David Sedano Anytime brother. I think someone mentioned it in another comment, but Eidola is another great post-hardcore/metalcore ish technical band worth checking out. Andrew wells, the lead vocalist for Eidola, is featured on one of the songs on this album, and he also plays guitar for dgd on tour. Very worth listening to their stuff if you feel like it

And over 150 subs, this entire week has been a gallon of dopamine dumped on me lol but seriously thank you so much I couldn't stress that enough.
HOLY SHIT!! I have been trying to find a way to describe them since hearing this album, thank you!! Pure controlled chaos is absolutely what I'm gonna name my next review of theirs! Thank you lol
David Sedano they have had 3 lead singers over the course of their history (who are all very talented). I would suggest working backwards since you’re still new to the band.
I got hooked on this band in 07 and through all the vocalist and member changes they have remained my favorite band. Welcome to the rabbit hole man! Check all their stuff out. My name "Carve" is a reference to their song carve, im sure you'd enjoy it.
Found this looking for DGD reactions. So glad I can see people bout my age get into this stuff for the first time. If you dig this shit, just wait til you hear their previous singer! Beautiful landscape to look at while watching, as well.
Discography reaction will be coming up in a few weeks and I'm beyond excited to see what the previous singers brought to the table too, this is the only album I've heard and trust me I already know this band couldn't write a bad track if they tried. And thank you, maybe this next review I'll drive up through the canyon for more scenery 😉
i study quantum and high energy particle physics for fun and i still cant figure out how they transition from light to heavy so perfectly, i love DGD alot and i cant really say that for alot of artists. Also they just flexed so hard on the music industry as a whole IMO they got a little bit of everything in their songs it still baffles me to this day on how the hell they can make everything flow so damn good.
You're doing the Lord's work my friend. Seriously though it's next level, I'm a huge fan of August Burns Red and especially the transitions in Found In Far Away Places but these transitions are next level
Love your reactions, feels like I can groove along with you while I'm watching. DGD is my all time favorite band, so I can say with confidence that Afterburner is probably their most experimental album, and definitely one of their absolute best. DGD never fucking fails to deliver, I can't name a single song of theirs that I would consider even close to bad. All of their songs are top notch. Look up videos of them live, if you can. Even on a stage, they will blow your entire mind and soul.
I'm glad I've got some people to groove along with me then 😁 and I actually have watched a couple live videos now and all I want is to see them live I can't even fathom that energy
14:56 That's exactly what I said the first time I heard it!! Also, you HAVE to listen to Evaporate from Artificial Selection, it also features Andrew Wells from Nothing Shameful (Track 12 on this album) and it is probably their most epic song. Loved your reaction bro, it takes me back to my first listen. Keep it up!
Bro no! If anything that has to be the last song he listens to. The nostalgia you'll get from hearing the history that emanates from that song is euphoric.
Much appreciated bro!! I just uploaded acceptance speech and now just based on what everyone has flooded me with I have to save Artificial Selection for last lol
Eyyy what u know bout that 68 lol! It's super refreshing to see a new DGD fan. I jumped on board when tilian joined them. His timbre just fits perfectly in DGD. Glad you were just as mind blown as I was when it dropped haha! Cheers mate!

Comments like this seriously make my entire weekend and I just ride the high until the next review lol thanks so much bro! Next week I'll be doing DBM and Tillians solo stuff. Thanks so much for the love 😊
Definitely recommend listening to them live. Their energy is insane along with the crowds I've been in with at their shows match them. They sound phenomenal live as well
That comparison to Josh Scogin on Say Hi was so spot on. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing your reaction to their older albums, these guys have a hell of a discography.
Thank you so much! I'll be getting to more of their albums next week! In the meantime let me know of any other artists you want me to check out! Doesn't matter the genre, I got you
These guys are insane live. Seen em' twice now and they all are spot on and I have no idea how. The fanbase nerds out about this band a lot, myself included. Having three spectacular clean vocalists causes a ton of debates and a little hostility here and there, but besides that the whole scene is pretty chill. Not gonna overwhelm you too much but once you get hooked to their discog, the guitarist has a label full of spectacular bands in the same sub-genre. The guitarist (Will Swan) sort of birthed the scene (even though he had his artist influences as well, he really pushed the style forward) and thus the sub-genre is referred to as Swancore. One of those bands to add to the list to check out would be Eidola (the touring guitarist for DGD and feature on the song Nothing Shameful; Andrew Wells is the guitarist and vocalist for them) They are a little more serious in tone and a little more technical and prog-rocky.
