Absolutely superb video very many thanks save me a fortune 👍👍👍
Glad it was helpful, thanks for the comment
Great video...
On my T400 there is a plastic extrusion in the tank about 20mm which you have to press the hose around to free the pump. Took a while to figure out. After I got the pump out I reconnected the power and tested it before cutting the wire - and lo and behold - it worked. Putting it back I angled the pump into place and then pressed the hose back on.
Gave everything a clean and reassemble only to find the opener had now jammed. Took that lid in the cassette off and cleaned it on top and underneath and it freed up. A quick spray with lanoline, clean again and the a spray with silicone and all good again.
It seems draining, flushing and cleaning could have avoided all this work, but who knew?
I wouldn't do this work for someone else, even with PPE, so I imagine a caravan repairer would charge about 3 hours labour + parts or just install a new toilet.
Thanks for the comment, draining/cleaning the tank on a regular basis prevents issues definitely. Its not a pleasant job when doing it for someone else that for sure
I'm not sure what compelled you to take the time and energy to make this video but please know that there's an old guy in Colorado who thinks that you're an angel sent from heaven. I was getting ready to tear out the entire toilet and then I watched your video and everything was exactly as you described it (i.e., seized pump, lots of mold). I'll be ordering a new pump this evening and sending good thoughts of gratitude your way. Best regards - Jim.
Thank you so much for the comment! It makes it worth while creating these videos when I know I've helped someone. Appreciate it Jim.
Great video, very helpful. And the fact you did it with one hand whils filming blows my mind. It’s a fiddly job.
Diddo Great video Great job
Crisis averted! We are about to stay in a farmers field with rudimentary facilities (music festival) accompanied by ageing guests and I discover the flush has stopped working. Not enough time to get a professional to fix so turned to RUclips in the hope of finding a DIY video. Your video is pure gold, comprehensive and easy to follow. New pump sourced and within minutes the flush is as good as new. You are an absolute star! Many thanks.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Glad it helped. Thanks for the comment! Makes it worth while creating these videos
Amazing video and step-by-step process for troubleshooting. I was able to repair mine with a new fuse, and am now ready for the pump when it decides it wants to retire! Thank you for posting!
Appreciate the support! Thanks
Very usefull video.
We arrived on site yesterday and found the loo pump wouldn,t work.
Took of the control cover and found the wife a little job ......normally the other way round ! to lift out the pump with her small hands. Turned the impeller with a screwdriver and hey presto its working again only better flow than before.
Thankyou for showing us what to do.
Awesome! Thanks for the comment
Thanks for this, you have saved me so much time and money!
Thanks for the comment!
Thank you so much for this video. My tC402 toilet was not flushing, blowing the fuse. I traced the fault to the pump, and after much cursing and swearing managed to extract it. With a bit of persuasion I was able to free up the impeller, tested it, gave everything a good clean, put it all back together, and hey, we have a flushing toilet again! I hadn't drained the flush tank while it was laid up for 9 months during COVID lockdowns, which probably caused the problem. Won't do that again. Couldn't have done it without your excellent video. Many thanks.
Awesome! Glad you solved your problem. Appreciate the comment.
Same here
God bless you. My water was not full. saved me a$200 service call
Appreciate the comment.
Great video, thanks
. I couldn't find the pump until I watched this. Took out the pump and gave it a few whacks with my pliers and it started working again 👍
Thanks!
Excellent video on this to Toilet pump refurbishment.

Excellent video, many thanks, I'll be attacking mine in the morning !
Great. Thanks for the comment!
Great video thank you I’ve been trying to find the fault for three day until I saw your video brilliant
Appreciate the feedback. Thanks!
Thank you for showing the fix!
Thanks!
That was a really handy video and very in depth which was a great help. Yes sitting idle for long periods during NZ lockdowns so plenty of mold to flush out and fortunately a screwdriver managed to turn the pump impeller and now all working again. Hardest part was trying to pull the pump up and out lots of scratches on the hands, that wasn't easy but knowing it could be done from the video gave me the confidence to keep going.
Great to know you fixed your problem!
Thank you
Thank you
Thank you for taking the time to make this video
We’re in Australia and getting no answer to emails from Thetford and I found your video.
My husband was getting quite frustrated but your video saved the entire toilet unit😂😂😂
We had already replaced the blown fuse & still no pump.
He followed your instructions and pulled out the pump and was able to unstick it, flush the whole unit out & now it’s working again perfectly.
Good thoughts to you always from the

Glad it was helpful! Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Thank you so much for this video, our toilet stopped flushing guess it had been stood up due to CV-19 and we followed your video and now we have a flushing toilet again!! The fuse and the pump had ceased, we were lucky managed to get the pump turning again. Very happy thanks
Thank your for the comment! If the toilet has not been used for sometime I suggest draining all the old water and adding fresh water along with the chemical you normally use.
Great help, thank you from UK. Was half way through this job and couldn’t figure the final access to the pump. You showed me just put your hand in and pull it out. So simple when you know how! Much appreciated, there would have been some cursing if I had disassembled the whole toilet to find that pump. Best wishes.
Glad to know. Thanks for the comment!
Thanks for the video, very helpful.

