core of the genre. Don't get me wrong, I hate everything related to the store in this game. Crests are too limited and the paywall to get more is just disgusting. Using the term lootbox for this game is just mudding the waters when it comes to lootboxes. Imagine if dungeons or raids in MMOs were called lootboxes too? Maybe the dungeon has a daily or weekly cap... I can boost another character with real money and then do it again... Want the government to mess with that? You think it stops there? Someone will easily say:
"Hold on, we are limiting the way these games can sell lootboxes because they are predatory. How is money more important than the time kids spend playing? If a game is designed to push players to play as much as possible to get an item, that's as predatory as charging money for the chance to get an item."
See how easy it is? The more power you give the government, the more it will overreach. That's why you should, at a minimum, be very precise when you want the government to infringe on the rights of others. That's how we keep it from overreaching.

I have pretty much the same experience. I have 56 LVL now and I am not quite sure how (and why) I got so far... First impression was a blast but it started to be so boring later on :/ Last 10 LVLs I did just to see "maybe it will be better soon" but the more I played actually the more I was disappointed.

Honestly this is why I really enjoy watching Asmongold. The breakdowns and logic he gives for anything is just so well spoken on top of people like him being actual gamers like us.
That's why I think the OTK GameShow went extremely well. You didn't have wannabes in nice suits, (cept Rich I guess lol, 🤔 ), up on stage commenting. You had actual gamers giving opinions about these indie games. It's just such a huge difference to see actual gamers up on stage talking about any genre of games vs these "journalist" types who play something just to get paid to write a review.

If you're gonna play a Diablo game, play Diablo 1, it's the Iconic one and has the most integral design out of the entire series.
If you hate grinding out levels and gear in every modern MMORPG or Action RPG, you have Diablo 2 to thank for that.
Most people jump at the opportunity to call Diablo 2 an improvement because of the change in design towards action, than the methodical design of D1 that actually accentuated the gothic horror atmosphere of Diablo 1
People shit on Diablo 3, but as someone who never played Diablo 1 or 2, I absolutely loved 3. Genuinely had a fun time with that game, and sunk hundreds and hundreds of hours in to it. While, from what I’ve seen/read, it obviously isn’t as good as Diablo 2 by any stretch, on its own it was a lot of fun. I feel like a lot of hate for it stems from peoples love for Diablo 2 and comparing the two, which is totally fair. Still though, I thought it was a lot of fun and a great game.

Play Diablo 1 first single player and in coop.
You can finish the original campaign with the hellfire expansion in a day without even speedrunning it. And play it coop with at least 3 other people.
Diablo 1 is the best also because it's short.
Diablo 2 was generally good, but it is the first time Blizzard really casualized a game in my opinion.
The few improvements it added over D1 actually made the game a grind in my opinion.
And I remember re-playing it co-op with friends for the first time in years, and after ACT2 the game became an endurance run, because it got so boring long and repetitive.
It's a small bit of butter stretched over a large piece of bread.
Diablo 3 was a terrbile joke and an insult to fans and consumers as well.
1. The change in art-style went from Gothic-Horror to cartoonishly wow.
Not Good.
It shows that the developers all they worked on before were wow expansions.
2. The story was a spit in the eyes of Diablo fans with Leah being especially insulting.
3. An always online system.
The fact that this creeped it's way into EVERY Blizzard game, even StarCraft 2, ruined experiences to me.
4. No LAN.
Diablo 1 & Diablo 2, were some of the essential LAN Party games.
No LAN connection, No LAN party.
5. The auction house ruined the economy of the game.
Anyone who says "I ENJOYED DIABLO 3" simply doesn't know any better, because of a lack of experience, or simply is a downright idiot who doesn't have any standards.

For him it was all a joke from the start. Sure he gave them the money, which is bad, but the point was to have entertaining streams and to make the pay-to-win as apparent as possible and making fun of it, so others don't but it.
Fair enough. I personally prefer cracking open a cold one and blasting some demons and heavy metal for a while every now and then, as opposed to studying 500 pages worth of metacrafting details and sweating my ass off with memory game bullet hell bosses (disclaimer, I've played a lot of PoE and it's pretty fun until it gets to the very endgame). Lost Ark was just boring and the combat had no balls.
I feel Diablo Immortal really hurt the showcase of Diablo IV and made people speak negative of 4. I for one will play 4 if they keep their practices in Immortal out of it. I'm also worried seeing Overwatch 2 is free to play. If OW2 does Immortal thing I will just have to give up on Blizzard.

I have so little faith in Blizzard that I've just stopped looking forward to any of it. Blizzard seemingly died when they shut down Blizzard North, with their incompetence coming slowly over the life of WoW and really exposing itself in the last few Starcraft 2 releases. With games like Path of Exile, Grim Dawn and Last Epoch carrying on the rpg side, some WC/SC elements within some of the Warhammer games, and finally WoW being surpassed by FF14, Blizzard doesn't have have the best of any of their former flagships now.

I wish listed many things from Devolver digitals indie showcase, the one called Birth actually made me tear up. The idea of creating a companion for your self out of loneliness from random bits and bobs is strange, macabre and intriguing.
I remember when Blizzard announced Diablo Immortal, and were confused about the lack of enthusiasm, "Don't you guys have phones?, they asked.
But they didn't understand their audience.
And now that the game is out, and people complain about it, "Don't worry you guys, Diablo 4 will be great!", they say, while slowly killing the franchise.

I love that you bring up PoE bosses, I always have and always will continue to fight Catarina ASAP when I have her available bc I just enjoy the fight so much, *even if* it'd be more profitable or beneficial for me to keep my current syndicate board. Everything in the fight can be deadly, but it's *fair*. There's distinct audio telegraphs for everything so even if she teleports away you know what to expect, A massive line comes out of you in the direction of a pillar and you know you need to go that way and you'll eventually break the pillar by standing near it, even if by accident. Then it leaves behind a very distinct ground effect with a neon green wall that lets you know you'll take damage if you stand in it and the way it slowly closes the arena off gradually ramps up the tension as the fight progresses and more and more of the arena closes. I also feel like such a bad ass dodging the middle pillar beams, which always go clockwise and have a bit of a ramp up indicator Incase you lost track. Maybe the only non-intuitive mechanic in that fight is that you might go a few fights without realizing you can pop the skeletons ("Arise my children") by walking over them before they start crawling, but even if they do start crawling it's pretty obvious that you should avoid neon green skeletons that are slowly making their way towards you. I feel like such a bad ass dancing around the arena and if I die, I know exactly why
I love catarina too but the green dangerous things on green floor sometimes yeets me. Apart from a few questionable visual designs, it's actual a good boss fight

agreed, They should have also charged $70 for the base game and $100 for the Legendary edition and $120 for pre ordering the Legendary Edition which gives you a soundtrack or some bullshit folded up poster of a Lady Demon Hunter.
They will soon release the 6 star gem and 7 star gem so that the whales could continue their happiness forever