Oh my guy please overwhelm me and nerd out over everything you can lol once I discover a new band I go full out on learning anything and everything I can about them. I'm excited for you guys to see my reactions to their other material also. I'll definitely be checking out that band and other bands on that label without a doubt! Thank you!
@@DavidSedano subbed for sure looking forward to it. There's a lot to dive into. Definitely take your time with it though, I sorta binged on the genre and I ended up liking a lot of stuff less than I do now after going back through years later. He actually has some really good screams as well. If you like the heavier moments then you'll REALLY like Secret Band. No spoilers or anything ahead: You're gonna hear a lot of differing opinions. I don't want you to hear a bunch of the crazier/biased ones first and think they are the general opinions of the fanbase. It's best to be completely blind to opinions, but since you're gonna get comments that's sort of impossible so I'm gonna try to give a very unbiased, moderate, accumulation of what people's thoughts are. As far as vocalists go: people love Johnny (the first one) for his soulfulness and little articulations and runs he does within his range. People dislike him for his personality (honestly don't spend too much time on that... The facts are that he has a recurring drug problem and at one point scammed some fans, the rest is allegations (a lot of them, but still just allegations, so I suggest just leaving that at that) Kurt (second vocalist) people love for the lyrics and catchiness. His actual range and on paper vocal talent is usually considered the worst of the three, but still great. His ability to write a chorus that has super weird cadences and notes and still be catchy/funky is his best trait. The lyrics have quite a few detractors as well, some are a bit weird and edgy, I personally like them, but see why others think that. Tilian is the current vocalist. He's been with them for a bit and took the band a poppier route with the cleans (meanwhile Jon took the vocals heavier at the same time in my opinion so it balances out really well). Definitely has the high-end range and sometimes screamy-cleans that people love (and some people don't). He hasn't been in any scandals or anything, but has had some hot political takes that have had a few fans upset (nothing insane or extremist, just not the general take on things) Overall people are pretty content with him as the current vocalist (besides a few jonny die-hards that really want him back even though it's not happening) As far as screams Jon was there in the beginning but sounded drastically different. He was using a different scream technique at the time. Around the second album with Kurt he developed Lyme's disease and couldn't do the screaming so Will (the guitarist) took the spot (and did a pretty good job too). Jon came back on the following album along with Jonny Craig to replace Kurt and started shifting his vocal style to what it is now, and remained with them since.
Will the guitarist and Matt the drummer have been there from the start. The bassist changed a few times early on, but Tim is the current one and has been with them for a bit now. They have had several rythym guitarists for varying lengths of time. The big ones being Zac Garren who was with them for a bit and most notably the Kurt album Happiness (and was featured on this album uncredited on a few songs) and the current one Andrew Wells.

dance gavin dance is a band that you don't really vibe when you first listened to it. It takes a couple more time to just understand their complexity. But once you get hooked into them prepare for a roller coaster ride.
This video is so blessed, I had such a good time watching you have such a good time lol, been in love with these guys since like 2008 or so in highschool and it's so good to see more people getting into them.
One of my favorite albums of theirs if not my favorite. Also just someone even mentioning The Mars Volta makes me happy, and I thought the same thing when i first heard that song.
David Sedano if you wanna listen to some thing real crazy and kinda In the same vein of TMV listen to Thank You Scientist record Terraformer. If you haven’t listed to them before your in for a treat lol
Fun fact: The band has stated that they find their songs difficult to play live but they do their damnest to make it sound as good as they can, on the other hand a band like dragonforce sometimes slow their songs down live. Which is a better live band.....obviously DGD
David Sedano Saw them back in August last year when they were doing the Artificial Selection Fall Tour and they were fucking amazing. They were with Hail The Sun, Periphery, Covet and Don Broco. You’ll really have a blast man!
This is my first album to hear also cant stop.listening to it everyday over and over. I put on the list young robot and headhunter apart of this album lolz. Mothership is ok but never grabs me like this afterburner album!!!!
Lmao great review, amazing band. I hope you listen to their full discography, their older stuff is less poppy for sure, but will always be my favorite. New singer Tilian definitely brings a different groove to the band, his discography with the band is terrific.
