    After he got clean, Audie wrote the book "To Hell and Back", which then became a movie where he got to play himself, and later would star in a few other westerns.
    Audie's son came out and thanked Sabaton at a concert for both honoring his father and for not writing another sad country ballad about him.

    The story about Witold Pilecki , a soldier and officer of Poland. He went in voluntarily into the death camp of Aucshwich to find out what was going on in there. He then escaped, was in the revolt in Warsaw. After the war he worked under cover against Sovjet, got prisoned and executed. A true hero!
    The story about Witold is told in the Sabaton song Inmate 4859.
    Keep on the good work!

    Some of the. Lyrics are from Audie Murphys own writing and poetry written and published, "crosses grow in anzio" Oh, gather 'round me, comrades
    And listen while I weep;
    Of a war, a war, a war...
    where hell is six feet deep.
    Along the shore, the cannons roar.
    Oh how can a soldier sleep?
    The going's slow on Anzio
    And hell is six feet deep.
    Praise be to God for this captured sod
    That's rich where blood does seep;
    With yours and mine, like butchered swine;
    And hell is six feet deep.
    That death does wait
    There's no debate;
    No triumph will we reap
    The crosses grow on Anzio,
    Where hell is six feet deep.
    by Audie Murphy. Understand the Anzio beachhead was almost the epic fail of world war 2, the allies bogged down on the beachhead under fire from anzio annie and anzio Express two German super heavy railway guns. (Edit Krupp K5 280mm) ruclips.net/video/EDGyAc0uqcI/видео.html. One of which is in the United states previously at Aberdeen proving ground, I think it was moved to ft Lee now maybe elsewhere.

    Audie Murphy book about his experience in the war is called "To hell and back".
    In the 1970s David Morrell came out with a book about a veteran haunted by his past that was based on what he seen from returning veterans from the Vietnam war and Audie Murphy.
    The book is First Blood and the veteran in the book is Rambo.
    Sabaton is from Sweden and so is the apple that Morrell used to name his character.
    Peter Gunnarsson was one of the first to settle in New Sweden (in a area along the Delaware river) and he did bring som apple seeds with him from his home Ramberget in Gothenburg.

    The freedom I have is because of Audie, and you. And for that I cannot insult or ignore any veteran. All of them deserve respect and I will willingly give it up and never hold back. He went to hell and back to fight for his own country and loved ones back home. The reward they got was freedom and peace, but he only got PTSD as his reward. No one wishes that even to those they fight against. It’s like the mind is engulfed in fire and it never dies down. A continuous burning fire. I may never understand how it is, but I understand that what I have as a freedom was paid for already. Every veteran then and now gets my respect. I may never do what you all did, but I know that a price was paid and I’m grateful that you had the steel balls to look hell in the eyes and pay the price.
    For every soldier there is a grave
    But to their souls there is peace
    They will not live with us anymore
    But they will be remembered and honored
    For acts of valor must not be forgotten
    But remembered as a hefty price paid for our freedom
    And respected each soldier will be
    For they are beyond the greatest of our generations

    There's now some new promising treatments for PTSD that i think helped something like 3/5, low doses of MDMA administered over a handful of sessions with a therapist, there is a lot of promise to it from what i've heard from soldiers who have tried it, sadly i think it was harder to get that treatment since it is still experimental but maybe in a couple of years.
