Looking at the comments on Lacuna Coil's videos I get the feeling that I'm one of the few people who actually like Andrea's voice. Maybe because I'm so used to hearing men growling and shouting it's just relaxing to hear a softer male voice accompanied by a lower female singer. In my opinion, their voices work just fine together, male and female voices don't have to always be hugely contrasted, sometimes it's ok for them to blend together like this.

Just discovered this band when I watched an Underworld montage that played Spellbound. After listening to other songs, I'm amazed how awesome this band is, and how much I love this song! It's nice to know that with all the crap music there is today there are still bands who know how to make good music.
There are plenty of more dynamic alt-metal bands that are less commercial than them. Try Opeth, Theatre of Tragedy, Tristania, early Within Temptation. More melody than palm-muting and power chords and basically drumming on drop A 7-string. If you want to hear that "full" sound of Spellbound with more than just 1st/5th chords try Demon of the Fall by Opeth.
