Geez your script writing is so so good. And your presentation is phenomenal. Rough on Twice. Especially implying that Misamo is being dragged down by OT9. But thumbs up, all the way around. You got yourself an avid subscriber.
Canno't agree more with tripleS, they are really setting the bar high, the level of production in their songs and albums is just incredible. You can really tell how much their producers LOVE music, because they don't just put the effort in one song which could be the title track, but they do it in every single song in their albums, their music is so unique and fascinating. During the tierlist you put the instrumental of "Untitled" as background music, and let me tell you, that's, in my opinion, the best JP release of this year. I LOVE that song! I have to correct you about something you said about MEOVV, they perfomed at the MAMA Awards not at the MMA, and also they performed "Meow + Body" and not "Toxic" unfortunatly (it's my fave song from them, for now) 🥲
i loved this so much :D the way you dissect and digest kpop is so similar to me id love to see more from you!! also jennie kim is just the cherry on top
Hey, Happy New Year! Subscribing now! Thank you for sharing your tier list. I mostly agree with ya! This was an explosive year for many of the gg groups releasing really great songs! I'm very happy for AESPA. Their Armaggedon album was a solid one! In addition, as a MIZDY fan, I'm happy Lia is back. I really enjoyed Imaginary Friend as the song of year for Itzy. Such an impactful B-side. I also love Le Sserafim's b-sides as well. Star Signs is my fav gem from them this year. Finally, I saw IVE in concert this past year, and their releases of HEYA and Accendio were fantastic. I like how they are trying out new sounds. While I agree that their collabs were underwhelming, they had plenty of activity, which would make me think that they belonged in the solid category. Will you also consider putting other relatively new groups like UNIS and RESCENE? Kep1er has also been fairly active as they've renewed their contracts. Thank you again for the tier list. It has been one of my fav ones to watch! And I'll be checking out Illit's discography a bit more. ^_^
I totally understand, there are so many groups out there and I miss out on a lot of the underrated ones. But I will take note of that and do my best to feature them on a future video
@@JENNIEfreakinKIM Artms, Loossemble, RESCENE, Pixy, FIFTY FIFTY, Purple Kiss, Viviz, CLASS:y. And little more popular, like Everglow, Dreamcatcher, Kep1er.
illit in legendary to me is a bit too much. They music is freaking good, tic tac is very unique in the good sense. Their dance on stage and choreo are also very good, but to me to be in legedary you need to perform well live. Unfortnatly they are very raw vocally, thir dance dont match their vocal level to peform live which is hard for them, hopefully they will improve well live in 2025 but if we are talking about 2024 then thats a nono, GREAT would be my tier for illit. NewJeans i would put on great, the only thing that they lacked this year was more songs, 2 singles EPs with 4 songs total are very little but the quality of the songs and the performances to me are GREAT tier.
YASSS! Misty was also my favourite song off of MiSaMo's recent album. From the teasers, I thought it'd be my least favourite & I expected Momo's solo to be my fav, but it was the complete opposite. Mina (and Gratia) did so well on this song! I'm addicted! And I agree, MiSaMo would do very well if they had at least a year or so to concentrate on just their subunit. I wouldn't say TWICE is holding them back per se, but I feel like TWICE is such an iconic group that they can afford to do less cb now. There's literally nine members who can really hone their own individual crafts/talents with different projects... If JYPE strategically spread them out throughout the year I doubt TWICE would lose any momentum...
so glad u putted illit in legendary. they truly deserved it. i loved them last year and they deserved atleast 1 daesang as well. so excited for their future in 2025 and what kind of musical direction they go for cause im already in love with all their songs, my favs being magnetic, tick tack, cherish and lucky girl syndome. i also agree that pimple is such a good ballad. also they have been getting WAY too much hate and im so glad that didn't affect their first comeback. illit fighting!
I thought the MV for Heya was a visual masterpiece, and I find myself watching Crush on almost a daily basis. But the rest of IVE's work in 2024 was a little disappointing.
