FIXES AND UPDATES: Turns out the texture converter (for quest) doesn't handle eyeliner very well, so I made this super basic Quest eyeliner you can add to the face paint instead. Download this one, or make your own. drive.google.com/file/d/1hFzcv1S4g14QxBgGgNrVR17EYv_OfDHi/view?usp=sharing Also for quest users, be aware that some clothes will have issues with shaders as well. This is something you can usually fix in blender, and I have a short video showing how to do that in my Discord (go to the Avatar Help Channel > Pinned messages). Also the Eyelids and eye highlights don't work with Quest shaders either. Either delete those or add the eyelids to the face texture and the highlights directly to the iris texture. YOU HAVE THE MOST AMAZING DISCORD COMMUNITY!! I'd been working on an avatar for my son for DAYS and blender decided to crash every time i went to atlas. I went to your discord and got an almost immediate response that tried to troubleshoot with me and when that didn't work he offered to run my file through blender and went above and beyond! This is what every discord community should be like!! A server filled with everyone helping each other, its a thing of beauty!! THANK YOU VIRTUAL PANDA!! You've earned a new subscriber forever and I'm telling everyone I know!!
I cant believe that this is where my Avatar creation started and now I make most of my Assets from scratch. Thank you for all the info you provided to lil ol me when I didnt even know where start
Really nice tutorial, very helpful. I tried Vroid a few years ago and it was hard to customise things how I wanted but it looks like they've improved it a lot. Looking forward to the other parts of this tutorial series! 🐼
Thanks very much for this video dude, I was literally in the early stages of building my Avatar on Vroid outside of Steam and this video came at the perfect time!
Note for Quest Texture Conversion: After reading the free tools description it appears this will not work for male avatars due to he free version being v.2 while male avatar support added in v.4 (God may this help some poor soul who got stuck as me)
by the way guys, 200 yen is a 1.50 USD. A small payment to make imo to make your avatar presentable to a vast majority of the VRChat user base. I bought the v4 version and I can tell you that the masc settings works perfectly, including eyeliner.
The video was very detailed and helpful... But, the end of the "Quest Shader Fix" was very confusing for me, I have no idea how you hid the "previous eyeliner and eyebrow" and whenever I try to follow through with it, They both become very off, and it just overall doesn't really work as expected, I think I'm doing it wrong but I can't find out what.
Sounds like other people are having issues with that tool as well. To hide the old eyebrow/eyeliner, go to edit their textures, then hide the old texture. Then in the face paint texture import the new Quest versions of the eyebrow/eyeliner from the tool. If it doesn't fit right, make sure you're putting in the correct settings in the tool. If it still looks off (the eyeliner) then try manually adding eyeliner by drawing it on the avatar (still in the facepaint section of textures)
At 17:35 does this apply to both the mouths fem and masc as well as mouth inside or is it just mouth fem for female avatars and mouth masc for male avatars along with mouth inside?
When I try to download the texture converter it says running it could be a risk is that correct so far? And should I run it? (For the vroid_texture_converter.exe)
I just really want to say I'm not one for ads, but I've never been happier to hear that there are prescription lens for my VR headset because my glasses barely fit and it's a pain. I never thought I would need glasses to see in Virtual Reality as well as the real world.
this isn't the best way to do it. the easiest and most effiecent is the get the VRM to VRoid converter unitypackage from booth, and enable dynamic bones if you want by before converting the vrm to a vrchat ready model, is putting the dynamic bones package in and then converting it over, and i reccomend something like pumkins avatar tools to select the avatar and enable dynamic bones.
If you just erase parts of texture that wont do it much more optimized (it could be little bit more optimized if shader is drawing with cutoff mode). Triangles are still drawing, but with transparent color. You should remove invisible triangles in blender instead
I know this comment was posted a while ago but I just want to point out that this is wrong. Once you export the vrm if you tick "Remove Transparent images" then it deletes that part of the texture. By doing so it reduces the triangles. Also either english is your second language or you a like 8 years old but your grammar sucks and there is no such thing as a 'transparent color'.
Looking forward to seeing the last two parts as old tutorials don't have much of those what you explain, especially they are not so outdated and actual. I had to draw the skin texture, but now it has somekind of a converter - if I had known it before doing so...
please help why is mine when i first download it there avatars that I am looking at have like pixels around them and they don't look good please respond also do you still have to do that annoying thing for downloading new hair
I have a question about a really basic issue I'm having... in the texture editor when I zoom in to the texture how do I scroll up!?!?! I'm getting so frustrated trying to get in closer to get something. Doesn't matter if I right or left click, all it does is paint.
If you hold shift and click on the mouse wheel at the same time you should be able to move the texture around, I had this problem for a short while too :0
Zod, this is so much better than slaving away for a Sims4 custom content. Thanks so much for the tutorial! You gave me a new purpose to use my artistic skills.~♥
Hello ! First of all, thank you for this video series ! I'm about to use it as a guide to make and upload my own avatar. But since this series is almost 2 years old, I wanted to ask if I had anything else to know before following it (like new updates, outdated plugins...) or if it is still relevant as it is. Try putting it higher in the converter? Like higher up on the face it gives you an option like that? Might take some trial and error. Sorry, not at my PC to check right now

The hair looks like my avatar has been thinning and there is only texture on one side. Hey, the converter isn’t working right. It keeps getting the eyebrows and eyeliner in the wrong position and color. It was working yesterday so idk what I did wrong. Great vid overall it’s been really helpful!
I just made a basic eyeliner that you can use (check pinned comment). But the eyebrow part of the converter should work. If it ends up as the wrong color, use canva to make the texture itself the color you want. (This is better since shaders won't always work in vrchat, so the textures should always be the color you want)

Hi! I have quest 2 and I'm making my avatar on my computer but the texture converter isn't working for me. Idk what to do instead of using it.
Will it work if I make my own brows and eye liner?
