@@dino.nuggies2382 Uhm, Swan has more clarity, better coordination and placement. Her support is usually more solid, especially when phrasing around Bb4. Swan issues are that she has stylistic tongue tension and airness, but that doesnt really prevents her from supporting, especially czz those issues are not consistent in her singing. Imo her actual biggest weakness is sustaining notes, she is much better when she she is phrasing, especially above G#4/A4, but i mean, same goes for Chaein, who actually has more issues with nasality and pitch accuracy. They r both high W to A, but id give Swan the edge
I am pleasantly surprised as well. She is my bias and I always thought I just enjoyed her tone but maybe I also prefer the members with better technique since they usually sound less pleasant and more controlled.

Kinda went crazy during Nmixx's O.O stage for the Music Bank Half Year Special, esp how Haewon sang her "Let me be your superhero" line. I think she has the best vibrato in Nmixx, its healthy and rhythmic.
the rehearsal of coachella still the best one for me, it's the cleanest and most stable. still can hear shakiness on her A4 but sliding up to B4 she sounds okay, mostly bc of her dancing and the nerves might have a cause on her shakiness but eitherway she still sounds great.
Ah so this is how Chaein sounds like. I heard one of PK’s covers to analyze Goeun and I heard her showing some degree of support here & there, it’s nice to see a compilation with the notes on them for a clearer view. I must say though I wouldn’t agree with putting her over Swan 😅 these clips doesn’t really tell me that’s the case, Swan still has a more developed grasp of support so her mid-range is smoother and more developed anyhow, she’s just quite stylistic so it’s harder to notice. ruclips.net/video/GfDaWafOM_Y/видео.html she’s singing through G#4’s and it’s still a more relaxed approach but with cleaner tonality imo, it’s consistent throughout the performance as well, she just doesn’t really attempt to belt it out more or go bolder as Chaein as she keeps it narrow and light but it’s still a more refined sound anyhow, you kinda notice it with some of the inflections she puts out as well. I think I recall Swan having rather weak lows so Chaein probably gets some advantage but Swan’s upper register isn’t too bad, I’d say she has some degree of support/at least better development up there, and she still manages a smoother more connected sound above B3 as well so it still takes precedence imo. I can confirm theyre singing live at the sametime most of their performances are just dubbed. Black Mamba: live, I kinda hear them but theyre singing over the back track. Tho Ningning's belt is so loud!!! NL/Savage: i can hear them in next level but then again backtrack is so loud, Savage is clearly dubbed😶 Lucid dream: pure live, but ugh can they turn up the mics! Illusion: its dubbed, but damn the CHOREO IS FIRE! Life's too short: 100% LIVE PERODT.
When OP added Chaein to the charts for a moment (and then deleted it right afterwards), I knew who was going to be in the next updates tbh. 😂I don't stan Purple Kiss (ironic considering my history with RBW groups especially MAMAMOO and ONEUS lol), but she really doesn't sound that shallow (still a bit more shallow than your average IMO, but not as shallow as someone like Bora, as from the later part of the video, or Lia) lol. I know it's not that feasible to compare vocalists of different sexes and types, but I would put her above her label-mate ONEUS Keonhee (who is also at W-A but the low-mid part too)...oh wow, Purple Kiss may not be a standout vocal line in the 4th gen, but on average, if we take the top 3 vocalists in ONEUS (Seoho, Keonhee, and Leedo (who's not a main or in the official vocal line, but acts more like a lead vocalist in the group tbh)) and the 3 main vocalists of Purple Kiss, Purple Kiss would be stronger on average (Goeun > Seoho > Chaein (approx.) > Keonhee > Swan > Leedo). As for Bora, she sounds quite...shallow tbh. I did not like any of her mixed moments shown in the video if I'm going to be really honest, but the lower notes sound okay and decent enough ig (there's a bit of chest voice going on for the lows) though still somewhat shallow. Tbah, I'm quite hesitant to put her above IVE Liz, who is my lowest W-A for female idols so far, or even LOONA Yves and ITZY Lia who are the high W's tbh. She's like a female version of Haechan, who is part of my highest non-fringe weak along with Suho, tbh in terms of voice and skill (high non-fringe W) lmao. Of course SM should let them sing but from that one Coachella performance alone people should know that overall Aespa is more balanced vocally like you were saying. D5s do sound they carry support not surprising she did show she could support them in her debut teaser clip, black mamba D5s, and Illusion D5. Still inconsistent but seems to be getting more consistent as time goes by