David Sedano they go through 3 singers Johnny Craig, Kurt Travis and Tillian, which everyone loves the tillian era (current singer) the best also no need I already made sure to hit the sub and bell icon 😎😎
I love how you just do your own thing in your car! The BEAT way to enjoy music 🎵 Shame I’m not in Salt Lake any more, I’d love to hit up a show with you! You’ve got that GOOD energy my guy 🤙🏻
Well fucking A if that isn't the compliment of the year thank you so much! I'll finally be home to do more reviews at the end of the month. If you're ever in town hit me up for a drink or 2 ☺️
You should review Eidola. Andrew Wells who did the feature on Nothing Shameful is the lead singer. To Speak, To Listen is a great album. Welcome to the DGD family.
I have a hunch that you would really like the band Between The Buried And Me. I recommend their album Parallax II. Tbh I didn't expect much from a review in a car, but I surprisingly really like the format, and your editing is good I think. I also have very emotional reactions to music, so this was a joy to watch. I'm glad you're liking DGD and I look forward to you reacting to their discography.
Thank you! I know it's not necessarily everyone's thing but I never get into my music as I do when I'm driving alone so I said why not go with it lol also I love between the buried and me I've always thought of them as a heavier dream theater. @@DavidSedano I'd love to see you react to Erra's albums! Drift or Augment are fantastic. Certainly y favorite band, at this moment in time!
@@TheMetalTempestYT consider it done bro!
J Morris the Review Guy same here 😂😂 I was expecting him to be wearing it!
Very entertaining watching you vibe out to this album. I think you made me appreciate it more actually
That's the goal 😁
Congrats on discovering DGD!! Welcome to the family my friend!
This is absolutely the most welcoming fan base I've ever encountered lol thank you!
David Sedano I think we all appreciate how much of an acquired taste DGD is so when someone new vibes with them, it’s such an awesome feeling lol
I really enjoyed this reaction ^^
Literally all I am here for! Feel free to throw any other artist suggestions my way!
I fucking love this video! Watching people get into a good band is always something that makes my day. "Instant gratification" is my favorite album. What a badass concept for a review channel! Subscribe has been smashed to heck
Ndndnekeosj I don't know how to respond to that other than a million thanks broseph!! It's taking me a minute to get up to speed with everything but Instant Gratification will be coming soon and I'll dedicate it to you 😁😉
Ive been a longtime dance gavin dance fan and this is the single album that i cried first time listening because it was so beautiful
I was insanely emotional towards the end fam. I feel that
David my man I watched this way back when you first released it and I was emotionally tied in with you the whole time. DGD is top tier like you said, you do have that GREAT energy I'd rock out with you any day. I came back just to watch this whole video with you again, experience it with you again and sub because my dumb ass forgot to sub lmao. Hope you're fairing well during these hard times.
My guy thank you so much for that comment it made my entire day! Glad you're enjoying the content and thank you for subbing! I'll be reviewing the new Architects album today which I'm majorly hyped for and back to some DGD next week :)
@@DavidSedano I definitely have a few recommendations! But I don't want to waste your time unless you're genuinely interested. HMU if you are! I am fairly certain you won't be disappointed!
Homie I've been doing nonstop training for the army lately and trying to get caught up on comments, please please please by all means send me some jams! I'm 100% genuinely interested 😊
dance gavin dance is a band that you don't really vibe when you first listened to it. It takes a couple more time to just understand their complexity. But once you get hooked into them prepare for a roller coaster ride.
Glad to see a fellow DGD fan is also a fan of Empty Faces! Happy to see your utter enjoyment!
Happy to provide some entertainment :)
Welcome to the experience my friend!
Sending love from the Philippines! 💜🤘
Thank you brother!! Much appreciated 😊😊
@@DavidSedano Subbed you! Looking forward to more DGD Reactions. Cheers! 🙏🙏
Awesome your becoming a fan. It’s cool to look at natural reactions!! Go see them live and get into the pit!!!
I'll meet you there bro!
This video is so blessed, I had such a good time watching you have such a good time lol, been in love with these guys since like 2008 or so in highschool and it's so good to see more people getting into them.
This is such a blessed comment thank you 😊😭 I've definitely been missing out and so glad to be on board with these guys
Hell yeah the new album is so good I havent stopped listening to them
On exactly the same boat
@@DavidSedano subbed btw great review
@@kalebfitzgerald9102 thank you, seriously it means a ton! And please send any artist suggestions my way!
