OK, this is funny. I am not very far into your video yet, but I watched Crazy Lamp Lady video last night and she must have been at that Goodwill store shortly after you! I believe she bought the large candle with the carousel horse and the dolphin piece by John Perry. She looked at the dinosaur planter and monkey bookends too, but didn't buy. Love both your channels!
Lol I saw the candle in Crazy Lamp Lady’s video yesterday too but didn’t realize they were in the same place. I was thinking “how common are these candles?!”
Great video as always. The world's clothing and waste situation is absolutely appalling. I think resellers are a treasure for helping save more items from demise! Thank you for sharing including your sweet mouse nativity. Don't stop being who you are!
I love the honesty in your presentation. We all live for the profitable flips but in reality a large percentage of a re-sellers income is made $10-$20 at a time.
Great video as always Karen ! And being a woman of a certain age like yourself , please keep talking and shopping with Roger. We of that age realize quicker just how fortunate we are when we find a human being with style , grace and charm and we hold on to such qualities , whether friendship or love. God bless you both.
A hint to get rid of stains, use your preferred spot treater, then use a used dryer sheet to rub the spot. Sometimes you can get it out before washing, but usually, it will come out after washing. This even works on stains that have gone through the drier, and grease stains, you know the darkened areas that mysteriously show up on the front of shirts or pants. Use a little elbow grease if you have time and the material will tolerate it. I think this works because the rough sheet help grind the cleaner into the individual fibers, not just the surface.
That should be a health violation and the city should shut them down until it gets cleaned and deemed safe to return. The mold and mildew should be an OSHA violation.
At the hudson store I watch them wheel the carts in the back place on a conveyor belt that leas to a large dumpster . . If Gw would just price everything a dollar in their stores things would fly , poor people will shop there again . no need for bin stores, no need for price guns ,labels researching item . fewer stuff getting broken , thrown away sent over seas
yes they have a conveyor belt and they throw items worth thousands of dollars away. They can not process the volume of donations consequently they dump many items due tio they just do not know what has real value.
The "Ping" golf top explanation was very interesting. I am not into golf, but I can see people like me could be fooled very easily by this knock off. I don't think it would prevent me from buying it for my hubby for personal use, but wouldn't want a reseller to get stung listing it for sale and subsequent repercussions. The "mouse nativity" - cute as the dickens.
I REALLY gleaned important information from this video. I always listen carefully to your wise words because you have had many years in this business. While you were in the basement gathering sold items your talking was very important to me and I will apply most of what you said. Thank you for taking us along on your journey. ( keep Roger in the show)
Minute mark 31: multiple qty, individual variation items: you mentioned a situation (using wood coasters as an example) of slight variations in wood grain, as an example of matching the item with the listing photos. What I do, especially with multiple quantity New/old stock items, where there might be some variation in packaging shelf wear, is make the last photo be an overview shot showing them all and saying in the listing that “you will receive 1 (or more) of the items shown in the condition shown from the group”. I do this so I can put them all in 1 listing (multiple qty) and avoid photographing/listing each separately. Saves effort and time, when the variation is minimal.
I live in that area and go to that Goodwill and agree with the shape the bins are in. My son and I were there a few weeks ago and left in disgust. It's like a trash bin. Also smelled mildew and they had a wicker clothes basket in there that was all black mildew in the bottom! Went right to cashier and he removed it. We find things in the New Castle, DE bins. They have regulars who storm the place when bins are changed out. Found a Lilly Publitzer vintage purse which I sold for $300! Also just found an Enid Collins purse, but has condition issues. It may sell.
What a fun and inspiring channel. Your basement store is amazing! So organized. I also admire your energy to go find merch and your eye for what might sell.
Not sure if someone else mentioned it yet, but I believe that there is a trash compacter in the back at most Goodwill bins and at the end of the day/week, whatever hasn't sold gets crushed. I think another you tuber mentioned it before. tfs
Kudos to you and Roger for navigating the smelly, moldy bins😂 Love the mice nativity, adorable. You’re just a ball of fire, I’m inspired by your drive! Happy thanksgiving to you and your lovely family🥰
When you see a lot of items alike, like those little green cups, were probably used in a wedding. They probably even candle holders on the guest tables. They usually get rid of it right after the wedding.
