A Brisbane husband and father, living with Motor Neurone Disease, has recorded this song utilising the voice that continues to withstand the terminal illness.
"Road Trip Wednesdays" was inspired by the adventures John has with his friend Henry on their regular Wednesday road trips as well as the driving holidays they have had with their wives Lisa and Fiona.
Our objective is to get these songs heard by as many people as possible and to raise funds to help beat this monster.
To do this, we ask for your help. Please share this page or the video to as many people as you can.
Song Lyrics
Road Trip Wednesdays
Familiar sight on a Wednesday
For Henry and me
Flip the coin on the dashboard
Left or right at the T
Now it’s 2PM out at Lowood
hotly debating if we should have beer number 3
bartender settles it for us
tell me your story, boys, the next one’s on me
Well, it’s a road trip every Wednesday
We just go with the flow
I can tell you where it started
Where it ends? Nobody knows
Holding half-full glasses
tearing up the plan
the beers are cold, the chat is good
In the corner strums a band
That song feels familiar
Takes me to Cradle Mountain, I’m holding her hand
Can almost reach out and touch her
‘til a chicken parmigiana calls me to land
It’s a road trip every Wednesday
We just enjoy the show
I can tell you where it started
Where it ends? Nobody knows
We could head south-west to Stanthorpe
But we might end up in Spain
soaking up the sunshine
While we’re driving through the rain
It’s tempting now to dive real deep
But let’s just keep it plain
It’s a Wednesday kinda thing you see
That’s all I’m gonna say
When the needle points to empty
Getting by on fumes
I just look across at Henry
Play another tune
Looking down through foggy glasses
might have gone too far
I can hear the brides a’ talking
Wondr’n where the hell we are
Change is on the bar now,
all our ducks are somehow in a row
We don’t know where we’re goin’
Ooo, but I know we’ll get there slow
Chorus
We could head south-west to Stanthorpe
But we might end up in Spain
soakin up the sunshine while
While we’re drivin’ through the rain
It’s tempting now to dive real deep
But I’ll put it to you plain
It’s a Wednesday kinda chorus
Don’t tell no-one you saw us
and come next week we’ll do it all again