I found most of your commentary pretty interesting and agree with the general level in most cases. I don't think 'legendary' is the right term for your S tier if you're going to include three rookie groups, however. The term itself implies some longevity. They did have great years, but I think only aespa added that great year to enough past success to claim the 'legendary' title. It's especially inconsistent since you're putting Badvillain in the bad category based on so little content. In fact, I'd consider putting Red Velvet in Legendary because they've got the history and added a great album to it. As ITZY is my ult group, I appreciate you seeing them for what they're doing right now. I think if they build on 'Imaginary Friend,' 2025 will be a legendary year for them.
@@danjeffers I’ve created a “Legendary” tier because these groups had a standout year that will be a highlight of their careers. aespa won so many awards and released some of their best work all year long. ILLIT’s mega hit debut song “Magnetic.” Baemon exceeded expectations with their exceptional talent, and KIOF delivered powerful comebacks throughout the year. Badvillain’s execution fell short, whereas MEOVV (despite having fewer songs) demonstrated superior execution and overall quality. And I think their streaming numbers reflect that. That’s why I placed them in different tiers.
i think this tier list is based on the groups' overall performances in 2024 specifically, so past success and history aren't considered. this is actually a great way of analyzing kpop imo since the scene shifts so much just within a few months' time.
@@yxl72 Well, projecting upwards from 'Great," maybe GOAT, transcendant, masterpiece, career year. Of course this is why I don't get invited to parties...
This is going to be a great year for kpop, especially for US tours. Already I have tickets to aespa this month and BaeMon next month. I had to make the tough choice between Fifty Fifty and Kiss of Life as they were playing the same night in December and since I liked Love Tune so much I went with Fifty, but hopefully I can catch KIOF next tour. I sadly doubt we are getting a NWJNS tour any time soon, but my fingers are crossed for ILLIT, LSF, and Twice to come through the second half of the year.
@@GeorgeGabriel-i3v Yesss I totally agree! And that’s awesome, I’m also going to see Aespa but next month, it’s my first K-Pop concert, and I might even see tripleS as well🙂
Very good tierlist! As a (G)I-dle and aespa stan I especially agree with where you put them. I loved (G)-Idle's 2nd album so much, they had quite some bangers, but other than that I found the rest of the year pretty underwhelming from them. Klaxon is a bop, a nice summer song, but wouldn't rank it anywhere near my top songs from them. And aespa, yeah. They absolutely cleared this year, miles ahead of the competition. 100% deserved Also, if you had to rank Dreamcatcher, where would you put them?
@@JENNIEfreakinKIM looking forward to it! 😊 They have a kinda rocky vibe to their songs which I really like. To recommend a few: Boca, Scream, Deja Vu, Maison, Odd Eye, 2 Rings, and what you must definitely check out is JUSTICE which might just be one of the best kpop releases of all time
As a kissy I am so happy for Kiss of Life journey so far and delighted for the recognition you have for them. I cannot wait to see their next releases because the music and performances they have been serving us so far is such a breath of fresh air. Loving their music direction!!
I’d probably switch Meovv with (G)-idle cause I feel there just wasn’t enough time for them to shine and I feel like there was actually more dislike regarding the music the black label gave them last year. Other than that, accurate ranking!
im babymonster fan but im agree aespa is legendary they deserve to be top babymonster and aespa wins 2024 and im exicited to this two group to continue to fame this year
I only disagree with you on 5th gen. None of the other groups are even close to BabyMonster. Illit had a hit with Magnetic, but everything else they have done is just forgettable and that sums up all the 5th gen groups so far, they have a hit, but then don't do better or on par with it. Only BabyMonster has gotten better as they move on. Also, awards in Asia don't really mean much, since everyone knows they are rigged and bought & paid for. I mean BlackPink has never won a Daesang award, even though they've been the best gg and had the best songs since 2016.
I think your legendary category is out of whack but it is your choices. LSF and I’ve so low is crazy. As for groups like fifty fifty and Katseye not on your list is crazier. 👎👎

Let's say, hypothetically, that MiSaMo did leave Twice, wouldn't that make MiSaMo a Jpop group, instead of Kpop?