Speaking about Purple Kiss, here are the current rankings with their 4th gen BG counterpart, ONEUS: 1. Goeun (high average?) 2. Seoho (low average; Seoho’s chest (TA) engagement/coordination is weak/underdeveloped or at the very least, neglected/underutilized due to stylistic choices and he doesn’t sound as full as Goeun esp in the mid-range (correct me if I’m wrong about Goeun since I’m not too familiar with her other than the fact she’s better than Seoho lol) since he frequently sings too lightly; lows are inconsistent too) 3. Chaein (mid-high weak-to-average) 4. Keonhee/Swan (Keonhee is either low-mid or low weak-to-average (I’m leaning more to low tbh) since he can be pretty shallow quite frequently with rare fuller moments when he’s not too much in his nose (eg the Weekly Idol episode with ATEEZ); Swan, with further investigation can edge Keonhee out tbh if the tongue tension doesn’t hinder her too much since she doesn’t sound as shallow and also fuller esp in mid-range as well from what I have seen from her lol) 5. Leedo (underdeveloped/fringe weak/non-vocalist tier-very shallow and inconsistent support) ***EDIT: if anyone wants to know ONEUS members' supported ranges (for the ones who support lol): -Seoho: F3 - F4/F#4 (once again, Seoho's lows are inconsistent to me (weirdly enough, I even know (approx.) might be controversial.. but this is j my personal opinion, truly believe ningning IS the main slayer of aespa. But winter's live singing though... she may not be a better technical vocalist than ningning but her live singing!! she sound the most stable imo, she can get pitchy here and there but still sounds stable for the most part especially while singing AND dancing. Ningning's nerves might still be affecting her live performances, still can hear ningning holding back with doing her high notes but oh winter goes all out!!

If Dosie and Jieun have shallow support then both Class:y and Purple Kiss have 5 out of 7 with some sense of support. The fourth generation is not as doomed as they said!

Hmm they don’t sound too bad there, thanks for bringing it up. They also went on MBC Karaoke and it was around that level for both too if you’re interested. nah bora had some consistent support, both yves and lia are quite inconsistent even within their mid range (lia especially is barely consistent at all), thing is bora doesn’t mind go full nasal but her cords are not that weak
I follow purple kiss since predebut so when I found out that their vocal line wasn't that good I was disappointed. But now seeing that they have two average vocalists and two weak vocalists they seem pretty decent, on par or even better than weeekly maybe

Uhm, Swan has more clarity, better coordination and placement.
Her support is usually more solid, especially when phrasing around Bb4.
Swan issues are that she has stylistic tongue tension and airness, but that doesnt really prevents her from supporting, especially czz those issues are not consistent in her singing.
Imo her actual biggest weakness is sustaining notes, she is much better when she she is phrasing, especially above G#4/A4, but i mean, same goes for Chaein, who actually has more issues with nasality and pitch accuracy.
They r both high W to A, but id give Swan the edge

I am pleasantly surprised as well. She is my bias and I always thought I just enjoyed her tone but maybe I also prefer the members with better technique since they usually sound less pleasant and more controlled.

the rehearsal of coachella still the best one for me, it's the cleanest and most stable. still can hear shakiness on her A4 but sliding up to B4 she sounds okay, mostly bc of her dancing and the nerves might have a cause on her shakiness but eitherway she still sounds great.

Ah so this is how Chaein sounds like. I heard one of PK’s covers to analyze Goeun and I heard her showing some degree of support here & there, it’s nice to see a compilation with the notes on them for a clearer view. I must say though I wouldn’t agree with putting her over Swan 😅 these clips doesn’t really tell me that’s the case, Swan still has a more developed grasp of support so her mid-range is smoother and more developed anyhow, she’s just quite stylistic so it’s harder to notice.

I think I recall Swan having rather weak lows so Chaein probably gets some advantage but Swan’s upper register isn’t too bad, I’d say she has some degree of support/at least better development up there, and she still manages a smoother more connected sound above B3 as well so it still takes precedence imo.

