I fell in love with Jinjer in 2015-2016 when I was in a very dark place in my life. I've followed their music since then, and they have never stopped impressing me with their creativity and talent. The interview on Audiotree shows the kind of mentality they have to reach the pinnacle of success in music. But, as their lyrics say, I wonder, "Is it lonely on the top?"
Also Tatiana : « I don’t really have a technique » I strongly recommand the Audiotree performance which is out of this world + Pit of consciousness live in Kiev. At least for you to listen. At least !
They also have a “live in the beastiarium” from their first album and it’s amazing how great they sounded in their beginning. Just been honing the craft ever since.
Lol tati has not formally trained from anybody but she has absolutely mastered self trial-by-error technique that works for her for both harshes, cleans and also phrasing and structuring Vocal lines over such crazy proggy djenty music with a million complex time signature changes 😂😂

It's so weird how, without any real understanding of vocal techniques or any vocal training whatsoever, I can still kind of instinctively understand what you were talking about in regard to the "upper" and "lower" constriction and how maybe Tatiana is able to engage both those areas of the...vocal tract, I guess. I can sort of imagine in my head what that might feel like and how it might change the sound. Not saying I could do it well, but it's fascinating how accessible singing is through pure feeling. Nice to see you point out all of the tiny subtle things Tatiana uses when she sings, even from one syllable to the next. Helps you appreciate her even more. Also, have you been working on those low growls? Even that "YES" at 6:48 sounded beefy!
When she does that compressed fry sound I always hear a little bit of pre 2015 Tatiana peaking through saying "I'm still here". This song is one of those that I think shows one of her unsung talents and that is taking complex music and laying vocals over it. The actual instrumentation for this was actually done weeks before she went into the studio. She just takes what she hears and starts her lyrics, melody, phrasing, all of it. Just another thing that impresses me. On prior albums there are pictures and video of her using a Shure SM7 for vocals. I don't know if she used it this time but she did use it for their previous album and those vocals don't sound significantly different. The capsule in that mic isn't terribly different from the wireless mic she uses or any other average dynamic you might use live. In fact it's supposedly the same as an SM58. I think you said you saw her interview with Elizabeth from the Charismatic voice. In that she mentioned that she will take a break and "forget" how to do the harsh vocals and have to relearn it. It's probably not that she forgets but I think I know what she means. Because of that fans who have heard the entire discography know she has a slightly different sound from time period to time period. It's kind of like selecting a fine wine. Do you like the 2012 vintage, 2015, 2019 or 2022? Amazing thing is they are all good. There is a recent live session done in 2022 on video called Jinjer From Nothing that was just recently released and that would be an excellent thing to look at for her 2022 "vintage". It does remind me of a line in a Lethal Weapon movie where I think Tatiana has forgotten more about harsh vocals than most people will ever know. I would still like to see you analyze their video Pit of Consciousness Live in Kyiv. She goes super low in that one but after she does she does, I don't even know what it is but it's pitched, it's extremely gritty, doesn't have a sheen at all and it's really high.

Judging by the rather uncommon length of this song's lyrics I think that this time Tatiana had more time and less pressure to write them. Also, after reading the lyrics I'm thinking that she probably used more clean vocals because she wanted to get the message across more clearly. There are some clean parts where we would expect harsh vocals but if there's anything I learned from Jinjer in the last 8 years is to expect the unexpected. 🙂
I love this new song by Jinjer, always love Jinjer! I've done some amateur dabbling in music, but I love hearing musicians talk about Jinjer, they're just so good! I love the portrayals in video of Joan of Arc, Marie Curie and (I think) Georgia O'Keeffe, although since we know Tatiana loves Frida Kahlo (as do I) because of that tattoo on her arm, I will always think of that character in this video as Georgia O'Keeffe on the outside and Frida Kahlo on the inside. Whos Gonna Be The One live being one of the best examples. POC live in Kiev is probably my fave live track of theirs... the final low and the length she holds it is epic \m/

That Teacher Teacher video is a great suggestion for a vocals channel. Tati sings in, I dunno, five distinct vocal styles? Six maybe? In that one song. It's so good.
I just noticed you never featured The Plot In You on your channel before. You really HAVE to listen to some of their stuff, you're going to love it. Landon Tewers is an insanely good and incredibly unique vocalist. I'd recommend all of their latest songs basically. (older stuff is good, but it's been especially vocal centered lately) "Been Here Before" for a more melodic track with insane sing screaming and "Forgotten" for a really heavy experience with mostly pitchless screams would be my first recommendations..

This is the 4th time this morning that I've listened to this song and I hear more each time Obviously there's Tatti but the second half of the song goes hard almost thrashy then shifts into odd time stops chugs and open chords I'm looking forward to the new album now that Jinjer have established themselves as top tier musicians and band ✌️🤘🧐 Imo Roman is such an underrated player and deserves more credit
Agreed re: Roman, he's amazing. And his parts never try to dominate. Eugene is maybe my favourite bassist right now but definitely part of what's going on with why we hear a bit more gushing about the bass is that those two write parts that complement and weave around each other, rather than the guitar dominating the bass, and the latter is often the case in metal. So there's some novelty in just how present and articulate the bass sounds in their songs. (Also the mixing is extremely good of course.) They really thrive on not having a second guitarist chugging just rhythm on top and rather Roman writing these intricate parts that fuse little lead-like licks into riffs, and let Eugene carry the rhythm, (and then also vice versa). I think it's actually hard to rate anyone in this band individually because showing off is never anyone's prerogative, and solos aren't a thing; everyone's to be credited as much for when/where they don't play, because the arrangement doesn't call for it. Anyway Roman is incredible, he has the skills to show off more but that's not what they're trying to create, and I love that.
Also I know some of this lately is written by Vlad which I assume means at least the skeletons of the guitar/bass parts. But the same applies to anything Roman and Eugene have written and co-written.
Pretty sure it's still the Overload Achilles 5, or one of the new Dingwalls. I've never seen him play a Ricky. That instrumental section in the middle does have a nice bright Chris Squire sounding tone. I'm betting it's a Dingwall.
