In this video, I am using this de-matting tool very carefully. amzn.to/3OQ0p7j It’s important to follow the specific steps demonstrated in this video for safe, successful results.
Your videos helped me out so much last year when I had no idea I was brushing my baby girl the wrong way. I would find matts here and there. Then I would have to get her hair cut low. I don’t like that look on my Goldendoodle. Today I brush her every two days with that be coat king and comb. Most days I just use the comb to make sure no knots and finish with the brush to make her more fluffy. I love my dogs hair long, so it is very important to me that I take care of it the right way for her
I love your channel, your clear instructions are always on point. I follow many rescue channels on fb and RUclips and I recommend your channel to them. ♥️.
Just a reminder to novices, HOLD THE HAIR so that there is slack between your fingers and where the follicles are rooted. Between your fingers (pinching the hair) and the ends, you can pull a bit. Pulling without breaking the tension to the root will cause major discomfort. Dogs have millions of follicles per square inch depending on the breed. And some dogs have very long down hairs. One pluck for us is like ripping out part of your scalp for dogs. Also, if mats are especially thick, use a metal tooth comb to stab through the dreadlocks while shampooing. Don't go to heavy with shampoo as some can cause skin irritation in dogs who's skin hasn't had a breath of fresh air in a while.
I need that tool. I've been using scissors to slice / cut the mat in sections lengthwise and then use a ferminator to work and drag the mat out. I also use a small ferminator on the eyes area to remove the gunk. Works like a charm. Sometimes I can just tug and pull upwards and out, basically dissecting the mat and breaking free the knot and pull the mat out without losing any hair but it's time-consuming.
Hello ! I have a new friend and she is a standard poodle. What shampoo and conditioner would you recommend to use? How often should I shower her ? Thank you
I’ve heard that grooming severely matted ears can cause the dogs to do a lot of head shaking when they’re finally taken care of, because sometimes the matting is so bad it cuts off circulation to the ears, and when the matting is cleared out the return of blood flow feels weird and they shake their heads a lot and put themselves at risk of causing a hematoma. Have you ever had this kind of thing happen?
My mom needs one of these for her doodles. She has 4 doodles because her two adults had puppies and she kept two of the puppies. She gave me one, and I do all the grooming at home. I prefer to keep her coat short, I brush her every other day because it’s nice and short. Every two months I give her a full haircut and a bath beforehand but every two weeks I trim her in the places that need touch ups (her paws, butt, face, and vulva because she gets pee on her fur) and luckily she has no mats ever and is nice and clean (well as clean as a 7 month old puppy can be lol) but omfg, my mom’s dogs are so matted and dirty and long haired. Every time I see photos I can just smell the stink from my phone. 😢
I use our slicker brush to get the tangles out of our dogs ears I start from the bottom and work my way up the exact same way and the plus side is the dogs hair is not going to be cut at awkward lengths.
Hi, Just discovering you, thanks. In another video you showed dematting two dogs with coconut oil and brushing, saying to brush out dead coat before washing (likening it otherwise to oil change without the filter), but here you say to wash dog first. Does it depend? Thanks!!
The tool she is using is meant for pulling undercoat from a husky or German shepherd. It’s NOT meant to use to demat an ear. She should have shaved it off for the comfort of the dog.
@@GoGroomer don't worry! we make sure to be super gentle with her, it's just certain spots like her face, her ears and her paws that she just hates us touching 😅
Don't use the words "safe" with that tool!!! You will encourage idiots to carelessly use this tool and slice the skin open. And ears are ESPECIALLY dangerous if the user doesn't know what they are doing. The Mars coat king is a fantastic tool and is very effective for its purpose. But make no mistake, it can go very wrong. Please use with extra care. The video shows very well how to position the ear. I'm just triggered by the use of "safe" 👍🏻
As a professional dog groomer, I’m begging you don’t listen to this. The very first thing she tells you is wrong. NEVER bathe a dog without dematting first. The water will set the mat and make it harder to get out. Never use a demat rake on the ear fur. If you mess up, ear skin tears easily and will bleed all over the place. Instead, demat using a 10blade on a clipper and shave the matting off. This will help you avoid putting your dog in unnecessary pain and discomfort just for your own amusement of him looking cute. You can avoid matting by brushing your dog every day like you’re supposed to. If you don’t want to brush your dog every day, get a breed with short hair like a lab or pit bull. STOP NEGLECTING YOUR DOGS AND LETTING THEM GET MATTED IN THE FIRST PLACE. ❤

Instead of using the matt spitter try using DRY Corn Starch on the matts. They will brush right out then bathe.

