For those wanting to groom, start out being the best bather. I watched youtube videos to learn how to bathe/dry faster and better. I am starting to groom at 40. I am a bather slowly learning to groom. They chose to train me over other bathers because my dogs are the dryest and cleanest. Now I watch a lot of instructional grooming videos to help my training. Watching videos on batheing and drying helped me a lot. I have been batheing for less than a year. It is hard work. Our salon use to have a 17 year old dog groomer, she moved.

I remembered you saying something about being a bather at 14 before. I work at a dog daycare that also does grooming and one of our dogs’ human siblings asked if we had any jobs for 14 year olds so I suggested to my boss that the kid could be a bather because we don’t really trust a 14 year old in a room of 30+ dogs by himself 😂
Looks to me that you're very good and talented at dog grooming you are very nice to the dogs. I never thought it was something that I would have had as entertainment but I guess you make it so I really enjoy your videos

I did something similar when I wanted to learn something...I went to the local racetrack and asked the guard to find me a trainer that would feed me and get me a license and I'd work for him...that was 1989..after 4yrs working in the racing industry I went to a farm manager and said "I don't know anything about delivering baby horses, would you teach me"..he hired me and I've been basically a "midwife" (aka foaling person) for Thoroughbred horses for the past 30 yrs...it never gets old ❣️
I also worked for a groomer and bathed the dogs for 2 years. I watched the groomer intently. She was an excellent groomer. BUT, she hit a dog with her steel comb on the head because he kept moving. That's the day I quit. I am basically self taught and became the best groomer in my area. And people trusted me. I have never lifted a hand to a dog. But I have been bitten and had to get stitches several times. I miss it. I may open another groom shop.
"Everyone's story is different" mine is COMPLETELY different 😂 I've worked as a kennel technician for years and just needed more satisfaction from my job so I took online certification classes and now I'm working hands-on as my job 😭 it's so nice to be at the last stretch of my career race

Yeah but both dogs I've ever had was scared of the toenail thing and I was scared to clip them. I would never put my pups in those harnesses because they hated them! But that baby is too cute!!!!

I started as a bather too! My dog groomer's bather didn't show up & offered to help her out. I thought how hard can this be? Hahaha...
