    Well, in my country I teach dialogue starting from the course book we got to educate, first I teach the new words, then I give the guiding questions about the dialogue or write it on the board, then I play the conversation, they listen and try to give their answers, then we read the conversation from the book, afterwards students are asked to create their own conversation in pairs

    How I practice dialogues in my class...I use the listening and responding and make a question. They love the last one, because they feel more English 😂.
    They don't like so much the role playing.
    I'm sure I will try some of your ways of practice dialogues and I think they will be a success as usual. 😊
    I have changed a lot my way of teaching since I started following you on your RUclips channel. Thank you! 😊
    Bye bye ! 👋🏻😊

    Hello Val. I am an english teacher for elementary and I want to know how mamy times is correct to repertorio an audio for my students to understand that? Thanks for you answer.

    • @Teacher-Val
      @Teacher-Val  10 месяцев назад

      Hi Jessica! Good question! 👍
      The number of times you need to repeat a new word for students to understand/remember can vary depending on several factors, including the complexity of the word, the student's age and learning style, and the context in which the word is introduced.
      There is this popular theory called "Rule of Seven," which suggests that learners typically need to encounter new information at least seven times before it becomes firmly embedded in their long-term memory. Seven words, steps, or points are the maximum for optimal memory retention, which means that in a language classroom, you shouldn’t teach more than seven new words.
      I personally try to stick to 4 to 6 new words per class. In the teaching phase, I repeat each word 3 to 4 times, and then we practice. I create activities and games that make students use new words in different contexts. The key is to provide multiple exposures to the word in varied and engaging ways to support students’ memory and understanding.

    I have a question , How can I teach the kids the correct pronunciation for new words ?

    • @Teacher-Val
      @Teacher-Val  5 месяцев назад

      Hello, Teacher Sara! I think I'll need to make a video to answer your question in full. 😉
      Basically, you need to use a combination of a few methods: 1) Introduce your students to the IPA to help them understand and produce sounds accurately, 2) demonstrate correct pronunciation, 3) use pairs of words that differ by only one sound to highlight distinctions (e.g., "ship" vs. "sheep"), 4) do a lot of listening practice where students identify and mimic the sounds, 5) teach where to place tongue and lips, 6) teach rhymes and songs because they are great for pronunciation.
