After he got clean, Audie wrote the book "To Hell and Back", which then became a movie where he got to play himself, and later would star in a few other westerns. Audie's son came out and thanked Sabaton at a concert for both honoring his father and for not writing another sad country ballad about him.
The story about Witold Pilecki , a soldier and officer of Poland. He went in voluntarily into the death camp of Aucshwich to find out what was going on in there. He then escaped, was in the revolt in Warsaw. After the war he worked under cover against Sovjet, got prisoned and executed. A true hero! The story about Witold is told in the Sabaton song Inmate 4859. Keep on the good work!

Audie Murphy came back from the war and got involved with Hollywood. The movie clips are from "To Hell and Back," staring Audie as himself. I recommend checking it out.
He also directed the movie. Ultimately, he had to cut out a great deal of his own accomplishments because he figured that the audience wouldn't believe one guy did all of this.

Definitely watch the Sabaton History episode on this song. They really put the time and effort to truly emphasize the impact both Audie Murphy and of what PTSD has on people. A wonderful song none the less
A great song to listen/react to that also holds a good message for anyone facing with depression and/or the feelings that come with it is "Stand up and fight - Turisas" beautiful song with a powerful message
A dark subject that needs more attention, a tough reality for lots of people who faces realitys most can´t even picture in their 9-5 lifes. Great reaction man, keep it up 👊
Audie Murphy book about his experience in the war is called "To hell and back". In the 1970s David Morrell came out with a book about a veteran haunted by his past that was based on what he seen from returning veterans from the Vietnam war and Audie Murphy. The book is First Blood and the veteran in the book is Rambo. Sabaton is from Sweden and so is the apple that Morrell used to name his character. Peter Gunnarsson was one of the first to settle in New Sweden (in a area along the Delaware river) and he did bring som apple seeds with him from his home Ramberget in Gothenburg.
My cousin justin after his 2 tours to iraq and afghan with the 82nd Airborne he was shot multiple times in the back after his humvee exploded he had ptsd and alcoholism hit he drank liters of vodka a day ended up passing out in a hot tub with blood alcohol level of .39 and he died this song hits hard i was one of the few people out of my family he entrusted with telling about his honorable discharge and purple heart he said he didn't want that to define him so he hid it until his death
The freedom I have is because of Audie, and you. And for that I cannot insult or ignore any veteran. All of them deserve respect and I will willingly give it up and never hold back. He went to hell and back to fight for his own country and loved ones back home. The reward they got was freedom and peace, but he only got PTSD as his reward. No one wishes that even to those they fight against. It’s like the mind is engulfed in fire and it never dies down. A continuous burning fire. I may never understand how it is, but I understand that what I have as a freedom was paid for already. Every veteran then and now gets my respect. I may never do what you all did, but I know that a price was paid and I’m grateful that you had the steel balls to look hell in the eyes and pay the price. For every soldier there is a grave But to their souls there is peace They will not live with us anymore But they will be remembered and honored For acts of valor must not be forgotten But remembered as a hefty price paid for our freedom And respected each soldier will be For they are beyond the greatest of our generations
@@v3tReacts His chest only shows a fraction of his incredible life... He and his siblings lost both parents when Audie was young. In order to keep his siblings alive he quit school and started working. Work at times didn't provide enough income to feed the family. Forced to do something about it Audie became a hell of a marksman to be able to put some food on the table. Incredible dude.
One Of My Favorites Of Sabaton. I Was Big On History, Particularly WW2. My Family Also Has A Lot Of History In The Armed Forces, Not Me Due To Medical Complications. Great reaction, again!🤘Sabaton played this as the final song on Great Tour. It was awesome standing in the crowd, jumping and singing along. It's very catchy, but the subject is no joke. I have mixed feelings listening to it. Time for some Swedish history? (You've already got a glimp of it, with your reaction to "En livstid i krig" = A lifetime of war). I recommend "Carolus Rex" (English version), "Long live the King" (English version) and "Lion from the North" (English version).
Hi I think you should react to their history channel about this song qnd history. Jaoquim went to Arlington to see Audie's grave. Thank you for serving. The movie is awesome.
Audie Murphy had really bad PTSD and was heavily medicated, until he decided to stop taking the drugs, and locked himself in a hotelroom for a week to detox, and get clean. Thats were the inspiration for the video came from.
There's now some new promising treatments for PTSD that i think helped something like 3/5, low doses of MDMA administered over a handful of sessions with a therapist, there is a lot of promise to it from what i've heard from soldiers who have tried it, sadly i think it was harder to get that treatment since it is still experimental but maybe in a couple of years.

Very cool. My Mom was born at Aberdeen Proving grounds. I come from an almost entirely military family. God Blessbour troops here and passed. 💕🙏🇺🇸
PTSD is hell, keep it up man, swedish vet , served in cyprus 3 tours , gulf war and Bosnia in 92
Bless you brother. The piccolo intro was a homage by the band to the Westerns Murphy made as an actor. Well spoken reaction, thank you.
Thanks for that!

My man audie locked himself into a hotelroom for a week and over came his drug addiction.
That takes ALOT by itself let alone with the horrors PTSD brings back.
Two songs by sabaton I highly recommend you check out are “Angels calling” and “The price of a mile” be warned tho that they are tear jerkers
