don't do this on a GLI without prior putting it in service mode or removing the ebrake motor first.... you'll not going to like the results $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
@@isaihgloria7346 you need a computer or ODB2 device... I didn't do that, I simply removed the ebrake motor and spun back the caliper piston. Once I found the trick I did the other side in under 20 mins.
@OTG.786 Same here. 20,000mi and pads are wiped out. Dealer wanted to charge me $600 to replace during my last maintenance visit. Just bought the pads for $48
@@schuylerambrose7720 Actually VW extended the warranty on the pads because apparently the ones on the newer model Jetta, GLI, and Taos have premature wear. It has something to do with the material used by the pad manufacturer that is supposed to reduce breaking noise. In the pre-2020 models, people were complaining of too much breaking noise. So VW switched to these quieter pads. But they wear faster than they are supposed to. However, some people have said they have had trouble getting their dealer to honor the warranty extension. They've had to push them to do it for some reason. I guess they dont want to do the added paperwork.

How did you get the caliper piston to go down so they can for over the new pads ?? I got the tool but the piston won’t close
Turn the piston clockwise
Is that tool required to get the piston to reset? Or could I use a c clamp 🗜?
Almost all rear calipers turn to collapse
Took me a while with that tool too so use this tool. Its a lil hard but will do the job
@@BigSolja702 you can just use the old brake pad and a c-clamp to push it back in but make sure you pop off the brake motor oil reservoir cap.

I purchased from Volkswagen but Tbh autozone is better and cheaper.
