Can we just move the cup season to January-Feb when there is nothing and then have the final game at the all-star so we have a gane with effort? The NFL gave up on its also horrible ASG game yet still hold the event. Do the skills contests, add some 3v3, keep the celeb and rookie game and have all the stars on the front row seats at the Cup game. (Present the allstars at half time ceremony even cooler if the Finals teams have players on all star team)
I think the reason they do it so early is to eliminate the likelihood of rest/injuries. Injury prone stars are significantly more likely to miss time in Jan/Feb than he is in Nov/Dec. But I think they could easily move it to Jan/Feb if they reward the winner with 2 additional wins on the season. That way the contenders and the play in teams would both be very enticed to try and win, as it would help them with seeding. For example: the lakers woulda avoided the play in and the nuggets or wolves woulda had the 1 seed had they won the tournament last year with this rule.
I don't think they would do that because then they would be competing with the NFL, especially around the Superbowl. Now if it was right after the Superbowl -that could work...but then I would suggest starting the NBA season in December instead to prevent the start of the season from feeling long. And if that could replace the All Star game - even better.
Player development with teams having youth development programs down to 10 years old is the most effective system for developing pros. Soccer/football has proven this extensively. I've always been curious how long it would before this more effective academy/club player development system gets adopted into the NBA.
my only real gripe (if you would even call it that) with PER was that after the 2017 season russ had the single best season ever according to that metric and hollinger went thru and redid the entire calculation just so that wasn’t the case lol. it’s a useful tool tho!
If there’s a Haliburton in the IST this year it’s definitely going to be either Alperen Sengun or Jalen Johnson. Outside of those guys, I would say my dark horse is Jalen Williams but I expect it to be one of the aforementioned two players.
As a Lakers fan, I would have loved the dream of getting both CP3 and Dwight, at the same time (since Dwight was guilted into picking up his player option), and then shipping Kobe off for depth.
Do you really think Westbrook has a track record of making his teammates better. Maybe in the short term, but eventually they get frustrated with his style of play
How do you have a serious conversation about international basketball and not being the format of our leagues compared to most. We have private leagues while most countries have pro relegation. It’s integral part kf why coaching and development is a focus elsewhere while it’s become stagnant here.
I think FIBA would be a great minor league to the NBA. Really I’d like FIBA to cannibalize the NBA from within and implement more FIBA rules to make this league more watchable if possible
Chris always catches me off guard the way he pronounces "Nikola" 😂😂
😂 Ahaha same here. I was like " Hold up fam 🤨 " 🤣🤣

As a Suns fan whose birthday also fell on the finals of the NBA cup last year, I had that exact travel planning issue.

A great memory of Chris Paul is when Rondo and him went fisticuffs on each other.
Both Chuck and Chris with vintage Jay-Z lines 🤣
What Chuck said was mid
Nba has so many fair weather fans. Especially bigger market teams

Paul got lucky he didn’t play with Kobe

Yes, let FIBA be the facehugger and burst out in 3 years from the dying carcass of the NBA.