Seems like common sense, huh, but these days, it's off the table. Thank you for that bit of advice, fellow lover of dogs.
Great proof of doing what needs to be done!

I thought water made the mats more compacted. Im studying a grooming course and have a lot of doubts 😅
I know there’s a lot of confusion surrounding this topic. Water doesn’t cause mats, lack of brushing and removing dead hair is what causes mats.
@@GoGroomerBut that's not what they said. They said they thought water made mats more compact, not that they caused them...
@@holleyelizabeth4557it’s actually the dog rubbing itself dry that tightens the mats not the water itself
The dog is bathed and towel dried... not soaking wet. His coat was conditioned, which helps loosen the hairs and helps remove the mats.
I read it’s when you use a dryer (instead of towel drying) that tightens the mats.

I'm confused. What about the rule "brush the dog hair before the bath, in the bath and after the bath"

No problem!!
Takes forever. Do you hurt your thumb?

This is the method I use to care for my wavy-coated shih tzu also. My silky-coated shih tzu doesn’t have this issue.
The title is a bit misleading… this tool removes dead hair, not a way to demat. Actual matting requires different methods to remove😊
I’m not sure why you think this. You can clearly see i am dematting the ears. They were matted.
@@GoGroomer it’s just not what I consider matting. That’s more “tangled”

Also if you do not have that thing wet the hair, put conditioner massage and combe
Of course.
I thought washing mats make them worse and tangles them more??
I thought wetting your dog first makes the mats worse?
Conditioner helps you be able to brush them out.
Why not remove the dead hair and mats before the bath? I've never heard of bathing before ruff in.
What kind of conditioner do you like to use?
Where can I get that brush
Do you use the prima still or occasionally? The encore?
Both

we were told by our groomers to NEVER give our Doodle a bath when he has matted hair. They said it will only make the Matting worse. 🥹
Your groomer means: if you bath a dog and don’t address the matting-yes, it will become more matted.
@@GoGroomer Thank you🥲
Comb the ears but shave the dog and save everyone a whole lot of troubles
Shouldn't one use the tool before bathing since getting matts wet and then drying them only tightens them?
The coat is pliable with the conditioner. These mats were workable. Your dog may be beyond this condition. Shaving the mats would be the next step.
I use a steel comb but wondered if useful to buy that for my Shih Tzu pup too- mention its name.
Mars coat king

Why towel dry?? I blow dry on low n brush my dog’s hair. I also brush daily for maintenance.
What about the body😢 where you can not keep from pulling😢😢😢😢
Avoid it. I only use this method on the ears and tail if they are full and long. Even in those areas I am very careful not to harm the skin.
What do you do if you're dealing with a dog that won't allow you to work with their ears?
I found CBD treats about an hour before have helped relax them
I’m what most would consider an AA woman & this is how our hair is. Just a little hint to those who have biracial children or friends. ❤😊
That’s a deshedding tool
Yes, but I only use it for matting.

Start at the bottom then work your way to the top...... it tangles less
I'm sorry but shouldn't you deshed/dematt dirty? So this way you don't damage the guard hair?
Should you rake & card? Or just do one or the other? My american cocker spaniel is 8 months old.
I'm trying to copy the link to find it on Amazon. Does anyone know how to find it?

My great pyrenees has matted hair up against her skin from where her collar lays. How do I get that out?
Watch my videos on de-shedding. Brushing the impacted undercoat out in the tub during the conditioning step before rinsing.

❤ thankyou. She really isn’t doing that correctly or considering the how painful of a process it is to demat the dogs
Where can I get this tool?
I had a client w an eskimo dog and wanted it shaved I said no and refused I'd rather lose out on money then destroy a coat
Hi, any suggestions for if the dog keeps trying to bite you whilst doing this? 😅
You could be using the wrong method and it may be hurting him😢 or the matting is beyond saving.

Where do you get this tool At I have A Aussie Doodle I Always have to cut the Matt's out?
If owners would JUST brush their dogs daily this would not happen. If a person cannot groom dogs then adopt one with straight short hair.
I was doing that ALL WRONG 🫣
It's a Groodle! not a golden doodle, a doodle is a man's 🍌
