I don't like the fact they removed player options in the updated version. I really liked elbowing Astarion in the face as that's how I'd imagine my Tav would react at first to someone looming over them when they were sleeping haha. So I hope they are maybe tweaking some things and adding it back later.
dang you can see the rollercoaster of emotions on his face this patch. pretty cool to see that development. the companions were so stone faced in the beginning!
kinda sad they took the stick out lol. I know everyone didn't like it, but it did add drama there, and it's not like everyone romances him. I would of wanted her to grab the stick before he says "no no no, it's not what it looks like!" I feel like it would fit better there because then you could choose to drop it or stabbity (lol) after he explains himself, or if you chose tadpole, maybe she would drop it automatically cuz she's doing mind stabs ha. Ahh I'm so excited to see this game in its final form 🙈🖤
Honestly, if people don't like a character defending themself from someone about to bite them (!?) why not make it an *option?* You previously had the option to stake him, why not keep the options to elbow him or knee him in the crotch?
I really do hope they replace the elbowing option at some point. It seems like a terrible idea to not try and defend yourself from someone who just tried to bite you while you were (percieved) helpless.
I'm glad they added the gift line back. I wasn't happy that was removed. I really don't like the position they are in for the bite scene. It looks awkward. I think they should change that back too. Also, is his hair really this white now or is that a lighting problem?
Same here. That gift line was very important and meaningful. I don't like the position either. the previous version of the bite was way better. As for his hair, I'm still unsure about it.
@@aranellavellan I finally had time to start a game last night. It's not quite as jarring while playing the game as just watching clips, but I kind of think it's distracting. I hope they tone it down a little. It doesn't have to be a lot. But every other graphic is amazing! And the facial expressions are so much better.

I see the position as it gives him some control in case you jerk too much and he might accidentally rip your neck open if you do and it also allows for a bit of trust to be given because it's such a compromised position. That's not saying it isn't awkward.

the gift line returning is so important!! can even forgive the awkward camera shots on his teeth for it. i still don't quite like the lack of choice when you first wake up. i think it'd be fun to be able to either be stupidly calm or freak out on him, not it be forced into one reaction for all. and the feeding pose... can't yall at least sit up. this is weird.
I think I prefer the original bite scene, but I am also glad they put the gift line back. They are trying very hard with the small expressions, but it's not working. their eyes and faces just twitches everywhere. And the clipping! Scary stuff. Great intentions, bad executions. I started a bard playthrough. The game looks better than ever, but Asty's hair really bothers me.
Why did they change it? The stick was kinda perfect. His there's no need for that and cat bats it away was a perfect show of his personality. The snark😍. I play dnd and one of my characters was a dhampir and yes another player did grab a stick when it came out.
I'm wondering if they will add a scene if you decide the option to use the tadpole, like instead of seeing Astarion's facial expressions when it narrates about him biting into a rat, they would actually show that instead. But I feel like they'd have to add other scenes for the other companions if you decide to explore their minds. Also, it's so cool that Larion is really working on and tweaking every scene. Really excited to see the final result! And thanks for another Astarion upload😊

I’m tempted to do a playthrough as a female Deep Gnome or maybe Stonewhatevz Halfling or just a female Dwarf with the maximum beard size. It’d make for some great Astarion romance/bite scene footage
Hello @imricsko22 🙂 Awww Thank You So much😊 My character was created in the character creation, no mods used for appearance. You can create such Beautiful & Gorgeous characters in Baldur's Gate 3.
His voice is a lot less whiny and the drawl not as pronounced... Do they update the voice acting as well or just use different takes? Also what sane person would let him bite them in the neck. Just offer an arm dude, the blood's still the same!
I guess they wanted to add some intimacy to the act. You'd never ever let a vampire bite you unless you like them and want something more from your relationship. So yeah, more intimate setting would be more appreciated by players who wants Astarion to be their character's romantic interest.

I really like the new facial animations, they add so much more emotion and immersion to the game.

Good summary of all the changes. Happy about the dialogue added back, all other changes are iffy.

Fr what's stopping him from feeding standing up, maybe holding the player as they go a bit limp. Laying down feels??? Weird

That must've been the melee attack option that the player didn't use.
