Today's climbers have ladders, ropes etc to show them the best way to the top and with an army of sherpas to lug all their equipment and alcohol and coffee machines up the mountain. What Hilary and Tenzing did was extraordinary. Old fashioned equipment, dodgy oxygen masks and bottles, their ascent wasnt far off alpine style and far beyond the capability of 99% of today's Everest summiters.

Reinhold Messner for example climbed Everest in the 80s literally by himself, no Sherpa, no companion, means, he had to adjust the routes for himself.

I don’t understand the point of all of this. To endanger oneself with the possibility, they meet the untimely demise.
Life is too precious. Enjoy it while you can. There’s so much to do out there and if you have family, you have a responsibility to them as well. Don’t take unnecessary chances.
    Life is oh so precious.
