Beginner here. question: If I get a wallet and buy bitcoin...and lets say my wallet "goes out of business". can I access my bitcoin through another wallet with my seed phrase?
Mutiny wallet and all of these second layer developers need to do there very very best to be anonymous. I promise you the government is coming after all of the devs. Do not be surprised if the Mutiny devs are sued or arrested very soon. I used to think people who said things like what I'm saying were crazy. Now I realize, its happening. Its real.
Once the software is out there and free and open source, other people can continue the work if (heaven forbid) devs are arrested

Im not that hip to how our phones browsers etc all interact but my fream would be a pjone, a mini supetr computer device that can comnect to the internet, stream videos, movies misic, make purchases send receive payments without having to use Apple or google.. a communications network that has the properties of bitcoin. No one in charge, decentralized, free from censorship and snooping.. an all in pne device with built in lightning node, why are we still putting up with this shit 10:37

Hey Matt, first time commenting. Love your work! Was listening to Marty Bents podcast over the weekend with Matt Corallo bout the new worry with mining pool centralization. He was basically calling for the nuclear option and reworking the proof of work mechanism. Also gave bitcoin a 3% chance of success, which is crazy to hear from a core developer. Seems like a serious problem although I don’t agree with his solution. Would love to see a video on this sometime if you can.

Thank you for another great video Matt! Can we get a vid talking about how the ETFs are trying to corner bitcoin into an asset. This includes others such as Michael Saylor calling it property only and not money or currency. Further we have heard christine lagard calling it a speculative asset. I think that would be an important video as we want to eventually use bitcoin as money and not just a NUG tech.

Hi Matt, can you import the seed phrase of another wallet into mutiny to get started? Or is this an issue of derivation paths ?
I wonder how many lightning nodes are running on TOR. Bitcoin core supports running on TOR only. Good uptime also gets you a lot of connections. If you can spare the bandwidth, running a TOR relay with decent uptime and internet speed will also help mask specific services. TOR isn't perfect. But with large numbers of users comes more challenging censorship.

Hi matt, when using mutiny make sure you are using your own server or in the case of the company or wallet failing you may lose your funds

Americans in El Salvador often have to sideload Bitcoin wallets to be able to function in the country until they can replace their geolocked American phones. The wallets commonly used here are already banned in the USA.

Great to see these technologies, but so much more is needed. How do we 10x or even 100x capital investment to push more development? Do you believe current models of grant-led FOSS development is viable to scale to what is needed? Opensats (and similar initiatives) are fantastic; but I'm not convinced it's going to incentivize the commensurate level of human skill that will be required in the coming decade to create the technology needed for 9 billion humans. I hope I'm wrong.

If all you want to do is start self-custodying, have you considered Sparrow + Blockstream Jade? MK talks about this a few times in previous videos.

Please explain how Lightning Network is BTC. I am convinced that the Lightning Network is kind of like a BTC "Stable"network, like Wrapped BTC, or anything else that claims to be 1 to 1, but is not BTC. Please convince me that Lightning is worthy of use.
On the surface, it looks like a similar concept, but the decentralized trustless aspect is important to consider (as opposed to the usual scams where you hand over to someone your BTC, and they give you wrapped garbage in exchange). In the case of LN, you sign a contract to lock your own BTC into the channel, and (assuming a non-custodial channel) none of it can leave your channel on LN without your digital signature (i.e. you still own it, whether you consider it "wrapped" or not). The node you are connected to can close the channel if they were the one who opened it, but the channel opener pays the on-chain fee to close it, and your LN balance ends up as a fresh UTXO that you own back on the base layer. If you opened the channel, you can settle it whenever you want (at the cost of the on-chain fee), and again your LN balance ends up as a fresh UTXO that you own.
