I know that’s what I am saying. In the games characters never die so they could easily bring back characters and not explain it. People might bitch but it happens in the games so they could do it.

Yeah I think thats what the lead bad guy meant when he said "death is just another portal" or something like that at the end talking to Raiden. And according to the lore and the game there's different generations of the same character. At least thats what I think and hope.

This movie was so much goddamn fun. The fights, blood, humor, and these characters being brought to life again. Brought me back to the old days of playing the games and just wrecking fools. I truly hope they do a 2nd one. I want Johnny Cage, Noob Saibot, Rain, Cyrex, Kitana, Baraka, and Shao Kahn to show up. More fights! More blood! MORTAL KOMBAAAAT!!

Yeah. Joe Taslim who plays sub zero I think got signed on to four sequels. Who knows if they ever make that much but there it a chance if this does well enough.
This movie was just ok, but I do want a trilogy. Recast Raiden & Shang Tsung, get a new director & writer.
Rain had a scene in this movie according to the script , but that scene was never shot because they didn't have the budget. The Scene goes like this... When Cole , Sonya and Kano jump out if the plane , they are in the cloud of rain, And Rain Attacks them mid air while they are free falling. This scene would've been epic , but the cost of doing all that CGI and casting Rain would've been a lot

The RUclips series had a budget of $7,500 and was considerably better in my opinion. This movie barely surpassed its budget, far from amazing, more like...eh
When Liu Kang was training with Kano, my cousin used to cheat by using that leg sweep to win when we used to play the game
My brother used to do that to my cousin. I used to laugh hard. That scene made me feel like a kiddo again.

I never thought i can tear up at a martial art movie when hanzo was crawling to his baby...hiro sanada as scorpion just so perfect. He needs more screen time. Joe taslim as sub zero just savage...he dnt want to speak japanese to hanzo cause he gonna kill him anyway, he was just playing with jax, too easy...he needs his own movie or a scorpion vs sub zero movie. Bad guys, kabal and milena deserved more screen time. This movie should hv been 2 hours at least. The final scene when scorpion appeared..best scene ever. I loved it.
I love the castings, they did not look cheesy or cosplay what so ever. Everything was so authentic and even when scorpion spoke. Like how the kept it subtitle for both guys.
Scorpion and Subzero were the heart of this movie and good god they brought the house down. If they ever did a spin-off for those two, I’d totally be down for that

thats whats annoying..they didn't hype this as a prequel...The trailers gave it a diff feel, like we were gonna get Scorpion's Revenge or something(which is a badass movie) so to find that out mid way / towards the end was a bit disappointing is all
@@Karl_Drogo55 that’s your fault my guy the director stated it wasn’t going to be that very early.. You played yourself 😭 It was marketed as a Scorpion vs Sub-Zero but if you did research for preparation for the film you’d know it was aiming to be just a prequel to the tournament.

Joe Taslim (Subzero) said he's signed on for 4 sequels and MK is #1 rn soooo its lookin good 👏
it's kinda weird because MK9 kinda fucked up everyone's memory of Scorpion/Sub Zero's relationship in the original. Originally the two crossed paths due to Quan Chi attempting to to manipulate Bi Han into getting him the Amulet of Shinnok. (MK: Mythologies) Sub Zero kills Scorpion immediately, assuming he is there for the same prize, and being in rival clans there was no love loss. However part of the deal Bi Han made with Quan Chi was that if he was successful, Quan Chi would ensure the Shirai Ryu would be eradicated. So Bi Han was still framed for the murder of Hanzo's family and clan. But in the OG Timeline he actually only killed Hanzo Hashashi and had no idea that his children and wife would be killed as well.
Finally a reactor who enjoyed the the whole movie ....I freaking loved it and I want a sequel. I hope it happens.
There definitely will be a sequel, and I would bet on a third, only question is if there would be a fourth. MK2 can be about out world invading earthrealm, and recruiting more champions, third one about the MK tournament, there’s plenty of plot for two separate movies just there. Then for an epic fourth and possible final movie, who knows

@@domennic88 oh yes 100% I agree, I love Kitana and Johnny. The writers discussed it, but the main reason Johnny wasn’t in it was so he can get the deserved attention in a movie, otherwise in this one you can only have so many characters and so much development. So the next one will have and develop Johnny 100%, Kitana I would hope in the sequel as well since they are recruiting champions. I hope even Jade is, that would be awesome.

