It’s been a crazy last few weeks. We are exhausted and behind on a lot of behind the scenes work, plus we are a little dirty ;) All of this means we are really ready for a break, but not before traveling 35 hours to the other side of the world.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this RUclips channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)
Love how much you guys go into the logistics of travel; taxes, laundry, visas, the exhaustion! Don't change!
so handy to know this is interesting! We often skip over it, but just reading this makes me think we should include it more! i guess the nitty gritty is what counts on the road!
It's the small stuff that makes a big difference when you travel; the coffee in the morning or knowing how you will have clean underwear! The little stuff is so often forgotten but makes the biggest headaches when traveling.
@@TheBackpackingFamily I don't think its so much about the nitty gritty and more so about how REAL they keep it. Alot of travel challenges GLAMORIZE travel - Nate and Kara perfectly balance positivity and openness to new cultures and experiences with also keeping it real about the struggles of travel and that there are hiccups and its not always sunshine and rainbow, and I think that's why people gravitate so heavily to their channel
totally get that! it's so encouraging too - its important to be positive but definitely keep it real! ive just finished editing a video for this sunday and its a very honest insight into what really happens when you go to see the bowing deer of Japan! - its a tricky a balance to be positive and real! i dont know how much you tube you watch, but if you get chance to watch it this sunday would really appreciate knowing what you think - it sounds like youve got a good grasp on what works! - Its a pretty crazy video as its the same day we ran into Christian Leblanc (Lost Leblanc) - i dont know if you've seen his stuff but hes pretty awesome!

The laundry bit was great! One of the things I like best about you guys is that you document the struggles along with the good parts, unlike pretty much everybody else that pretends to have a perfect Instagram glam life all the time. Keep at it! You are at your best when you have challenges to overcome!

IT IS SO Worth paying for a hotel to sleep in for the night. We just did that on our way to PERU. See how refreshed Kara looked in the morning.

agreed! We often sleep in airports, but since having a baby, we stayed in a hotel on a layover and it was aaaaamazing!
Just did the exact same thing in Seattle on our way to Fairbanks last month, and for only 4 hours sleep, and, yes, totally worth it!
That fresh look on KARA face after sleep shows how much you needed that sleep.

Travel day videos - whether they're "boring" or not - are my favorite from you guys. No idea why, other than the fact that it shows how travel experiences bring us all together. We've all had the lady in the middle seat snuggle with us at some point. Thanks guys!

You two are a huge inspiration to me. I just quit my job and I leave for Mexico on June 30 for a1 year around the world trip at 33 years old. I currently have zero stamps in my passport but that is all about to change. I hope to live up to the Kara and Nate legends.

During the time they were in Scandinavia, we get about 3-4 hours of daylight. So that's probably what she meant, it's so much night time in winter/early spring up here

I'm so glad you like Mexico. I've been here four years in Mérida. Unfortunately, my husband of 27 years recently passed away. So we are moving back to California. You guys are the Pellaton that give us the wind and energy to keep 💗 going. Love the friendship and love you to share. Thanks again for taking us along for the experience and adventures.

I have to say the laundry part was by far the best. Fallowed by getting deported, 6 hours sleep, the orange, and don't forget the play by play of Kara and the customs guy..... LOL.... Love it.
My Wife and I stayed there at the LAX LaQuinta! We were looking for just a decent clean room to lay our heads down for a night before our Mexican Riviera Cruise left the next day from Long Beach. It definitely got the job done! We were there April 19th.
So funny watching the older guys in the red sweater walking back and forth when you were in the airport.Surprise you didn't take advantage of the free breakfast at the Laquinta Inn and forgo the lounge at LAX.Be safe

There is actually a direct charter flight from Copenhagen to Cancun with Tui Airways which would have been much quicker.

One question: I have watched enough of your videos and have seen you say something like, "We're leaving these things behind because we won't need them where we are going." Do you actually just ship them back home to Nashville? If not, do you really just leave those things behind??
Hey Danielle! Great question! It depends. We've left cheap clothes behind before, but sometimes if we know we are seeing family (in this case, in Mexico), then we will send stuff home with them. For example, I gave my sister my snow boots when she came to Mexico! :)

I know that you guys don’t have any ideas really for after you reach 100 countries but I think that you guys could do like a road trip across the 50 states of America and go to the biggest city. Another idea Is you could chose your favorite continent and go everywhere in that continent. You could also chose your favorite country and go to all the city’s in the country.
