*ALERT* In the Electrum example, he's creating new public addresses that are ALL coupled to the SAME private key. All those new pub keys he created all lead to the same single wallet. Electrum does, however, have a very simple method to create a new wallet from the File menu or ctrl+n on windows.

Where did the Bitcoin mining fees come from? I don't remember about that back in ~2014ish. I remember being able to add a fee to charge the recipient some of the transfer, but that was optional. Why not talk about bitcoin's desktop wallet?
I believe it was designed to have eventually have mandatory fees, having a fee market is actually important, and eventually there will need to be fees in order to pay the miners. If we didn't pay the transaction fees, the miners would start turning off their rigs. Fees are a good thing, you just have to manage how often and when you pay them. If you watch, they'll usually go down sometimes if the mempool clears some.
@@ForeShadow20 The rewards for discovering a block get smaller over time. Eventually they will be so small that the main incentive for miners will be getting transaction fees.

Also note that Coinomi sends your public keys to a centralized server, so it can learn all your transactions. Even in case of XMR, it sends the view key. So better stay away if you can, but less bad than an exchange.

How do I backup these wallets? Is there a file I have to safeguard?
For Bitcoin wallets at least they consist of a 12 or 24 word seed phrase you can write down on paper
