It wasn't simply "the government"...it was a Democrat, FDR...the same Democrat who also put Japanese Americans into concentration camps using an Executive Order.
Even so they didn't ban gold, they confiscate it. Its not the same thing ! For the Government , the industry and the Banks owning gold was legal. They can't ban Bitcoin or Ethereum anymore , they can only confiscate it by giving you the order to deliver them your coins and pay you a reasonable price in US Dollars, like they did with gold. But for crypto this will never work cause all people are going to deny they have coins. Everybody can create a new wallet and trasfer his balance

@@geoms6263 Marijuana was legalised eventually. Same with prostitution. Here in australia it's legal to F a sex worker. Bitcoin will eventualy go through that phase too all over the world once enough rich men decide its truly the only safe place to park their savings to avoid their wealth being eaten away (like termites in a wodden house) by monetary hyper inflation. (which happens when private central banks print money like crazy and force business to have to raise the prices on goods and services to adapt to it, lest they end up just giving things away for free)
Once Trump wins the election, there will be a sound money system which is what Ron Paul and many libertarians have always wanted. (eg if your money was backed by Gold or even have gold back bitcoin, then people would have confidence again in the currency. For now, nobody trusts the worthless paper which is why all these companeis like Blackrock like Bitcoin. Once a mathematically-sound money system is in place then it will be safe to convert your bitcoin back to cash again but not until Trump has done this. This will be the mark in history where people's wealth will boom because other countries are already experiencing positive things by doing it. (third world countries like it)
The people that do not like it are banks since bitcoin kind of makes them obsolete. And Central Banks hate it because they prefer CENTRALISED system where they can hide the ledger from the public so nobody can see where all the money is coming from and going to. (that's what's eating the nation's wealth and why presidents that tried to go against them got un-alived.

Thanks Mark. I got into Bitcoin a little late at $30k and still continue to DCA on a weekly basis. I went from thinking bitcoin was a scam in 2017 when it was $1k to a weekly DCA plan even when it’s above $70k. The knowledge you deliver to the community is valuable.

I'm not so sure that's the case. I think we should all start stocking up on batteries and generators. They wouldn't allow digital currency outside of their control unless they already found a way to back door it and limit the amount anyone can gain or hold, or just turning off the lights. Digital currency in an age of hacking and energy uncertainty is a dicey move. Get some physical assets.

They said that the risk of owning gold at 1930 doesn’t exist as well and compaction of gold is much harder then BTC and still it was done. Times change and governments do what ever they need to survive .

Silver Is US constitutional money. Lots of money types, eur, jpy, etc. Those are still money just not us constitutional type.

Not worried about the gov banning it, more worried about the fact that it would take nearly 40 years for everyone in the world to use btc even once. 7 transactions a sec is several orders of magnitude too slow to work for 8 billion people. Self custody is out of the question for most but even setting up a lightning channel requires more activity than the network can handle!

They’ve been taxed. You’re supposed to pay capital gains on anything you resell for profit.

They are concerned about peer to peer buying/selling. If people did more peer to peer, it would be very hard for them to chase down capital gains taxes.

I started buying btc in 2021 and since I’ve seen this as the biggest problem. I don’t want to move to El Salvador. These regulations sound good. Your next president can be very important in the next years.

@@_outofphase5480 The same argument could be made for cash. You can have a hundred grand in cash that you refuse to turn in but you will never be able to spend it because no one is going to want it. Once the CBDC is established EVERYTHING else including silver and gold will be illegal and worthless.

My issue with bitcoin is that it's a digital currency. As with anything digital it's usefulness is directly linked to internet access and electronic availability. Any period of prolonged blackouts renders them valueless.
Yet the risk of ignoring it just continues to grow.