Thankyou for the video, I found the impeller was stuck and managed to free it and got it working again. Very helpful.

Thanks for the support!
Thank you for making this video! Going to do all this myself tomorrow too, after we found out today that our Thetford C402 doesn't flush anymore. Your video is of great help, as it shows where everything is, how to take everything apart and what to be careful with. Really appreciate the time and effort that you put into this video. Thanks, from a camping in The Netherlands.
Appreciate the comment, thanks!
Excellent video and detail. You helped save the weekend camping trip!
Awesome! Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for the video, I used needle nosed pliers to get the impeller to turn because it wouldn't turn with screw driver.

Great video,some useful tips.
I've got the same toilet in my van, but the pump is working and no flush water is coming out of the nozzle in the bowl. I'm presuming it's disconnected from the pump. About to attempt to fix. Found the dismantle part useful. Thanks
Great to know you solved your issue!
@@AutoBuddynz yes ,it took me 5 mins to fix thanks
Thank you!
Thanks for the comment!

Good vid
Thank You!
Thanks for video . It helped to solve my issue.
Glad to hear that!
axel more or less was jammed, dried stiff, like concrete. Twist it with force,it often starts to get loose little by little.. But new pump is always better job to do!
Absolutely, a new is normally always the best choice!
Do you know what voltage the pump is? I would like to test my pump, to determine if my issue is the small control board OR the pump, and although I would suspect the pump would be 12v, I don't want to assume anything.
Yes its 12v DC
Hi mate I have a thetford C402C toilet in my motorhome & have 2 issues I hope you can assist with.
One is the toilet level indicator lights inside the van no longer work
The other problem is a small spring which I believe assists the toilet blade handle return to closed position fell off the arm inside where the cassette slides in and am unsure where both ends attach to believe I can see the one small hole on the moving arm though cannot see the other attachment hole can you please help with these issues thankyou
Hi Neil, not sure if you fixed your issue. The level indicator lights can be problematic on this model, sometimes the board needs to be replaced. As for the spring I recommend looking at this part diagram and trace back from there, hard to tell without seeing a picture or similar

Great video my friend!!!
Do you know what fuse size is recommended at the fuse box?
Hi its normally a pink 3 amp blade fuse. Thanks
Ah, yes, the lovely Thetford cassette toilets. I'm still trying to solve the problem of making water flow uphill so that I can fill the reservoir. In any case, pumps send water from one place to another place. The pump in my trailer works (i.e., it turns). However, there's only one hose that can carry water. Where does that hose actually go? Where does the water that the pump pumps actually go? These are honest sincere questions. I'm trying to get the toilet in my trailer to actually work (i.e., pump water from the reservoir into the toilet bowl, rather than just turning). I probably should have just left the pump alone after replacing the fuse, but I may never learn to leave well enough alone. Any actual help appreciated.
Sounds like you have not submerged the pump in the lower portion of the flush water tank. What happens over time the pipe to the outlet on the bowl can get hard which in turn can pull the pull out from the correct area where it should be located right at the bottom.
If you check photos of 402c pump. It comes with a white plastic part which is connected to the bottom of the pump. Where is it? I mean why it is not in your video?
@@trashcan4u853 Thats correct its the holder for the pump, most of the time due to the age of these toilets they are missing, not a big deal still does the job as long as you follow my video
You helped me to remove the old pump, but now I need a new one and looking for an aftermarket pump, how do I know which I could use?

Thank you for this. 40 yo female feeling accomplished to have fixed the motor 🤣
Thanks!
how can i empty the flush tank when i cant find the drain / level indicating tube ?
Easiest way if the indicator is not working, is to open the toilet as if you were going to use it and have a look at the level.
Great video! I got the pump out after my husband cut his arm up and gave up. Finesse is not his strong suit. Lol. When I pulled up the pump, though, the fat tubing came up with it, and it's open on one end, and attached on the other. Did I pull it loose from something? I sure hope not!
Thanks! The tube has to be plugged back in at the top spout/ fitting where the flush water exits at the bowl.
@@AutoBuddynz It just slips around it? I didn't break anything off? It's really hard to feel around and find anything to plug it back into. Is it near the top or the bottom of the chamber?
@@AutoBuddynz thanks for responding!😀

Part no 52 the pipe goes near the top toilet ring, if you put your hand in there or a mirror you will see where to push the pipe back on
What is the amp fuse for the for water pump
Normally a pink 3amp fuse but you can also use a 5amp one.
This is the second one for the basement bat. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxOuLt8IL_GxhhaK8DBuKEL-zV0UJVpWZn , works great
