This is the best implementation I've yet seen w/these. Feels more like a cathedral. Now I just need to find someone who rents nice C-clamps like yours - maybe cargo straps to pull them in, and short pipe clamps to do the final squeeze would work equally well. Anyway, beautifully done.
how long dose this last, with it being wood. did you do anything to protect the wood from water. hate to build one and then it rot over time. love to build one that will last a long long time.
Nicely done. Labor intensive compared to other methods, but, better engineering. Hope you generate some business from it. I just build mine from poly pipe. Dan

Do you have designs for arches for domed roofs for buildings with no trusses and roofs. I work with people in Africa and need to find economical ways to roof existing structures. Thank you.
With traditional wood framing the sill plate meets the concrete foundation and is secured with an anchor bolt to the foundation. How is one of these cured members being connected to the foundation? I don't even see a sill plate. What's keeping them from shifting around on the foundation?
You need to expand your mind….you’ve been manipulated into believing there is only one way to build. These are a traditional hoop house or boat shed for traditional ship builders, they date back many many years. Also called a Quonset hut. Designed by US military before WW2. This structure is fine, the only issue would be the plastic getting damaged from UV.
Would like to build a boat shed/greenhouse like yours. It would be 24' wide x 40' long x 18' tall (at peak). Don't know how to figure out how long to make the arch halves, Can you help me out.? All the calculations say to use diameter at base, but that is if you want the peak at same height as the base width, I guess. At a loss, help.
I live north Toronto Canada. we get ice storms - they hold up pretty good. I used 1x3 strappings and 2x4 blocks in between covered with plastic - it stood against scary wind storms as well that have knocked down large trees in the forests and streets. Amazing structures. I will be building my cabins with.
Nicely done, but why rip 2x4's, a lot of work, blade wear and danger. For a truss, the width is the strength, not really the edges, Could you build it using thin hardboard which is easy to bend and use 2x6 blocks inside to get wider truss? Or 3/4x2 boards (but more expensive). btw, website is broken.
You should have waterproofed/sealed the lumber before you attached the plastic. Moisture will collect under the plastic and the structure will rot. My GH had this exact issue after 10 years with pressure treated lumber.
8 years ago this was a great cheap project today a 2x4 is $9 a pc this project will cost a fortune to make it you can cut strips of plawood and just use the lumber for the spaces but the labor involve is big outside of the look of the final product I will like to see the wind strength it will need some big poles to hold
Absolutely beautiful! Nicest greenhouse ever seen.
Beautiful craftsmanship. So lovely to see.
Thank you! I had been looking for the steps in how this type of greenhouse was made.
Thanks for being so clear and direct about the build.
That was a great video. Thanks for the concise and eloquent info. I'm off to check out your other videos. Cheers
Well done.
I just started making one almost like yours but I laminated 3/4 plywood strips 3” wide and doubled with 2x4x6” blocks
Enjoyed the video. Nice getting a good explanation of how it went together.

Beautiful design and craftsmanship.
Looks beautiful. Great job
Great video! and from way back in 2012, this has been hiding from me :) Thanks for sharing.
Great info! Thanks !
looks great!

شكرا جزيلا عمل اكثر من رائع مجهود وعقل وخطوات محسوبه لقد أعطيتني فكرة لكي اصنع زورقا للنزهة بتكاليف بسيطة
Beautiful!
Very cool design. How does the plastic hold up with snow with this roof design?
Nice job.
Nice work :)
SUPER IDEA . POZDRAWIAM .
Greenhouses have a lot of heat and moisture in them. What do you do to prevent the wood from rotting?
rowgler1 seal it and have adequate air exchange
Super.дуже гарна ,
This is a good one

Отличная штука! Что-то подобное собираюсь сделать :)
Привет из России :)
Попробовал? Получилось?

What staples and staple gun did you use?
Hello, I am curious how long the plastic on the outside has lasted?
Nice!
Классная теплица
how much weight will this hold? I have 900 sheets of greenhouse glass (16"x18") that I would like to use using this type of framework.
double the truss's, you could park a full grown elephant on top. ;-)
The link you posted is not working

Hi there, the website returned an error
Do knots in the wood present a problem when bending the peices ?
Walt Lars. yes.
Wondering how well the pva glue has held up over the years.

Would like to build one in Vermont...snow loads?

Thank makes a lot of sense .. you must have an engineering background! What about 2x4`s inside instead of 2x2`s?
The above domain has expired. Are the plans available elsewhere?
Sorry, meant to add 1/4 inch thick
I think using plywood would be smarter, easier and stronger.
no it just breaks watch Zack of all trades

jammer niet om aan te zien, kort om saai
Why not pvc pipes, cool structure but lots of work
Dave, PVC breaks down in the sun after 2 years. I am a professional greenhouse grower.
I use PVC in the Texas Hill Country for many projects. I have yet to see it break down after 2 years.
If you use the grey PVC (conduit) it will be UV resistant and approximately the same price.
I sent to see someone make a boat out of this structure
I think its meant as a shelter for boat building/repairs!

be careful of ply wood voids that low cost plywood has, not a problem in full sheets , but significant when cut into strips.
