For some reason Vasco has always been one of the most fascinating side characters to me. He just strikes me as exceptionally cruel and violent even for the BB crew, kinda like fuhrer ugly from OPM. Alone each fruit seems to have easy counters but together they are nuts. Imagine boozing up someone and then van shooting them while it's an easy target or using it themselves turning them into drunk rock Lee. Sick sick fruit with the island fruit to start the black plague and so on. It's all scary when you realize the powers they hold
Ussopp will be giving Van Auger such a hard time, Van Auger will ask Vasco to use his fruit to make Ussopp drunk. Ussopp getting drunk will give him that liquid courage making him the most dangerous marksman in the series
I just wanna point out back when the time skip was starting in the manga I played in a OP DnD game and my character was a "Dwarf" (just used the racial stat block and height) who shut down his bar and set to sea in search of the booze booze fruit. My character thought it'd be a logia and was disappointed when he discovered it was a paramecia that basically made him sweat alcohol He learned to produce enough booze to light himself on fire safely and used that to fight
I think the reason Sanji didn't kill Absolem to get the Clear-Clear Fruit may be because he considered to do so may be stooping to his quadruplet brothers' level. Off the top of my head, the urchin starts with U.
That would mean that Oda had a clear concept for Germa 66 all the way back then. It isn't impossible, because Sanji mentioned being from the North Blue at Jaya, but the WCI-arc happened so much later that it seems like it's too big a stretch.

I think an interesting aspect of the fruit could be the embodiment of how different alcohol effects you. Like certain alcohol making him more friendly, sad, messy, or angry. So he would channel different alcohol for different buffs
Nami has a crazy high toleranz. If I remember correctly Oda stated in an FPS that Nami used to rob pirate crews of their treasure after drinking with them till they all pass out... she´s a legend simple as that
Robin would have higher tolerance than anyone. She can created extra livers with her devil fruit and process the alcohol twice as fast for each new liver.
I can definitely see a Nami vs vasco shot situation. There's the drinking aspect, vasco's views towards women and potentially namis weather knowledge to deal with his likely liquid style abilities. All vasco needs to do is attack an innocent kid and Nami would personally step forward to wreck him
Vasco's fruit reminds me of the Juice Juice Fruit that one of the members of the Big Mom Pirates have. Maybe it has some similar abilities in addition to the fire related powers and making everyone around him intoxicated aswell
If Vasco can make other people drunk using his fruit the juicer fruit is probably a good hard counter to it as you can squeeze the alcohol out of yourself and your allies.

One of many drunk storys: I met a old friend randomly in another city on a birthday party at the park. We wanted to make this meeting legendary. So we got naked and used a cross road as out catwalk. We were blocking the traffic for about 5-10 min. Then some guy walked by and wanted to punch us because he was upset seeing naked men. His friend was holding him back, but my friend (a mad looking punk) just walked towards the guy and started swinging his balls and dong in his direction. The angry guy was so disturbed, he just turned around and ran.
The idea of Vasco being able to make other people drunk reminds me of the dude from the 8 precepts of death during the Overhaul arc in MHA.. the one with the drunk quirk. Always love abilities like that.
I think that Brooke will fight Vasco shot because he could make everyone drunk except Brooke because he’s a skeleton but Brooke’s ice attacks won’t work on Vasco because you can’t freeze alcohol! Brooke would have to awaken his soul fruit….

I want to think that it will be a special paramecia like Katakuri's fruit since it is a formless substance but not exactly a force of nature. It would be nice to see more fruits from that category.
Special Paramecia shouldn't even be a thing. I previously thought that the gomu gomu no mi was one because of Katakuri's fruit. To some extent, maybe Buggy's bara bara no mi would be one to. Basically, special Paramecia are devil fruits which effect the user's own body like a logia, but they aren't things you'd encounter naturally. Katakuri's will probably be unique in that regard, because it was basically just a retcon and the gomu gomu no mi is a god-fruit now.
This video started off as a discussion about the glug glug fruit, it then turned into a bb pirates vs strawhats discussion, changing one more time into a discussion about turtles and cleaning up our oceans, and we not only sat through, but enjoyed it. i think if kuzan is going to fight anyone it will be koby. because one thing we forget is that we have a total of ten straw hats right now, and we have ten titanic captains and blackbeard what makes it 11. so someone else might need to pick up the slack of the elevend member of the blackbeard crew, and coby might be the only one to fit that bill( if kuzan isn't having his own hidden agenda)

I dont think its every liquid that can weaken a devil fruit user but its every kind of water (salt,fresh,ocean,river,lake, etc). Thats what Oda said. It would also be very weird to die in a pool of Milk, but thats probably not an argument.