When OP added Chaein to the charts for a moment (and then deleted it right afterwards), I knew who was going to be in the next updates tbh. 😂I don't stan Purple Kiss (ironic considering my history with RBW groups especially MAMAMOO and ONEUS lol), but she really doesn't sound that shallow (still a bit more shallow than your average IMO, but not as shallow as someone like Bora, as from the later part of the video, or Lia) lol. I know it's not that feasible to compare vocalists of different sexes and types, but I would put her above her label-mate ONEUS Keonhee (who is also at W-A but the low-mid part too)...oh wow, Purple Kiss may not be a standout vocal line in the 4th gen, but on average, if we take the top 3 vocalists in ONEUS (Seoho, Keonhee, and Leedo (who's not a main or in the official vocal line, but acts more like a lead vocalist in the group tbh)) and the 3 main vocalists of Purple Kiss, Purple Kiss would be stronger on average (Goeun > Seoho > Chaein (approx.) > Keonhee > Swan > Leedo).
As for Bora, she sounds quite...shallow tbh. I did not like any of her mixed moments shown in the video if I'm going to be really honest, but the lower notes sound okay and decent enough ig (there's a bit of chest voice going on for the lows) though still somewhat shallow. Tbah, I'm quite hesitant to put her above IVE Liz, who is my lowest W-A for female idols so far, or even LOONA Yves and ITZY Lia who are the high W's tbh. She's like a female version of Haechan, who is part of my highest non-fringe weak along with Suho, tbh in terms of voice and skill (high non-fringe W) lmao.
Also, kind-of off-topic (but not really since it's Purple Kiss), but I do kind of hear the Hwasa influence in Swan's voice tbh (pls don't kill me lmao) just like Wheein on Seoho and Solar on Keonhee (ah what happens when you're under the same label lmao).

Speaking about Purple Kiss, here are the current rankings with their 4th gen BG counterpart, ONEUS:
1. Goeun (high average?)
2. Seoho (low average; Seoho’s chest (TA) engagement/coordination is weak/underdeveloped or at the very least, neglected/underutilized due to stylistic choices and he doesn’t sound as full as Goeun esp in the mid-range (correct me if I’m wrong about Goeun since I’m not too familiar with her other than the fact she’s better than Seoho lol) since he frequently sings too lightly; lows are inconsistent too)
3. Chaein (mid-high weak-to-average)
4. Keonhee/Swan (Keonhee is either low-mid or low weak-to-average (I’m leaning more to low tbh) since he can be pretty shallow quite frequently with rare fuller moments when he’s not too much in his nose (eg the Weekly Idol episode with ATEEZ); Swan, with further investigation can edge Keonhee out tbh if the tongue tension doesn’t hinder her too much since she doesn’t sound as shallow and also fuller esp in mid-range as well from what I have seen from her lol)
5. Leedo (underdeveloped/fringe weak/non-vocalist tier-very shallow and inconsistent support)

Among the top? Definitely, considering how floppy 4th gen BGs are now.

might be controversial.. but this is j my personal opinion, truly believe ningning IS the main slayer of aespa. But winter's live singing though... she may not be a better technical vocalist than ningning but her live singing!! she sound the most stable imo, she can get pitchy here and there but still sounds stable for the most part especially while singing AND dancing. Ningning's nerves might still be affecting her live performances, still can hear ningning holding back with doing her high notes but oh winter goes all out!!

Hmm they don’t sound too bad there, thanks for bringing it up. They also went on MBC Karaoke and it was around that level for both too if you’re interested. Overall, i think they’re both benefiting from the echo in the first place but they also got a problem with consistency, Haeyoon does have alright B4s and a not-so flimsy mid range but they both, i’m sure you noted that, are VERY nasal belters and it’s the very straight into the nose kind of nasality.

nah bora had some consistent support, both yves and lia are quite inconsistent even within their mid range (lia especially is barely consistent at all), thing is bora doesn’t mind go full nasal but her cords are not that weak

If I'm going to be honest, I have always been so confused with Swan's placement in the rankings. Aside from the tongue tension, which is her biggest issue, she doesn't sound as shallow as the other weak/shallow residents (like Lia and Bora) to be actually honest...it's just the tongue tension that obstructs her quality of support. She literally screams a female version of BTS V lmao.

Ngl but bora is more of a high high w than a low w a, she's becoming inconsistent with her support and is rather throaty and tight than relaxed.

Why does all former YG is better vocalist than YGA itself lol? Chaein, Miyeon, and Denise are better than Rosé. Explain a lot about how bad their vocal training. Or maybe it's true that YG favor timbre over technique. Reminds me at how he choose Jeongwoo over Yedam in YGTB back then. Yedam is weak but at least he still have some shallow support present and sounds more pleasing. Meanwhile Jeongwoo is kinda throaty(?) from what i've heard from him, he sings like Jisoo imo. Really hope Rosé improve her support and consistensy in next comeback and move up to average tier because that's like a bare minimum to be a main vocalist, but i think it's really impossible

@Baylon Nikko it is very possible that the company was wrong when making positions though. Sometimes I am biased since I prefer Zin’s tone to Choyeon’s and that isn’t an indication of technique. I’m curious to hear a third opinion though.