Welp....if you haven't already, you're about to have a blast listening to their previous albums (specifically the last 3).
Getting on that this week, I'm amped!
One of my favorite albums of theirs if not my favorite. Also just someone even mentioning The Mars Volta makes me happy, and I thought the same thing when i first heard that song.
It's got a crazy MV vibe fr and it makes me miss them something fierce 😥
David Sedano if you wanna listen to some thing real crazy and kinda In the same vein of TMV listen to Thank You Scientist record Terraformer. If you haven’t listed to them before your in for a treat lol
Fun fact: The band has stated that they find their songs difficult to play live but they do their damnest to make it sound as good as they can, on the other hand a band like dragonforce sometimes slow their songs down live. Which is a better live band.....obviously DGD
I'm honestly counting down to this virus shit being over so I can buy my tix to see them first thing
I feel that. It's probably because Afterburner is what hooked me but even after everything I've been listening to, it's still my favorite
I loved the album as well. But I wish Blood Wolf and Headhunter were on there as bonus tracks.
YAY HE LIKES DGD
*loves*
David Sedano I’m so glad their gaining popularity. They deserve it!
Had to come back for seconds, this reaction gives me life!
This comment gives me life 🖤
Same
What a great reaction video! Loved seeing this. Welcome to the fam!
Thanks for the love brother!
"What are these feelings"
Jon Mess: "You'll never get better you'll never get over it"
He wasn't wrong
Super solid video man
Super solid comment bro 😊❤️
hope you listen to their whole discography, its a rollercoaster.
In a few weeks I'm gonna review the entire discography and get that uploaded 😊
@@DavidSedano cool
Lmao great review, amazing band. I hope you listen to their full discography, their older stuff is less poppy for sure, but will always be my favorite. New singer Tilian definitely brings a different groove to the band, his discography with the band is terrific.
Trust me fam I'm on it! I'm excited to embark on this much delayed journey. Glad you enjoyed it 😊
@@DavidSedano once you do and you hear the other past singers you should check out their bands too. They've all put out pretty good music
I can’t wait to see you react to acceptance speech, instant gratification and mothership you’re mind will literally be 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
I'll personally send you the link to that review when it's up!
David Sedano they go through 3 singers Johnny Craig, Kurt Travis and Tillian, which everyone loves the tillian era (current singer) the best also no need I already made sure to hit the sub and bell icon 😎😎
I’ve watched this 5 times already waiting for the next one 😂
This is top tier love thank you so much. Been a little sick this week but the mothership review will be up tomorrow!
I'm a simple man, i see dgd, i upvote
Much appreciated 😁 more coming soon!

Subscribed for me DGD! Can't wait - this video was so fun!
That means so much thank you!! More content coming this week!!
back to this video again.
Back on the DGD reviews in a few weeks 😉
You should review Eidola. Andrew Wells who did the feature on Nothing Shameful is the lead singer. To Speak, To Listen is a great album. Welcome to the DGD family.
I gotchu!
Andrew is amazing and like us a utah person ha lol he from orem ;)
Also check out Shrezzers. They have a sax player. Super fun.
start with instant gratification or mothership first
You've got it!
@@DavidSedano Should just start from the first album and roll forward. It makes it nicer to see the progressions and changes
your energy is wicked! This video was on my front page, don't know why but also don't care! Subbed!
That makes me so happy thank you!! Got a review coming up later today!
@@DavidSedano notification bell on!

Welcome to the DGD family!! Greetings from Argentina.
Gracias hermano sudamericano 😁
Nice seeing you become a fan!! Take my sub!
I'll take your sub and raise you one hearted comment!! Thanks so much seriously though I appreciate it so much! 😊
Haven't listened to them in a minute though I'll get on that asap and dedicate that review to you 😁
100% agree one of my favorites from them. So great front to back. Also Coma Ecliptic from them as well.
Me encantan tus reacciones David! Te falta reaccionar al Artificial Selection de DGD :D
Gracias amigo! Estaré en casa en 2 semanas y por fin lo revisaré!
Hey pal loved it, bands similar once you run out of DGD; Hail the Sun, Eidola, Wolf & Bear, Royal Coda
Hey bud thank you! Definitely gonna check those bands out as well!