We have a drink called "Teleport" in my home town, its essentialy 50-50 homemade plum spirit (around 50% of alc) with 80% absinthe in 2dl glass with sugar. The name comes the inventor of the drink, who after chugging it, woke up after 2 days in Germany, 400km away from our hometown im Czechia on a roof of a random college student house with 0 recolection of happened. Something very funny about the reveal of this DF to me: In my own One Piece D&D campaign that I run on Wednesdays: the NPC cook of the crew was a nervous guy named Rolfe who had what I called the *Alco-Alco Fruit,* which made all his body fluids alcoholic and he could manifest alcoholic liquids from his body. In the session I ran *literally the day before the chapter dropped,* Rolfe died under strange circumstances. This campaign takes place 20 years before the start of One Piece, so it ends up potentially making sense canonically that Rolfe dies in my campaign, then the next user would be Vasco Shot! I know the name isn't the same, but Glug-Glug Fruit is a better name than my Alco-Alco Fruit so I consider them to be the same.
Suggestion for a video series: do a character analysis for the Straw Hat crew and how they've grown since the time you last did them. Like, do a quick synopsis of the characters of course, but compare them from "Current Luffy" to the chapter that was most recent when it was made.
I'm thinking Vasco could effect his crew. But only with the side effects. If you can withstand more pain while drunk, maybe he could give that side effect to his crew. Allowing them to take more damage without being drunk. This would help Blackbeard a lot
I'm pretty confident the Vasco shot fight will go like this: Vasco shot bullies the weakling trio for a few chapters. Everyone hates him. Then Zoro and Sanji team up because they are both disgusted by him: Sanji because he's a perv and Zoro because he fights dirty and hurt Chopper. Zoro has innately high defense against him but Sanji burns him (like how chefs burn away alcohol) and together they destroy him immediately. He is shocked to be defeated so easily. I think it makes sense with Zoro having such a high alcohol tolerance and alcohol's weakness being a top tier chef!!

I think Oda was pretty clear in that answer that it only applies to "water", he didn't mention the word "liquid" even once and that changes the whole meaning. Even the examples given were of water in its natural form, seas, rivers, rain, baths (fresh water) or any stagnant water (lake, whatever) . So I don't see how that implies that any liquid that has water, like milk would have the same weakening effect. I think that's where Oda drew the line, logically at least. When I was around 16 I got really drunk with my friends sister and we climbed on top of a nearby highschool. After walking around for a bit and looking for the ladder to climb down I accidentally walked off the edge and fell 3 floors down and broke my leg.
one time I got drunk in st augustine, swam in the ocean for a couple of hours, then was told by the lifeguard to get out because it was bull shark mating season. then sat and watched some quite aggressive sharks swam by right after I got out.

I think the glug glug fruit has more to do with the consumption of a liquid. Usually the epithet characteristics align with the user characteristics. So if Franky ate the glug glug fruit he'd be a cola man. This would mean the devil fruit is akin to the pocket pocket fruit.

i think if kuzan is going to fight anyone it will be koby. because one thing we forget is that we have a total of ten straw hats right now, and we have ten titanic captains and blackbeard what makes it 11. so someone else might need to pick up the slack of the elevend member of the blackbeard crew, and coby might be the only one to fit that bill( if kuzan isn't having his own hidden agenda)

We have a drink called "Teleport" in my home town, its essentialy 50-50 homemade plum spirit (around 50% of alc) with 80% absinthe in 2dl glass with sugar. The name comes the inventor of the drink, who after chugging it, woke up after 2 days in Germany, 400km away from our hometown im Czechia on a roof of a random college student house with 0 recolection of happened. Something very funny about the reveal of this DF to me: In my own One Piece D&D campaign that I run on Wednesdays: the NPC cook of the crew was a nervous guy named Rolfe who had what I called the *Alco-Alco Fruit,* which made all his body fluids alcoholic and he could manifest alcoholic liquids from his body. In the session I ran *literally the day before the chapter dropped,* Rolfe died under strange circumstances. This campaign takes place 20 years before the start of One Piece, so it ends up potentially making sense canonically that Rolfe dies in my campaign, then the next user would be Vasco Shot! I know the name isn't the same, but Glug-Glug Fruit is a better name than my Alco-Alco Fruit so I consider them to be the same.

I'm thinking Vasco could effect his crew. But only with the side effects. If you can withstand more pain while drunk, maybe he could give that side effect to his crew. Allowing them to take more damage without being drunk. This would help Blackbeard a lot
I'm pretty confident the Vasco shot fight will go like this:
Vasco shot bullies the weakling trio for a few chapters. Everyone hates him.
Then Zoro and Sanji team up because they are both disgusted by him: Sanji because he's a perv and Zoro because he fights dirty and hurt Chopper. Zoro has innately high defense against him but Sanji burns him (like how chefs burn away alcohol) and together they destroy him immediately. He is shocked to be defeated so easily.
I think it makes sense with Zoro having such a high alcohol tolerance and alcohol's weakness being a top tier chef!!

I think Oda was pretty clear in that answer that it only applies to "water", he didn't mention the word "liquid" even once and that changes the whole meaning. Even the examples given were of water in its natural form, seas, rivers, rain, baths (fresh water) or any stagnant water (lake, whatever) . So I don't see how that implies that any liquid that has water, like milk would have the same weakening effect. I think that's where Oda drew the line, logically at least.

True but Devil fruit users can't swim either so if they are sumerged in any liquid they will drown .

I've had long conversations at anime convention bars about one piece before, and i really wish i could do it with tekking. I once had a 2 hour long conversation with a 8 foot tall shaq lookin black dude in full demon slayer cosplay (he was Tengen Uzui, his cosplay looked cool as fuck, I was cosplaying Saint-14 from Destiny 2 which he also played which is how we got to chatting). We were just chattin for 2 hours about the demon slayer movie at a rooftop bar at an anime & game convention i go to every year. Was one of the most fun I had at that convention that year.

I think the glug glug fruit has more to do with the consumption of a liquid. Usually the epithet characteristics align with the user characteristics. So if Franky ate the glug glug fruit he'd be a cola man. This would mean the devil fruit is akin to the pocket pocket fruit.

The examples shown in the answer are examples of water sources. At best, liquids like alcohol or milk or blood would have a minor effect on Devil Fruit users since the water has been altered or diluted similar to the sea prism stone handcuffs Luffy wore at Wano.