I belong to a reselling fb group. A woman was posting that everything she sells she gets at the bins and she doesn’t clean anything. When I mentioned that eBay states that clothing needs to be clean. Her response was it always is at the bins where she shops. Ugh. I’ve been to the bins in NH and the noise was too much for me. Left without buying anything. Hope to never go there again.
Thank You Karen for another video…you are so organized and generous ! Would you please give us a like to Rodger’s store ? So always your choice is great!
Id really like to have a burlap looking bag that you use in these videos. Have you thought about making them as merch with the go out and get what's yours logo?
I wonder about those stickers covering the maker, too. Isn’t their goal to sell that stuff? Thanks for sharing Karen, I always enjoy your videos. Sincerely, Robin
Karen I'm not sure if you have ever been asked or already answered this question: Do you own a truck? How did you get those circular racks home? I always wonder if part of the business model "MUST" include a truck and/or trailer. I love your videos, you inspire me in so many ways :) BTW, thank you SO MUCH for the tip on the backgammon games. I pass them up constantly and had no idea they were a hot item. I always learn something new when I watch your vids.
Great vid, Karen. I hope to someday be able to sell +10k /month. That would be amazing. My bin store is always crowded, but it doesn't smell. People are kind. Can't believe that bin store was so empty of people. When my wife and I go to the bins we always wear gloves. LOVE your basement setup.....one question...where do you have things like Christmas decor that you are NOT selling but use to decorate for holidays? Seems your whole basement is your store inventory...unless your basement is bigger than we can tell.
Great video! I love that you and Roger have different focuses and methods and time frames, and weave those together. Yes to really good 🍕 pizza! And that Tommy bag is great. Love the items you bought from fellow reseller❤️. I don’t think I’ve ever left a thrift store empty handed, I’ll have to challenge myself! So true about moving our treasures from store to car to house to room to room back to car for post sometimes. Spied the Peanuts musical toy , had to have it! Thanks for so much goodness 💜Karen💜.
I’ve never been to the bins and sure there are non local.. love your knowledge and I’ve tried selling hard goods but shipping was crazy! I get tips from you about purposing items for other things! That’s imagination 👍
Just found your channel! Your organization is amazing!! Goals! Do you buy the plastic bags for all of your clothing? Do you launder before packaging, or just buy ready to go pieces?
Oh I love the charming tails nativity ❤️❤️ love your channel! God loves all creatures!! I need an inventory system. It’s a problem for me. Wish I could figure it Out. I’m a part time seller.
For some reason people like to leave their donations in their truck beds or yards overnight even if it is going to rain. Things get wet/damp and they still donate them. Could be where the mold smell is coming from.
Not sure about the bins but at my regular GW every so often they purge and I have happened to be there on a day that was happening. Cart loads were going back and you could hear the people in back smashing glass and china. I cringed in consideration of what they might be destroying for all time. There was literally almost nothing left on their glass and china shelves. A week later you could not tell they ever did that. Amazing the amounts they get for FREE.
Not all Fire And Light glass is signed. It's better to memorize their colors, glass look and different pieces they have made even fish! I'm always looking for it here in Oregon too. Most pieces are sold to around Humboldt county.
Yvon, Thrifty Rich on RUclips, loves John Perry and almost always pick it up either for her own collection or for resale. That was a nice large one. I found a smaller one a while ago at one of our local thrifts.
I have never seen a Goodwill outlet with so few shoppers. I would deal with the smell for the opportunity to shop bins with no one shoving me out of their way.
Maybe I can help with the reason why labels are covered on dishes . It actually has nothing to do with trying to cover the label on purpose. I spent 14 years working for Value Village here in Canada, each department has a quota of items they must get out each days to maintain profits. These tags are printed off in long strips and workers can peel them off quickly , therefore they slap the tags on with no thought as to where they are put. I am assuming Goodwill is pretty much the same as V V ( Savers) . Our day would consist of rolling racks and getting our quota of goods out each day. I hope that helps.
I don't know why thrifts put stickers over brand names. Thank goodness our SA puts the price stickers on the side of the wares. But another thrift put the stickers over the brand, and I'm going to write the manager to tell them to stop.
Hi, Karen, you have such an amazing eye! Every video, I see money I have left on the shelf. I need "training" lol. Thank you as always! I hope you and your family have an amazing Thanksgiving! God Bless you all.

Just catching up on some of your.videos... I don't think Jesus would have an issue with the mouse nativity scene and I was wishing I had bought it... :(. He does have a tender heart... I agree with you completely!!
