I love this new song by Jinjer, always love Jinjer! I love the portrayals of Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, Marie Curie and (I think) Georgia O'Keefe, although since we know Tatiana loves Frida Kahlo (as do I) because of that tattoo on her arm, I will always think of that character in this video as Georgia O'Keefe on the outside and Frida Kahlo on the inside. Great reaction! Thank you, as always OldSkuleNerd, for bringing more of the fantastic music of Jinjer to more people! ❤️ 🖤 🤘
They are *SO* good!! All 4 of them. :) This is *A LOT* to take in on first listen. LOL The melody, harmony, rhythmic change-ups, syncopation on top of that.... so much brain-tickling complexity from the lads.... & then Tatiana manages to come up with those vocal lead & harmony lines over the top o_O She doesn't get enough credit for the quality of writing she creates over the lads' already complex music. Hopefully I don't have to wait too long to buy a new Jinjer album. :)
Maybe because I'm a woman and can identify with so much of it, but I really like this song! Could be due to my adhd, but I also love the chaotic feel it has to it. The video is 🔥 and your interpretation is spot on ❤
for me, the lyrics and the bass are the kingmakers on this song. Everyone is firing on all cylinders, but the the aforementioned two elements on this song are extra special
Lol it is mexican painter frida kahlo tattooed on tati's arm.....also featured are cleopatra, joan of arc and marie curie. Jinjer - From Nothing (Live Audiotree Performance) Jinjer - Call Me A Symbol (Official Live in LA)
Pure perfection. Just like with every Jinjer song, it needs multiple listens to start to encompass it. It's classical level composition. It evolves like Vortex from clean and sensitive melody to roaring brutality. And it keeps us guessing when it will flip the switch. When it does, the whole end part is so combative and in your face. They have the audacity to throw the first punch! I'm here for it! Swingin'! Come on!
After watching the video a few times and reading the lyrics, I feel this is a very poetic way of Tati saying "Hell hath now fury like a woman scorned." This is a fantastic way to introduce their new album!
It hasn't even been 6 weeks since they said the album was done being recorded. So either post-production and all that was done real quick, or this was recorded before the album was. Either way, great song, as expected.
As high as my expectations for Jinjer are, they blew them right out of the water. I got definite I Speak Astronomy vibes. The guys are perfect and it's not often we get this much clean vocal from Tati on a Jinjer song. Pretty near perfect. Pretty damn good reaction too!
4:05 One of the women that comes to mind when we talk about women not historically getting the credit they deserve is Mary Anning. She was a self-taught fossil hunter and was one of the pioneering forces behind modern paleontology and (maybe) the woman selling sea shells on the sea shore. Unfortunately, because of the Victorian England time period she lived in, a lot of her discoveries and findings were written about in some of the most prestigious scientific journals with absolutely no mention of her name. Luckily, her name isn't completely lost to history because some very famous scientists were fond of her work and gave her the credit she deserved. And the Geological Society of London published her obituary in one of their quarterly journals, which was a big thing because that was the first time they did that for a non-fellow (because the society didn't accept women until about 50 years after her death).
There were some reasonably famous female painters in history but here in europe a few centuries ago that would only be possible if they were of nobility. You would have had a certain standard of independance to even be allowed to paint and to be taken serious. And for this moment I think Tatiana is starting to qualify to become one of these legends she sings about. She is becoming legendary herself ,with the help of the guys ofcourse.
Y'all need Freeze The Fall on your channel. Up and coming hard rock trio from western Canada. Quinn 17, guitar and vocals, Jonah 16, drums, Aria 15, bass and vocals. A band only 2 years, they were signed to Canada's largest independent label in February, in a promotion and distribution deal, and just released their first EP last week. Recommend checking out Daughters Of Witches first. It's a song about how Women around the world are constantly dealt a bad hand, while society looks the other way. You will not be disappointed. Guaranteed.
you might have missed out on the start of The Warning so don't miss out on Freeze The Fall. some of us TWA found them thru a TW cover but fell in love with their originals and supported them on their kickstarter for their debut EP Thrones. Daughters Of Witches OMV is the one they are really wanting you to see as a first experience. also they signed a distribution only deal with 604 Records and that means no blocked videos and they want you to be a part of the growing community we have started. @RussInCanada has commented and Freeze The Fall replied to him. you haven't missed the train yet but it is about to leave the station. Be Good To One Another and ROCK ON !!
It could be Marie Victoire Lemoine. Georgia O'keefe or Frida Kahlo. I'm leaning towards Frida Kahlo as I think Tati has a tattoo of Frida. I'm looking for it. As far as the painter. I just read that they've completed recording of the new album but earlier this morning I saw a report saying it would be winter 2025. Why such a long wait. They still don't have a title yet. I wonder if it's because there so backlogged with Euro festivals.
I'm a Jinjer fan, and I've learned that I need to listen to their songs several times before developing my opinion of them. I like Tati's singing on this, but the instrumentation behind her is too noisy. I love Jinjer for their technical sophistication, but the guys need to remember that they are supposed to be making music, not just technical noise. I can't listen to this in my car - it hurts my ears.
Complete opposite for me. Absolutely love the instrumental, but the vocal parts sound a bit off. Kinda feels like the vocals are from the different song just meshed together with the music.
Grabbed me from first listen. It's a 10/10 for me, up there with Vortex and Astronomy. I love the precise yet chaotic brutality of the instruments. The beautiful contrast of the vocals is perfection. And at the end the vocal punches are in unison and then syncopation with the instrumental punches. They hit like Mike Tyson!
This is my absolute favorite song in a long time. Absolutely fantastic.
this is a piece of art!
I think the painter is Frida Kahlo, a big inspiration to Tatiana ❤ Great review!
Ooo THANK YOU THANK YOU
Tatiana has a tattoo of Frida. But it may also be Georgia O'Keeffe. Google her and check out the pictures.
The costume & hairstyle would have been fancier, even the room isn't reminiscent of mexican culture. Georgia O'Keeffe makes better sense though.
@@NiamorH Well maybe so but it has been established by Tatiana that this in fact is Frida Kahlo ;)
@@fjolagu Could you tell me where I can find this information? I will readily admit that I am wrong if that is the case.
The painter is Georgia O'Keeffe. American painter with a 70 year career and famously created massive works of art out of women's reproductive organs.
I love this new song by Jinjer, always love Jinjer!

