I just got the new oculus three and I wanted to get one of my animatronic characters created from scratch because I’m new to all this, I I haven’t had the best of luck. I had somebody from Nigeria say they could do it for $250 but I kind of think that’s a little sus. Is there any reputable person that can create the avatar for around $150 or is there a website that offers such service?
As someone who animates in blender, if you don’t have any experience with blender and/or modeling, don’t use this option unless you are willing to take on a huge challenge! I can do a lot of basic modeling in blender, but nothing like a vrchat model, and I’ve been using blender for years now. Not to discourage anyone, I’m just warning you, if you just want a free easy model, don’t chose this. If you’re wanting a crazy model and are willing to put effort into it, then of course give blender a go! ~ You local blender animator

I'm currently working on the video comparing various tiers of Fiverr avatars. I have 2 of the avatars done already, but the most expensive option is taking much longer than expected to get done. Two things! First, I'd like to see what other Fiverr people are making, always fun. Second, I have worked quite a bit at rigging skeletons and weight painting in Blender and would love to help, or at least give you some tips!
Going to try both Tafi and Ready Player Me. Both seem interesting. I've used Blender before but some texturing is the death of me. I also have never rigged at either and everyone I've talked to has said rigging is a nightmare.
Rigging is a much less creative process than the rest, it's more of methodical trial-and-error with educated guesswork. To be honest, when it came to 3d modeling, it was the easiest for me to pick up because it felt obvious, like "yes the arm bone moves the arm, but now I have to spend time making sure the arm moves correctly". It was a lot of work, but it was much different compared to texturing and modeling. I can't draw anything good or do anything creative, so that's probably why it was the easiest for me to pick up, plus it felt really satisfying seeing my models move
Fivvr video is needed big time. Fivvr is a mine field of experts, amatures, incompetents, and scammers. Many of the low price people are just ripping avatars others have made and reselling them. If the artists doesn't tell you they plan to keep a copy of your avatar for in game testing or self promotion don't buy anything from them. If they don't care enough to test or showcase what they made, they aren't going care enough to make anything thats good enough to worth your money.
It still depends on what you are used to making in blender. if you started using blender by modelling simple things that would improve your blender skills (like a normal person, and you should do this btw don't end up like me) that would make that a lot easier. However stupid me decided that I wanted to make cars so I spent the next 2 and a half years making cars. I can do that really well now along with other manmade objects however whenever I try to do any living thing it just looks either super uncanny or doesn't even work at all.
@@Crown987 mmmmmm thats a tall order sir. Look up Phia, she made a good tutorial on how to do that. I would recommend bringing it into blender to do some of those changes but if you want quick and easy (as least as far as Vroid avatars on quest go) her tutorial is how to do it.
@@Crown987 In that case, just make the avatar like she does in Vroid, then use blender, find a vroid to blender plugin, use that, and then upload it like you would any other quest version of an avatar.
VRoid is very hard to import since it only imports as PC (Quest avatars can be made, but the textures get really messed up) Also, the face tends to break on them.
I can't really explain those things in detail as those are quite large but I give you some key words! ^^ Look for "Blender Shapekeys to unity" and "unity vrchat tutorial animations" also "blender 2.8 shapekeys"
nowadays vroid has a lot of presets if you dont want to go in and spend a lot of time adjusting things or making them from scratch. don't need to do anything but click the stuff you want and adjust some sliders, similar to other avatar creation programs. and even just the preset stuff can look pretty good
Funny thing about blender, not many people knows how easy it is to model with it, I kind of got surprised at how fast i got used to it, and how ridiculous custom model prices are too.
I jumped right into VRoid, and while I'm satisfied with what I've created, one downside is that there's not much variation in face shape. I hoped that there'd at least be different genres of anime avatars, like Ghibli, edgy M-rated anime, JoJo-style, etc. But nah, you're pretty much going to be an extra from SAO or any other flavor-of-the-month anime about teenagers. I'm curious if Tafi has less sameface syndrome.
im working on a costum avatar in Blender. The hardest is that i need to create my own costum clothing, and i cant use some comon methods because its a special nog coat, so i have to model it completely by Hand. Maybe after that i can finally create avatars for a little bit of money

Woah.. just last night i got "offered" for someone to do a commission for me, the wording they used in my sleep deprived brain was "Free" as they said "Dont worry on the price" turns out it was 350 dollars!! which is roughly 400-450 AUD. I am a STUDENT and said as such saving for my vr headset as my ex owned the last one I used.. bloody insane to see models on fiverr for 10-300 ;-; Edit: Next day me! used VRoid and it is SOOO EASSYYY (used the steam game version), so easy to do, so easy to just do what I want it to do :D
One other one I will put here is game models. If you dont wanna be anime, or a generic person, or a furry then ripping game models worked well for me. I managed to do several demons from doom eternal using vega as they all come rigged straight from files however the easyness will depend of course on the game

If you want your own custom avatar to be only yours don’t use it in VR chat public worlds people can steal it quite easily and post it somewhere else... I assume anybody who has played VR chat for a little bit knows this but hey if you didn’t the more you know :D
Honestly I'm glad a lot of this is human, no problems against furries, the people I plan to hang out with on vrchat are pretty much all furries and I love them all, some even let me copy some of their base models but it just never felt comfortable, I've been using the starter skinny plague doctor avatar since I started and would not mind paying 200+ for a nice avatar that I can call my own for once, I just really didnt know where to start 😅

I am already an artist (though modelling is way out of my area), but I can at least make 2d reference art from different angles to help shape the character. If you're stilly trying, use a free trial of substance painter once you make a model

Working on a Vroid tutorial right now for both Quest and PC. Isn't too hard to make them work on Quest

its crazy how all these small channels are under 100k but get half a million views in most videos.
only issues with vroid avatars is that they have crazy bad clipping issues, so skin textures glitch through the clothes etc
Phia has some good videos about fixing those problems with vroid! :) I'd definitely recommend her videos on it