Secret Band and Sianvar too. Since they're basically DGD with different members. Secret Band being the heavy one, and Sianvar being the soft one.
if you think this the album is amazing there is no comparison seeing them live 5000x times better my first impression was theres no words to describe them its great that dgd is getting this recognition ive seen them every chance i get its the same everytime no matter what album there touring
I can't tell you how bad I want this virus shit to go away so I can see them live asap
Even my friends who click away songs if they have 1 scream in them love the album so much they join me on the next Dance gavin dance show 😂
AWESOME REVIEW BRO AND LOVED THE REACTIONS!!! YOU JUST EARNED A NEW SUB!!!

The best album... The vibe is so heavy and melodic!!!
That's exactly how I should've worded it! It's so good!
Dude, I’m in salt lake too 🤘🏻😄
Dude say the word I'll do a review with you!
Dude you need to do a reaction to the new album by Call It Tragedy "Turbulence". Came out the same day as DGDs records, it's really good!
I've heard of them! I'll get to it with my review next week!
It’s DGD..WILL SWAN!
WILL SWAN!!!!
WILL SWAN!!
Hahah I love them, this album is SOO GOOD
It's too good, no single album should bump this hard!
Secret band....your welcome
Ok I've listened to like 30 seconds and I'm hooked, I need to get on this asap
David Sedano you da man! Secret band is my shitttt
Check out Aftermath by The Ghost Inside
Love TGI! I'm beyond stoked to review the new album when it's out
Tool is one of the only bands I’ll give a pass for 10+ minute songs haha
I'll be reviewing their latest album in about 2 weeks 😉 them and dream theater are the only ones I give a pass too haha
@@DavidSedano I was going to say Dream Theater has had a 10 min pass for about 30 years haha
Bruh I live in Pocatello Idaho. Howdy neighbor. 😂
Howdy neighbor! Pocatello isn't that bad lol how's quarantine treating you
@@DavidSedano It's alright for what it is. We are taking it just about as light as Utah is. You know Idaho. We just wanna be cool like Utah. 😂😂😂 I'm staying home and jamming drums (which it seems like you have some drum knowledge yourself!)
@@DavidSedano I'd love to get drunk and jam DGD with a bud mext time I'm in SLC.
You mean people are basically just still living life like nothing is happening? Yeah we live in weird times lol but yes! My drumming is a bit rusty but I'm trying to get back on it and maybe put some covers up. Also next time you're down in SLC by all means hit your boy up, I'd love a new drinking buddy 😁 hopefully this all goes away soon
They have had three different clean vocalist, you will have to tell us your favorite one!
Yes absolutely!! I'll be reviewing their other albums next week and the week after and I'll give my breakdown of which I preferred which I can already tell is gonna be damn near impossible lol also feel free to shoot any album suggestions my way!
David Sedano The discography of all of swancore. Seriously, you’re missing out.
05:30 ISMFOF
God I miss them
If you think this album is perfect just wait until you get to Mothership.
This weekend!
Stick around get stuck David
Still here my dude!
Do you play drums?
Indeed I do!
David Sedano I could tell by your on point air drumming lol. DGD have some really fun songs to play. Matty Mingus (their drummer) is so groovy
you can't NOT dance like that at 1:20
I'm a man of the people
dgd is the best. they don’t make bad music
They really don't. Like I said I'll be reviewing their entire discography next and I'm so amped to see how that goes
@@DavidSedano You should know that they have had 3 different singers throughout their entire discography. Downtown Battle Mountain 1 and 2 are Johnny Craig, Happiness and Self-Titled are Kurt Travis. Acceptance Speech, Instant Gratification, Mothership, Artificial Selection and Afterburner are Tilian Pearson, their current singer. Many consider Mothership to be their best album.
Can't wait to see more!
@@wolfsblood5188 I knew Johnny was in it at one point but that's about as far as my knowledge goes as far as members. That'll definitely be good to keep in mind, most my friends are telling me this isn't even their best work which blows my mind. I'll be reviewing more of them in the next 2 weeks thank you!
@@DavidSedano It's not their best work but it's still good. I give Afterburner an 8/10 where Mothership is like an 11/10.
@@wolfsblood5188 good hell that's unfathomable right now but next week we'll see! Lol probably gonna have a warning before the video starts due to my head exploding