It's the perfect "what could be" movie they didn't go too deep into the lore but they showed us that they are capable of making a good mortal kombat film and now if they are allowed to make more those ones are going to be so lit and go deeper into the world of mortal kombat I am really excited to see more of outworld and the rest of the mortal kombat roster.
That was my thought. This was a proof of concept and a damn good one. Imagine how good it could be with the bigger budget to spend on better writers and more time to spend on choreography

This movie was fun 💯🔥 sure it wasn’t a masterpiece or great film or anything but I went in expecting it to be exactly what I got!!! And I love it!!! I honestly didn’t like kano in any of the games but goddamn he was the best part of this movie!!! Had me dying and laughing all the way!! He better come back!!!

i was with struggle soldier, it felt like they were leading up to cole being maybe an avatar or something for scorpion. Tbh i would have been cool with that too.

@Kazama I'm with you , alot of people that actually study plot devices , assumed Cole would be the avatar for scorpion . Instead Scorpion randomly just pops up for a forced showdown with Sub Zero. So where does this leave Cole? Nowhere . So yes the whole movie insinuated Coles bloodline with Scorpion but in the end it didn't mean anything.

The Scorpion possession would have been a great choice . A better idea and would have connected with the subplot. But you get a sense that this is one of those ass kissing moments where everyone is supposed to just drink the kool-aid and not mention the MANY flaws of this production.

25:50 Totally agree. I came for a punchy, fun martial arts movie with heart, and that's what I got! This movie reminded me why I miss movie theatres so much! It's enough to be thoroughly entertained with a film, and I would love to see another one.
Agree with Struggle. It would have actually been cooler if Cole did become the new Scorpion. Like if the spear connected to his armor. Could conjure the demon Scorpion even.
Just great how it's set up for so much more , this was recruitment / introduction, now to come is the tournament and fallout/invasion. Also, some big characters like Raiden and Shang Tsung, we only seen them in 2nd gear so far
Unlike other channels that shit on this movie you guys are very positive! I like that and the movie surely could have been better , maybe if they focused on Sub Zero-Scorpion story the whole movie then adding other characters slowly building up into the sequel.

Kano stole every scene that he was on. Great actor. And to be upset about Kung Lao's death, to me, we already knew he had to die. Every Mortal Kombat has that story line. But just to see it, gave it an impact. And I read that the Subzero character confirmed he is signed to 5 movies. This is the ground, it set up other movies.
So it’s true there’s actually 4 more Mortal Kombat movies 🔥🔥🙏🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Hopefully one of those will be the full story of Lin Kuei & Shirai Ryu 💪🏽 (probably spelt those names wrong)

The first fight was the best fight of the movie but the Hollywood editing made it worse if only they would let a Asian style filmmaker do this
Gareth Evans (The Raid 1&2) or Timo Tjahjanto (Headshot, The Night Comes for Us) take on MK would’ve made this look like a Saturday morning cartoon.
People are just hyping it up because its MK, that doesn’t work for me, i need good editing and choreography.
They had like 7 close up quick cuts for 3 punches being thrown. 😂
They even made Joe Taslim seem like basic fighter due to making him slow down for their poor editing and choreography.
Most in the west have low standards for fighting scenes since Hollywood has been getting away with mediocrity for years.
I hope when and if we get a sequel it is 85% all the actual tournament fights.. better then I thought it would be. Solidi B summer flick and for fans of the games and shows I think they would enjoy it flaws and all.

It is a really good movie. Blood, gore, fatality, story. I just wish the fights were kind of long.
The fights weren’t long because the choreography was basic and they didn’t want to show how trash it was.
The director and choreographers had nothing and the editors tried to make it look like something, hence the quick cuts and close up shots.
I honestly loved mostly every character for how faithful they are the original game and other games

Quan Chi is rumored for one of the next 4 MortalKombat movies. Another rumor, Quan Chi was part of the 1st movie off-screen and we'll probably get more of that story flashed out in the sequel movies

Speaking as someone who only knows Mortal Combat by name I thoroughly enjoyed this movie!! I was never into this game so I had no expectations about this movie. They delivered big time, I had a good time watching. I had no idea that was Mehcad Brooks. He literally blew up!! 🤣🤣🤣