This is really focusing on their open form jazz foundation. Absolutely LOVE it.

The lyrics are helpful in gaining the entire meaning of the song.

You nailed the meaning of the song in the first 10 seconds! Nioce! Great reaction, thank you!
The guitar tones from both Eugene and Roman are insane on this song

When I met Eugene he made it a point to thank me for buying the shirt that helped with Ukraine. Just 4 good humans who are the best musicians alive!!
Can't wait to see them in October with Hanabie and Born of Osiris.
All women r someone's daughter ❤
Of all the reaction videos I loved yours for diving into the history of important women, thank you for that
Great reaction..I’ve seen them twice live..Absolutely killer
Loved this so much!! Jinjer is back baby!!!
The painter is Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo Calderón from Mexico.
Is it Curie?
"Marie Curie is remembered for her discovery of radium and polonium, and her huge contribution to finding treatments for cancer"

Thanks for reaction
Freida Kahlo was a mexican artist that was very active from the mid 1920's to the mid 50's. I believe this is who Tati is portraying in the video.
I’m sure the painter in the video of Frida Kahlo a Mexican painter that is a big inspiration to Tati. She’s tattooed on her as well.
I thought the same thing at first, but I dig a little digging and I'm pretty sure it's Georgia O'Keeffe.
Enjoyed the song, the video and your reaction 😀

I'm gonna see them on Sept 22 in Pittsburgh. I can't wait!
I'll be there lol
Charlotte 10/1 for me and my daughter!
@@SVNFLDFN I’ll see you there or just see what you see with you. No losers here.

Frida
Maybe even the painter is a person from the ukranian history that we don't know of.
Who is she embodying when she's painting? Is that just her as herself or?
Are those real albums above you or have I entered some sort of Seinfeld movie poster world for records?

Yeah, after about 10 listens I'm giving this a 6/10, for a few reasons.
The instruments carry the song for me, sounds insane on good speakers.
